Avatar n tn She has recently done Weight Watchers for one month and followed it religiously. She lost practically no weight. She also exercise at least five times a week for an hour and a half. She is very frustrated and I don't have any answers. Unfortunately, her doctors over the years don't seem to be able to help. Should we be looking at type of insulin? She presently talkes Lantus and Humalog. Does high protein help? Her weight is in her back across her shoulders, in her middle and thighs.

There is a formula involved in calculating BMI. And, in checking the MedHelp BMI Calculator http://www.medhelp.org/calculators/show/1?community I found it perfectly matches that of the National Institute's of Health.

640932 tn?1274132102 So, I am not to sure why your doctor still thinks is weight is at the bottom of the growth chart. I have Cruz's 4 month appt next week, but he will be 4 months tomorrow (on the 11th) and I am only guessing that he weighs a little over 13lbs. Last week he had his hand surgery and he was coming in at a little over 13lbs, so there you go. And he was not preemie he was born at 39wks and weighed 7lb 13oz, so he has not quite doubled his weight but close.
798555 tn?1292791151 Your link took me to Zerbo's. Looking around I could not locate "According to a clinical study....", only products for sale with zero articles on Holy Basil. Also, I could not locate "human" clinical trials/studies on Holy Basil, only on animals. All "human" clinical studies/trials are required to be registered and approved beforehand with the U.S.
Avatar n tn But it's not normal to have to work so hard to maintain the weight I'm at or for you to have to work to reach a weight that is within your ideal weight for your height and frame.. (If you haven't, you can find a chart which will tell you a range that's right for you on the web- try webmd or goggle weight chart. It is NOT normal to be so underweight, be careful of anyone who says that it is no big deal (docs included). It not normal to not be able to eat a full meal either.

Avatar n tn Her drs have told us Zithromax is famous for not completely killing an infection. She was seen at National Jewish and had pneumonia again while we were there. She saw her pulmo a few days before and I told him of her cough and sinus symptoms, so he put her on Zithromax. 3 days later she spiked a high fever and drs there did an x-ray that showed a bad pneumonia. The drs at National Jewish said they don't like Zithromax for that very reason, it just is not effective in many cases.

Avatar f tn I've been reading a lot about how losing weight, exercising and eating low carb foods can help prevent diabetes. But what about peoiple who are already normal weight, have exercised their entire lives and already eat low carb.....what if they have a higher than normal a1c (in the prediabetes range)? What can they do? In other words, is it true that you can't beat your genes?
29837 tn?1414538248 After three months, my ALT and AST shot up from the 80's into the 700's. My Billirubin was off the chart. My urine was chocolate colored and I was in bed for three months, over 20 hrs. per day, sometimes several days at a time without getting up. Naturally, my doctor was very determined to finally erradicate this, but did keep a close eye on my progress and when the alarming results were in from the bloodwork, he stopped treatment immediately.

Avatar f tn Hi and welcome, I don't think it would instill much confidence, if your neuro is basically throwing a dart at a diagnosis chart and seeing what he can squeeze your sx's into and when you don't easily fit, he pulls out old faithful......anxiety. Q: Can you have MS with normal spinal tap? - Yes, a positive LP is suppose to be used as supportive evidence adding weight towards MS but a negative or normal LP isn't suppose to be used as proof to rule out MS, because its not a definitive test.
579258 tn?1250652943 But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength.” ~ Anonymous On an annual scale of stress and life events .. mine is off the chart .. however, it would do no good for me or to others to give in and completely fall apart. I have days where I cry, but more days that I am happy. On both types of days, I remember to count my blessings .. and they are many!
Avatar n tn Although there is no general consensus on the definition of 'low' and 'high' with respect to the viral load, data from the Web pages of the National Genetics Institute give you an idea: As can be seen there, the average viral load is at 3.2 Million eq/ml. - So, to make a simple scheme I would propose the following classification: Viral Load Chart Viral Load in eq/ml Classification Remarks below 200.
Avatar f tn If you are overweight, your hepatologist will probably recommend that you try to lose weight before you start treatment because extra weight adds extra fat to your liver which makes your liver work harder. Since your liver is already struggling with Hep C, it is helpful to lose weight. He/she will also recommend that if you take vitamins with extra iron, to discontinue the iron. They often recommend a colonoscopy every three years as well. Exercise. Fresh fruits and vegetables.
163305 tn?1333672171 The widespread use of these fuels is largely explained by their energy density and ease of onboard storage, as no other fuels provide more energy within a given unit of volume. The chart above compares energy densities (both per unit volume and per unit weight) for several transportation fuels that are available throughout the United States.
Avatar n tn This is why most Marfan patients, EDS patients, LDS patients, or those with very large roots, etc. are placed on exercise restrictions as recommended by, for example, the National Marfan Foundation. Kinoshita et al. published "Aortic Root Dilatation Among Young Competitive Athletes: Echocardiographic Screening of 1929 Athletes Between 15 and 34 Years of Age" a few years back. It is an interesting read and is available for free on medscape.
Avatar n tn The main problem is his weight and the thyroid hormone levels. Firstly the weight. I just spent some time before this post reading the entire literature on the back of the Purina One bag and it says that I should be able to feel/see his ribs. Its been years since that was the case. He has a large noticeable round belly that sticks out the side of him when he lays down yet he acts like he is completely fine around the house and yard aside from the biting at his paws/legs and grass eating.
Avatar m tn Well the vitamin thing is a bit more difficult. I'm at work and can only view the computer chart of the current HMO with the test results shown. And it appears the computer chart doesn't even list every test done. (Don't ask me why?) and I don't think we have access anymore to the old HMO computer lab results page. But as I recall she was in range for D3 but with a huge range that doesn't say a lot.

229411 tn?1189759425 It was really embarrassing calling because I lied and said I had never been to Public Health but they must be connected to County Public Health because she pulled up my chart on the computer! I think she saw the warning about not letting me in there until Sept for anymore tests but I demanded to be tested.

He eats between 35-40 ozs of formula per day. I have been reading up on baby cereal and there are so many different opinions.
Avatar f tn Actually, you're paying the insurance company, and it's the insurance company that only allows 12 minutes for a doc to visit a patient, to satisfy the number of patients physicians ought to see in a day. This is why so many people in America want National Health Care, which we are the only developed nation in the world that doesn't have it, since Capitalism is considered part of Democracy, which it ain't. Socialist policies make perfect sense, for are we not our brother's keeper?
Avatar f tn No lie every doc that I have been to puts all of my symptoms on my weight and the weight gain on not watching my calories.
