Avatar m tn You might also, have your doctor do some quick blood tests to make sure your thyroid is functioning properly, since an under active thyroid can make weight loss difficult to impossible. The bottom line, though, is that you have to decide that you're going to stay on track, then do it... We're here to help you and can answer questions; you have only to ask...
Avatar f tn Hello everyone. I am just wondering if anyone has any tips on weight loss (foods to eat, exercise to do, etc.). If it is possible, a meal plan would be lovely! I currently weigh 74.9 kilograms and would like to reach 55kg by December at most. I do moderate excessive but I have never been able to loose the weight and it is really getting to me. I am still in high school and would like to loose it before my semi formal, so I can look back and think how much better I look then.
Avatar f tn I am over weight (working on it) I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and possible PCOS. My soon to be husband and I are wanting to conceive. Anyone have any success with conceiving with either of these diagnosis? I need some tips. Thanks!
Avatar f tn My physician responded to my request for help, and being discouraged about my lack of weight loss by trying to prescribe prozac for weight loss and of course depression. Since when does Prozac aide weight loss? I did not receive any response to what else could I do/try/ who to see etc. Or an answer as to what they syntroid was doing for me, since I was still not losing weight, but losing hair, and still had high triglycerides. Also no response to my ??
1317224 tn?1378708734 Thanks, Barb, for the encouragement. Yes, I am a nurse: 6 years in med-surg, 18 in ICU, 4 in emergency room and a few in geriatrics and teaching in an LPN school. Right now, though, I'm unemployed & considering leaving nursing (the industry has changed dramatically & it is difficult to provide even the minimal care that patients need unless you sacrifice your own health)---though it would be quite scary to be a middle-aged, single, mortgage-holding career changer in this economy!
Avatar n tn I would say that it is a 50/50 chance whether you would lose weight in the long run as the product wasn't designed as a weight loss product. (but I'm not a doctor so your dr. might be able to tell you what to expect).
Avatar n tn It should take about 2 months to get to that dosage but I'm getting kinda excited hearing about the benefit of weight loss especially since it was weight loss pills (metabolife and xenedrine) that caused me to find out that I was epileptic in the first place! The doctor told me that i might get tingling in my fingers and i might feel a little dopy but happy dopy he described it as, so I figure i can deal with that! If I start losing weight at a rapid pace i'll definitely post again!
276584 tn?1290586688 , maybe you should chill for a day, and have a nice holiday........... Healthy weight loss doesn't come quickly, but we will certainly help guide to your goal. Aside from the vitamin D deficiency, do you have any other health issues, such as hypothyroidism, insulin resistance and PCOS - metformin is often used for either of the last two conditions. Hypothyroidism requires its own type of med. Please let us know and we will try to help guide you in the right direction.
Avatar f tn The right side of my abdomen is now swollen, it is apparent that is is swollen due to the fact that the other side is sunken in severely after all the weight loss. I am beginning to worry and each day I feel weaker. If anyone has any idea what might be wrong, I would very much appreciate the input.

676032 tn?1315677663 it's been very hard to lose weight, i eat around 12-1500 calories a day and work out around 800 to 1000 calories a day of strenous stuff like running and the weight loss has been very very slow. my period stopped for three months and is now back a little heavier than usual. i'm about to try to sleep, the worst part of my day. i'm extremely sensitive to synthroid and i have to try and start slow this time, i can't wait until i start feeling better.
Avatar n tn I have been trying for months to lose some weight, I had problems with hypothyroidism but since has this regulated and should not be an issue. I went to an Endocrinologist and he put me on virtually no carbs high protein and had about a 5 lb loss and then gained most of it back. I exercise 30 min daily on an Elliptycal machine and for the last few weeks started trying to keep my fat grams less than 35 mg. a day. I don't know what else to try I am about to give up.
649848 tn?1534637300 Now is the time to rethink options and make our resolutions It's time to decide what we are going to do for the next year, regarding our weight loss efforts. I know there are a lot who are having health issues and of course, LIFE takes over sometimes and we don't seem to be able to follow through with our commitments.
Avatar f tn Hello there, If you haven't already discussed a weight loss plan with your family doctor and an exercise plan, it really is a good idea to do this. Your doctor knows your medical history. You and your doctor can discuss how to lose the weight safely, a possible food plan and ideas for exercising, perhaps just walking as walking is one of the best exercises you can do. Good luck with all of this.
1839466 tn?1432596684 I know that with hypothyroidism it is harder to lose weight but this is just crazy. It makes my heart beat fast between 85ish and 100 when I am on my meds. So here are my questions. 1. Is there anything I can do to help lose weight despite my problem? 2. I was considering taking a supplement called Now’s Thyroid energy. Here is a link t it. http://www.bodybuilding.com/store/now/thyroid.html Does anyone have any experience with this or some professional have an opinion on taking it?
Avatar f tn If you are morbidly obese then common causes of weight gain like overeating, lack of exercise, diabetes, hypothyroidism have to be ruled out in your case. You must then look for other causes. One is water retention due to low serum protein. This along with anemia can cause unexplained weight gain. Adrenal gland problems are the other cause. Cushing’s syndrome should be looked for. The kidney function too should be assessed. Late night snacking and poor sleep too can cause weight gain.
5147790 tn?1364308089 You might want to check with your doctor to get some simple blood tests to make sure you don't that hypothyroidism, insulin resistance or PCOS, all of which can cause weight gain and/or make losing next to impossible. Good luck and keep posting.
3113201 tn?1341784538 I didn't know what that was so I researched it, and realized that the result of the medical issue had symptoms I was suffering from (rapid hair loss, trouble breathing, drowsiness, weight gain, etc.), so I panicked. After researching it, I realized that my symptoms began in 7th or 8th grade (when I was about 13 or 14), and those symptoms were weight gain and rapid hair loss, but at the time I though nothing of it and that it will all pass over.
Avatar f tn For the time being I've had to be satisfied with just not gaining any more. I'm not familiar with the meds you are on, but everyone always tells me that weight loss has to be "less calories out than in". Sometimes I feel like I'm going to starve and still don't lose anything. I sure wish I could pass along some "magic" solution. Unfortunately, I can't.
Avatar f tn I have been on a gluten free ;high protein weight loss regimen for a year including adipex and have not lost weight. I do not get a lot of sleep and have a busy social life. Please provide tips on emergency health foods and supplements to use while on the go which is most of the week.

393685 tn?1425816122 //www.huffingtonpost.com/kent-holtorf/long-term-weight-loss---m_b_192933.html I will be googling more information on the Doctor featured in this article ( Dr. Kent Holtorf ) and I encourage everyone reading to do the same. Also the ratio of Free T3 and RT3 that has a strong effect on metobolism. There is another great resource I am reading from Dr. Jack Tips, CCN on weight and the chemical hormone factors associated with hypothyroidism.
Avatar f tn I read online that if you eat too few calories your metabolism slowing down causing weight loss to cease. After learning this I decided to up my calories to 1350 per day. This number is about 400 below what my maintenance calories should be. For the past week I have been eating 1350 calories per day and continuing to work out for an hour per day (cardio and weight lifting). I weighed myself this morning and the scale read 105.5 pounds! So, what is going on!?
Avatar f tn or a similar phrase and you can find different websites with features that can help you calculate your current BMI, what you're BMI should be and how many calories you should be eating to lose weight. Another thing that's helped me stick to my weight loss plan for so long is not to deprive myself of everything I love! I've lost 143lbs so far but I save room almost every day for some kind of treat.
