I did not have any problems until then. I suffered with IBS for years until my Gastro doctor put me on Welchol and it is wonderful I take 3 pills a day and I can get anything I want and I don't have any IBS episodes anymore. I am not afraid to go out anywhere anymore. But I have another problem.
For the past year, my wife has been having almost constant liquid pass and the area around her anus is just totally sore. Our new GI is treating it like IBS/Colitis with wechol and other meds.
My wife lost her entire colon to cancer some years ago. They made a J pouch of small intestine and did anastamosis to her anus via stripped rectum (IPAA) and she has always had frequent loose bowel movements, but not liquid.
It turned out to be the welchol I had started on to decrease my cholesterol. I felt bloated, constipated, a little dizzy and a fast heart rate every late afternoon and evening. I was very fatigued and just felt lousy all over. I have to admit that the pressure feeling in the esophagus was the scarriest.
Can anyone explain to me why I still had a heart attack even while taking the following meds atenenol 50mg bid, HCTZ 25mg daily, zetia 40mg daily, plavix 25mg daily, welchol 625mg bid. Also what is the chance of a second heart attack
My Aortic Valve, Tricuspid Valve, and my Mitral Valve are failing because they are stenotic and regurgitative. The Aortic valve is in the worst shape of the three they tell me. I have psoriatic arthritis and ankolosing spondylitis. all joints are involved.
I have an answer for you. I too had my GB out, and soon after had the same symptoms. I DIAGNOSED IT myself....not much initial help from the gastro MD. It is called "biliary diarrhea". It's fairly common, surprisingly. Apparantly has no reflection on the quality of the surgery (I had the short cut method). However, good news: I've beern able to control it, for which I do give gastro MD credit....The cholesterol drug Welchol. Without it I'd be housebound!
Ask your doctor about Welchol; it's a cholesterol medicine that binds bile salts. I had mine taken out in February of last year and tried to "tough it out," but after a doctor put me on Welchol, I rarely ever get sick after eating.
I do not have control of my bowels with or without anti diarrhea meds. I have tried immodium and the dr. prescribed me welchol. I also have anti nausea meds he prescribed, anti spasmotic meds he prescribed, prevacid and he wants me to take align daily. I sometimes have to wear an adult diaper because I cannot get to the restroom in time. I soil myself at night.
I know this is gross - but is there anyone else out there going through this? Do you think my Dr. is doing the right things?
Lipitor caused severe muscle weakness, Zetia caused all kind of digestive problems and Pravachol zapped my energy...my count actually went up 30 points while taking WelChol! My doctor is telling me that I have no other choices of medicine to lower my count (total 285, HDL 106 VLDL 21, LDL 188, Triglycerids 106.) My sister is having the same problem so I guess this problem is a family thing. I am really troubled by my doctor's lack of concern.
I take (2) 500mg of metformin at breakfast and supper. I also take powder welchol at supper. I would like to take my 1000mg of Januvia at bedtime to help lower my morning blood sugar readings that usually run in the 150's to 160, Any cons to taking the Januvia without food at bedtime?
I am curious if you tried cholestramine or welchol pills for detox? I use the welchol because I can't drink liquid meds.
the first two times, there were a few blockages - 10, 18 and 20%
The last time was in December 2013 with a different cardiologist (I moved across the state)
and he said I had NO blockages at all. HUH??? My lipid profiles are still horrible even with medications.

His answer for this question was: "Those medications took the blockages away."
Of course, I am no doctor but this seems funny to me.
You may want to ask the doc if he can try a bile binding resin like questran or somehting like Welchol. There's also the possibility that calcium could help. But it has to be in a specific form and take ant specific times of the day. Google 'lnape and calcium,' and look at the information provided. The contraindication would be if he has a history of kidney stones or parathyroid problems.
Is anyone pregnant and dealing with colitis. If so do u have less flare ups or more? I'm 8 weeks n my white blood count was a little high they said could be due to my colitis. I have had previous misscarages and hoping my colitis don't effect this pregnancy. Is anyone on meds while pregnant for colitis?
Most of what I find is the symtems for colitis has much to do with diarrhea, but our son get severly constipated, is this normal with colitis?
cancer, ulcerative colitis, crohns. I have to have a colonoscopy. With my symptoms what is the likely outcome? Any ideas? I do not think it is cancer, there is no history of cancer, but I know nothing about crohns or UC.

I have been diagonised as having colitis (amoebic) only from the stool test. The urine is clear. I have also done gyn scans which are all clear. I get very severe pains duirng periods for the last several years - unfortunately I assumed it was period pains. (must take at least 3 cataflams a day to function normally). These pains are normally in my sides mostly left side but I am unable to identify a particular area - the best descripton is left side (inside somewhere) not a localised pain.

my husband had c-diff colitis on and off for the past 3 months, he was given vancomycin for 14 days then after 2 weeks it flare up again. He was given metronidazole for 7 days, but after 2 weeks the diarrhea starts again, what is the treatment for this? Is taken so much antibiotics good for him, it seems it kills the good bacteria. What can you tell me about this.
, i got so depressed because i have been through alot in the past 12 years, i have high blood pressure, high cholestoral, high tryglicites , a lump in my breast and colitis. the colitis and breast thing bother me the terribly. i pray constantly to my God Jesus Christ, and for a while things seemed to be getting better. im so tired too. tired of all the hurt i have been through and what other good people endure. i know the devil hates me. and im ok with it.
