Avatar f tn I recently started taking (mineral oil) laxatives in an attempt to lose weight. Which was probably not such a good idea. After a few days of taking more than then the reccomended amount , when i went to the bathroom an orange oily liquid came out (along with urine and stuff) So, what does this mean? Is it bad? Or no big deal? Thanks.

1140989 tn?1429773263 s only water weight. You will not lose fat by taking laxatives. They are dangerous too. You can become dehydrated and worse, your bowels can become dependent on laxatives, meaning you won't be able to go to the bathroom without laxatives. I know a woman who had to have surgery and almost had to have a colostomy (a bag on the outside for bowel waste) because of laxative abuse. It's not worth it really. About the other stuff, I'm sorry you have so much pain.
Avatar n tn They don't work for weight loss...you do know that right?
Avatar f tn For me, it was because of an eating disorder. Trust me when I say this, using laxatives to loose or control weight loss is an illusion. You do loose mostly water and dehydrate yourself. Now, I'm no Dr. However, prolonged use can cause your bowels to be "lazy". So here are some tips to help physiologically and psychologically: -Where you are pregnant, always consult your Dr. Before doing anything.
Avatar f tn Does anorexia or bulimia cause hair loss? And is there any possible way that any of this could cause my hands to shake?
Avatar n tn haha dont do that!
Avatar n tn is it dangerous to take laxatives everyday? This discussion is related to Scared - what is wrong??.
Avatar f tn You are doing what so many people have done and most have had the same sad result – no weight loss. Sometimes, they have even gained more weight. Please know that exercise is not the main contributor to weight loss. In fact, exercise is more likely to make you hungry (hence the phrase ‘to work up an appetite’) so that you may end up eating more and thus gaining more weight. The way you describe your eating behavior makes me wonder if you have an eating disorder, such as bulimia.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with chronic constipation over a year and 1/2 ago, lactose intolerant, malfunctioning gall bladder and not enough inertia in my colon to move matter through it properly. I was taking 13-15 laxatives a day with little to no relief, and definitely no weight loss. The last 2 months, my doctor put me on phentermine. I went in today for my rx renewal and I have not lost 1 pound. She feels the constipation is why, but I do not.
Avatar n tn Laxative abuse is noneffective as a weight loss method. Using laxatives only releases 12% of the calories you eat. The rest of the weight loss is from dehydration. Electrolyte imbalances, low potassium, metabolism abnormalities, sudden cardiac arrest, renal failure are among the medical complications. Under proper medical, nutritional and psychological support, you could stop. You need to ask for support and guidance.
437036 tn?1225284804 i know people see me as being a person a strong person who is easy to talk too, im was really good at hiding the way i was feeling and i dont think people thought any thing of the weight loss when i blamed it on stress- people beleive me and i feel ashamed to lie about it. I am seeing someone 'therapy' wise about the rape but im not bonding with her and dont tell her the truth. i tell her too the weight loss is becuase i am churned up inside...
Avatar f tn I have no idea if this works if you do it the way they suggest, though I can almost guarantee the cleanse has nothing to do with weight loss -- if you stop eating of course you'll lose weight. When you start eating again, unless you change your diet, you'll gain the weight back. Using laxatives can be helpful in a short-term fast, but they can also be tricky. I would think fasting by itself would accomplish as much as drinking lemonade.
Avatar n tn m in my room i get a piece of string and see if i lost weight and i try no to eat food anymore.
6774519 tn?1384675737 I usually have headcaches and loss appetite and somestimes fell dizzy. My lips will dry and peel. This will occur after about 3 to 5 months. I will take laxatives that is when i will feel better. If it happens that i throw out then i will not need laxatives.
Avatar f tn weight loss from an illness; some kind of loss; depression, anxiety, abuse, poor body image, skipping meals; protecting one’s eating disorder behaviors (i.e., lying about eating, restricting when alone, excessive exercise, binge/purging behaviors, restrictive eating); GI problems; and preoccupation with food, weight and appearance. Avatar n tn ve had to add in food to stop my weight from dropping and I lost 7lbs on accident. Even my size small shirts are getting too big, and I'm not really that short, so I'd like to stay the same weight. I'm also very exhausted. I used to be energetic, after all, I do exercise regularly, but now I sleep 9-10hrs a night and by the evening (6pm) I'm so tired it's hard to focus. It's impacting my work and social life.
Avatar f tn This should go without saying, but animal products, whether meat or dairy, in general, are packed with fat, hormones, chemicals, cholesterol, salt, and other things that contradict weight loss and a healthy detox. One of the biggest benefits of a detox is reduction of bloating. Animals products directly cause bloating since they have salt, fats, and lactose that can fill your stomach with gas. The types of products that are NOT vegan include those with whey protein, eggs, honey, milk, or meat.
335268 tn?1195350790 i have struggled with weight issues my whole life and thought i would find the quick fix solution by taking laxatives. When i was 135ibs they helped me get down to the weight i am at now but im still not skinny enough i take about 90 laxatives every 14 days. I'm dying to be thin and am totally addicted to them. Is this dangerous?
Avatar n tn Detox teas do not help with weight loss. The ones for weight loss only work short term because they contain laxatives, which isn't a healthy way to lose weight. Real detox teas are for detoxing, not losing weight.
Avatar f tn I was wondering how much weight any of you guys gained after withdrawing from laxatives and when did it go away? Was there anything that helped keep the weight down? Did you ever get back to you desired weight? Or will I always be this chubby now....? Thanks to those who find the time to answer. I am desperate at this point and have no one to talk to about my problems. My laxative abuse has been a secret from everyone close to me. No one knows about this side of me.
Avatar f tn m 30 and it started when I began to diet and try to lose weight. I was taking many kinds of laxatives at the time too. Through my 20s I struggled with weight and used laxatives and bled much from my colon. It wasn't until recent that I noticed barely no blood in stool but so much blood on toilet paper. So I'm definitely concerned. Do you think this is a sign of colon cancer?
964096 tn?1299507336 I would do your resistance training before your cardio, this can be more effective (especially for women) if your goal is weight loss. You need to work muscles in order from largest to smallest. Start with core (abs/lower back) exercises, followed by legs, followed by chest/back, shoulders/biceps/triceps. I would have you do a total body workout 2-3 times per week to start with making sure to skip at least one day in between total body workouts.
Avatar n tn I've abused stimulant laxatives for about 25 years, mostly on rather than off. Now, whenever I eat my stomach becomes so hard and distended it's like I'm 9 months pregnant. One meal will take all day and night to diminish the bloating a little bit. I've been reading about all the symptoms of severe laxative abuse and is this severe bloating related to this being the end of the line for me with laxatives?
Avatar f tn do you take laxatives alot? sometimes it can take awhile for the laxatives to kick in .
