Weight training vest

Common Questions and Answers about Weight training vest

Avatar n tn My husband has been taking our 15 year old son to the Gym with him for weight training in preparation for Varsity Football. My son also lifts weights at school. I was told he bench presses 285 and cling and jerks about the same weight. I also found out that my son has been wearing his weight vest (20lbs) to school every day for 8 hours a day in addition to his 30 pound book bag and 5 pound (each) leg weights. Is this healthy for a young man who is hitting his second growth spurt?
Avatar f tn I'm tired, exhausted, and probably dehydrated. I lost two pounds in water weight on Tuesday night and one pound last night just from sweating alone. I know, I am complaining. I love the fire department but lord help me, I only weigh around 135 and that gear weighs around 60-70lbs. That's almost half my body weight. I'm sore and now I have open wounds where I scratched myself or got a busted blister. These men are tough and they forget that I am half their size and a female.
Avatar n tn I have digenerative disc disease and my neirologist just prescribed topamax, he said it would help with the pain and tingling but could result in weight loss. I am wondering if prescribing topamax for ddd is common among neurologists? I can't seem to find any other information related to topamax as a pain med, only information I have is that it's a powerful drug with lots of side effects, most not so good. The weight loss aspect is the only plus...
Avatar f tn It is very important that you get the correct measurements so that you get the right sized vest. I initially had the large vest, then lost a huge amount of weight and am now a small adult vest. The old vest was riding up under my chin and was very uncomfortable until I got my new vest. Here is the great thing about the Vest, if any parts break or you need a new vest, they replace them without any extra cost. It is under a life time warranty.
Avatar m tn The pain persisted, but would seem to lessen when I stretched and ran and worked out. It just seemed like an inconvenience. I eventually purchased a weight vest in mid-Dec to simulate the weight I would be carrying in the CPAT. I practiced climbing a stairmaster and I also made the assumption that "cardio is good, so cardio with weight is better!" I eventually worked up to running a mile with 50 lbs. Right around the last week of Jan, something new happened.

953033 tn?1246568345 Another thing is that you can buy those weighted vests that ables you to remove or change the weight inside that vest. You just walk around and even when you're just doing your daily household chores while wearing that vest, your body will exert more effort because if its resistance to gravity. If you don't like to invest on any equipment. You can carry plastic water bottles while walking and even just filling those bottles with tiny rocks can help.
198419 tn?1360245956 -) It's my brand new cooling vest! My heat intolerance typically manifests when I am exercising outside. The minute my core temp hits a certain point my left leg gets a mind of its own. If I push it too far then my nystagmus can join the fun. I've tried a bunch of different things to mitigate the heat. Prior to the vest I've tried evaporative cooling neck wraps and hats. These really didn't work as they are no good in humid areas (shoulda read the product description!).
Avatar n tn I did not lose weight. Now due to the medication I am hypoactive. With this it is EXTREMELY difficult to lose weight. Does anyone have any suggestions that may help jump start my metabolism and help me lose some of the pounds I've put on?
Avatar f tn My current job is even more physically demanding with ~10 hours of high intensity work daily in an extremely high stress environment. When I train now, say a 6 mile run with a 50lb weight vest, sometimes I'm concerned about blacking out or failing, and these symptoms have made it difficult to perform at my best (read impossible). The symptoms went away for about 8 weeks, from mid January until about a week ago. Now they're back. My heart is simply not behaving the right way.
144586 tn?1284669764 Railroads have begun nationwide planning, for example, to route such shipments around heavily populated areas, whenever practicable. Extensive training programs are now offered in Pueblo Colorado for first responders teaching them how to handle such incidents. In the case of chlorine, the tanks are normally pressurized to about 100 pounds per square inch, and if a valve is shorn off during transit, it's trouble in River City.
211940 tn?1267884866 Q? With MS, should I be exercising? I have gained quite a bit of weight (30 lbs.), since my accident back in July, last year. In previous years, I would exercise, I have an "exercise bike", that I was doing 40 miles in an hour (and burning tons of calories). Then I had foot surgery and was unable to exercise.
11079760 tn?1483389730 I have also attended seminars, webinars follow a clean organic diet (antibiotic and hormone free lean protein and fish with lots of organic fruits and vegetables, no sugar, no salt, no wheat/flour, no alcohol or caffeine) I have consulted with 3 MS specialists in NYC and flew to the Mayo Clinc in Florida to consult another. I went out and bought a balance vest and a cooling vest. I set up a home gym and joined several MS discussion groups.
Avatar f tn I started horseback riding last year. Trained a Service Dog a few years back and am now training her replacement when she retires. I do not know if any of this helps answer your question.
151263 tn?1243377877 I've heard over and over again that you should drink a LOT of water every day. Most combo vest have told me to drink at least a gallon a day, as it will really do a lot to lessen your sides. They even seem to say it ike this: "Getting ready for treatment? Better learn how to drink a lot of water REAL soon." And say it in a way like "Ohhhh you'll be sorry if you don't...you'll learn alright!
Avatar m tn Every dog we've owned has quickly understood that the birds are part of The Pack, so the birds are able to enjoy their days outside the cages. Honestly, it doesn't take much in the way of training to get the dogs to understand that the birds are off-limits. You have nothing to be guilty about! You did every last little thing possible to save your dog, and ultimately it was her time to go. People who truly love their animals are very special.

