Weight gain during fertility treatment

Common Questions and Answers about Weight gain during fertility treatment

weight

Avatar f tn Your question is rather ambigious. Are u ttc? And have u been trying for awhile? Are u going thru any fertility treatment? I ask all these coz I find that I tend to gain weight when I'm taking some drugs during a fertility treatment. So, if u r taking some drugs, then they may make u gain weight, otherwise gaining weight before u find out u r preggo could be for some other reason. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I know that when I was going through serious fertility treatment (clomid IUIs, and IVF) I gained over 20 pounds. I think it was a mix of stress of it all and the meds, and lack of motivation to exercise. After I had a miscarriage last July I took a break from it all and started a regular exercise routine. I have lost 17 pounds and kept it off. I feel better and am actually now 5wks 3 days pregnant!! Anyway my point is that yes you can gain weight from going through all this.
Avatar f tn I am 27 and had my last natural period in the beginning of August 2007. My anniversary is in August, and we decided after 5 years (last year) that it was time for children. I went to my primary care when my cycle stopped and he told me to lower stress and gain weight (I was 120 at 5'9"). Since then I've gained about 25 lb and lowered the stress and quit my second job. When my cycle still didn't show, I went to an OB/Gyn.
Avatar f tn I am thinking of my family history of diabetes and that I have been trying to get pregnant with the help of a fertility doctor. Too much weight gain worries me for reasons bigger than vanity. Do you know of any successful pregnancy stories post thyroidectomy? My fertility tests are all normal but I would still need IVF due to my husbands sperm count.
1273473 tn?1270775840 Weight loss is very common during antiviral therapy due to loss of appetite. I lost a considerable amount of weight during treatment and no matter what or how much I ate I couldn't gain. After treatment ended, so did the weight loss and I'm back to my normal weight but it's a constant stuggle keeping the weight off. I have read where several have gained weight during treatment.
200957 tn?1236136923 Can anyone tell me what in the fertility process makes us gain weight. I am a petite woman, weighed about 125, and fortunately despite 2 kids a pretty flat stomach. I can tell I have gained weight. My husband says it's in my imagination. He better say that right? Lol!! Really though what is it that makes us gain the weight. Seems like I am hungry all the time.
Avatar f tn t tracking my weight, I definitely feel like the hormones made me gain at least 5 pounds. My boobs - already big - got bigger too so I might tip over from those before the baby bump throws off my balance! Don't worry about the weight now, just focus on eating right for you and the baby. Congratulations!!
Avatar f tn Is there anything I can do to gain more weight. I eat healthy and everything just not gaining anything.

Avatar f tn Treatment is for 3 months at a time, however, the treatment puts into menopause - hot flashes, depression, weight gain, etc. There is no ovulation, one becomes infertile. I was told by the doc, my chances are slim ....so they will try everything after my treatment to get me preg. After the last treatment (31 July 2008), I will go back to determine as to whether the endo has actually cleared or not. I am so eager to know what's the next steps...
Avatar f tn The reason some of us do Lupron during fertility treatments and still can get periods is that we are given and EXTREMELY small dose compared to what you would be given. It is used during fertility treatments because one shot is used to stimulate the ovaries to produce more follicles/eggs, and a TINY amount of lupron is given everyday to suppress the ovaries and keep them from releasing the eggs until they want them to be released for whatever procedure is being done.
Avatar m tn I had to gain weight before tx and it took about a month before I started noticing a difference. And I ate lots of fatty stuff! If you don't think it will effect your mental state, cannabis will both relieve some of your back pain and give you an appetite.

Avatar f tn (....I cannot seem to get healthy enough for a workout that will help reduce my weight gain. I am concentrating on whole grains, raw foods and yet the weight will not budge. I am very concerned for reoccuring cancer due to heavy weight and also complications with my general health due to the weight. I am medication free right now, except a small dose of Celexa. I have just had the flu/bronchitus for 10 days and it is brutal. I need to get strong to fight off these things....
Avatar f tn Has anyone had weight gain post treatment? I've heard that weight comes back quickly after treatment is stopped. I lost 25 pounds during treatment and I'm very proud of my new figure. Any suggestions on preventing weight gain post treatment?
Avatar n tn Many people who remain hypo do have weight gain issues. Some people who remain hyper gain weight even though most people lose weight. Remaining out of balance, either way, does more harm to your body than adding or removing a few pounds, or a few dozen pounds.
Avatar f tn Hi dear ones,, Iam trying to conceive, i used to do yoga. But as iam on this treatment, i stopped doing yoga. Now my weight is 149lbs, (5.2"). My bmi is showing iam obese. 1262373 tn?1281543782 I think the control of the horomones in the IUD was good for my body, but IDK how to deal with the weight gain. Through e-mail the doc suggested metformin and we will discuss this on tuesday. Any thoughts??
687561 tn?1238400426 I just wanted to say thank you to everyone here who took the time to respond. It means so much to me just to receive your answers - people care and want to help - THANKS! Also just to let everyone know that I am trying to gain weight and I am not trying to be "underweight". I have a goal to gain at least 13 lb.s which will give me a bmi of 18 but it seems like a ridiculously impossible goal at the moment.
216278 tn?1308861082 I lost 87 pounds last year -- was thin all my life, then of course PCOS decided to add major weight to my body -- NOT FUN. Seeing how weight gain affected fertility, I went to a nutritionist and lost it all. Ever since I started with IVF, the weight has been creeping up. DR says that it is all water retention from all the IVF injections. 12 pounds of water?
Avatar n tn If your thyroid or adrenals are off in any way it can cause massive weight gain (especially in the lower extremities), mood swings, all kinds of things including problems with cycles & fertility. Unfortunately all four of the girl's (all were bulimic) are now having major problems with conception. I would go to your doctor, and demand they test your thyroid. If it's off there are fantastic natural remedies that are so much better than the drugs they offer today. Peace and happiness.
Avatar f tn This is very common and gets worse with weight gain. Basically it boils down to an imbalance in hormones. The hormone imbalance results in infrequent ovulation which then results in infrequent periods. It can be difficult to get pregnant with PCOS, BUT one should not count on PCOS to prevent pregnancy--its definitely not birth control! The usual treatment for women who do not currently want pregnancy is oral contraceptive pills. These regulate your periods an prevent endometrial cancer.
Avatar m tn May I know if we will gain weight after stopping the IFN treatment? My doctor said the weight loss is due to increased metabolism during IFN treatment.
