Avatar m tn We build lean body muscle mass which weight more than fat so the scale reflects no weight loss when in fact the body is trimming down fat. The tape measure will measure loss of inches and your clothes will start to feel looser. As far as food goes, I would recommend a Heart Healthy diet which is a moderate fat diet.

Avatar f tn Do not be discouraged, weight loss can be a slow process but the slower you loss, the higher chance it will stay off. Think of this new way of eating as your new healthy lifestyle and not as a diet. Hope this helps you.
Avatar f tn 15 pounds in a month is too much to do safely. Safe weight loss is 1-2 pounds/week. What have you tried, so far?
Avatar f tn In the past month or so, I have have had weight loss of about 8/9 pounds. I have not been actively trying to lose weight, but I will say I had a baby 3.5 months ago so probably should. However, the fact that it is unexplained makes me nervous. In addition to the unexplained weight loss I have had frequent bowel movements, brittle hair, have a pretty constant urge to urinate. Have random pains in places. I was diagnosed w/ postpartum axiety when i first had my son...but have been much better..
Avatar f tn You're looking to lose almost 30 pounds in 1.5 months and that's almost impossible to do safely. Safe weight loss is 1-2 pounds/week, so that means the most you should plan on losing is about 10-14 pounds. There's no reason why you shouldn't get started, though. The first thing you should do is eliminate sodas or other fizzy, sugary drinks from your diet, along with sugary, processed foods. Center each meal around lots of veggies and a lean protein, with low/no fat dairy on the side.
Avatar n tn There are alot of foods that I need to eat for reduced calories/weight loss but have so violent diarrhea that it makes me dehydrated .. this defeats all I try to do. I need to lose weight due to neuropathies I have from GI surgeries and arthritis.. Any help would be appreciated...
Avatar f tn I think it's easier to lose the weight now for Jackie than if she waited to try to achieve some weight loss in later decades when the metabolism slows making the task more difficult. It's great to be a healthy weight for so many things, lowering risk factors for serious health problems!

Avatar f tn hypothyroidism can make weight loss a total nightmare - that's the trip I'm on... additionally, insulin resistance adds more difficulty.. another trip I'm on.. simple blood tests (TSH, Free T3 and Free T4 for thyroid) can eliminate these possibilities.
Avatar m tn My nutritionalist tells me to do as much cardio as possible, its the best in shedding weight, but as a man i think adding weights once or twice a week will help tramedously as well as it will help tone as u loose the weight and aid in the weight loss. her tips..
Avatar m tn fast weight loss is most of the time lost water and muscles. Fat takes ages to go away. Third: Think of a diet as something permanent. Crash diets just help you gain weight faster once they are over. So, pick some simple rules of a balanced and healthy diet, and follow them. Don't sweat it if you crave for something "bad", to a balanced diet belongs the bad side, too. If you give in now to a small piece of chocolate, it is much better than to eat two whole packages later.

Avatar f tn The Peak 8 routine it will quickly raise your heart rate 8 times for very short bursts, with a cooling down period in between. Ideally you’ll be sprinting or cycling full throttle for 30 seconds with a 90 second cool down in between each outburst. This is the fastest way to lose fat and build muscle in the body. Peak 8 actually stimulates the growth hormone in the body.
Avatar f tn And in reality, this isn’t the case either. Now, to understand how exercise effects weight-loss, you have to understand how your body creates energy, and there are only 2 ways it does it. One is by burning fat and the other is by burning blood sugar, or glucose. Even when you’re not doing anything strenuous your body still burns fat. It’s known as “Resting Metabolic Rate.” So, when you’re sitting at a desk, driving a car, watching TV, or even sleeping, your body is still burning fat.
Avatar n tn The most important one to me has been my weight loss. Since the beginning, 03/09, I've lost 60 lbs and am still loosing. My appetite has been little to none, but I am attempting to change that. Although I still don't desire food, I force myself to eat, but need help trying to figure out what I should eat that will stay in my system longer and give me the nutrients I need to help me stay strong.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone has had weight loss completely unexplained. In 2011 I was pregnant with my second son and I lost quite a bit of weight and was concerned but the doctors weren't since my son seemed to be doing fine. By the end of that pregnancy I had only gained 11lbs back of what I had lost. As soon as I had him I dropped the 11lbs and then some. I continued dropping weight but since I wasn't pregnant I decided maybe it was a good thing, since I was overweight to start with.
Avatar f tn as these give great eating guidelines for not only weight loss, but an overall health boost. For the exercise component, aim to get moving more. This can include just simply going for walks/ light jogs for 1/2hr to 45minutes, 3-5 times per week. It's a great idea to do some resistance or weight bearing training aswell to build up lean muscle mass, but only do this strictly under a trainers guidance, as you'll need to be taught proper technique to safely lift heavy weights.
Avatar f tn I don't tell you not to try to convince people to do what you like to do, I just try to let them know in case they don't that what you do might not work for them and that doesn't mean nothing will work for them. The best weight loss diet I've ever seen is macrobiotics -- those people are thin and have a tremendous amount of energy! -- but I don't push it because I don't personally believe in it for other reasons (mostly it seems to make people nervous and judgmental).
Avatar n tn So many people assume that in order to lose weight, they have to constantly do strenuous exercise....And in reality, this isn’t the case either. 2047155 tn?1527167564 Oh & I used to drink WAYYYY too much soda! I would drink 4) 32oz drinks a day at my work b.c it was .93 a cup w/ free refills & then I would drink a can or 2 a night! It was outrageous! I never realized how much until I started working at my new job & I gain 20 lb from all those drinks. It's a part-time job so i wasn't there everyday but certainly enough to make a huge difference in my weight..obviously!