Avatar n tn Anyone though that has tried it, and honestly stuck to it, has lost weight. Lots of weight. I have lived a quasi Atkins diet now for the last 5 years and have been up and down depending on how serious I live the diet. Whenever I am serious about it, I lose weight. I don't care what any "Dr" or "study" says, the freakin diet works. I'm goin' on this and will keep you posted.

Avatar n tn I know exactly what you mean, first we worry about ttc, then we worry about staying pg, then it's all about a healthy baby, delivery, SIDs, potty training, development, college and who they'll marry. Like it never ends! Wouldn't trade it for the world though :} I just love being a Mom, that's part why I want more kids so bad. I like today's quote, so true. angi - re-read my post to you, sorry if sounded curt. Yesturday hpt had faint line at 3 minutes.
Avatar n tn I know the feeling. I am 51 and have recently lost about 25 pounds, but have consisently exercised and taken buku supplements. I have noticed my tricep skin puckering at different angles as well as my thighs. You feel like "this is the thanks I get for watching my weight and taking so many supplements that my stomach is screaming!" Forgive me, but at least on a forum, I can be a "crybaby" rather than put up the good front that I do throughout my real day.

Avatar f tn That I just quit eating. I became anorexic... I suppose focusing weight loss, was a way for me to get my mind off of the bleeding. I lost weight, until I was too thin to even have a period. Much to my liking, and my family's dismay. I began to get heart flutters and was forced put the weight back on. I meet my future husband during this time of putting back on weight, when I was 14 or 15… we became best friends, and he helped to save my life.
Avatar f tn After five years of no swimming with my daughter, 5 summers of not wearing a vest and numerous christmas/new year/ wedding parties without being able to wear pretty dresses what I like, I was really hoping that I would have a date to be rid of this forever. I had even told everyone that I was going to have a 'VEST Party'! to celebrate. My friends were all really pleased as they had noticed my confidence drastically reduce due to this.
Avatar n tn I am a 34 year-old active, white female, average height, very healthy weight. I had an interior carotid dissection over a week ago, they think from a sports trauma (though I didn't do anything where I knowingly hurt myself). Luckily, I have 100% collateral blood flow, no brain damage, no shifting, etc...best possible outcome. Interestingly, in addition, I have tested positive for antiphospholipid antibodies (after testing false-positive for syphilis---common, who knew).
551343 tn?1506834118 Hello All, I'm a 35 yr old female that had no prior history of medical issues.I was in the best shape of my life. Running, weight training, no fast food I was trying to do everything right. Back in Jan 09' after what I thought was a really mild cold is when all my problems started. Unfortunatly my story is long but I will try to make it as short as possible. First thing was a burning pain on my neck, shoulders and spine. Then bladder and bowel issues.
