Avatar f tn I am a 45 year old female. For the past 20 years or so I have been getting an increasing number of red spots under my skin. They start out very small but if rubbed or scratched by mistake they enlarge. Some of them are bright red and some occasionaly turn bluish. They started out on limbs and chest, but they are now everywhere. My maternal grandmother, and to some extent my other, also have them.
Avatar n tn Three pulmonary emboli within a 2 year period is a serious problem, assuming that each has been confirmed. It is good that you are on Coumadin® (warfarin) but, a detailed attempt to discover the factors that have predisposed you to thrombosis and embolization, such a comprehensive diagnostic investigation, should be initiated without delay. There is no direct connection between pulmonary emboli and tuberculosis (TB), including skin test conversion.
Avatar f tn I started 5 mg of warfarin on friday..today is sunday and i am seriously considering not taking my dose today at 10am. I started my schedule for taking it at 10am daily. When i took my first dose friday at 10am later that day right around 3 or 4 i started experiencing intense upset stomach.
Avatar m tn As for your theories, I have nothing to add or detract, but a safety belt is hopefully never needed, but I wear one anyway. I take both Warfarin and aspirin, but then I have the age strike against me and am in AFib full time.
1415174 tn?1453243103 t worried about having to use warfarin for life. I would only need it for 3-6 months. But the Ortho doc had my leg in a compression stocking for the knee for the first 10 days (before I had the blood clot) this was in Spain. Then I got the blood clot after the plane flight. I am walking now with a walker several times a day. Before it was too painful but now I can. Is it ok even though the leg is swollen to walk? Does this help the fluids move up the leg? I know about the diet issues.
Avatar m tn after an organ transplant) whose bodies might take up to 3 or 6 months to make a detectable amount of antibodies. The CDC will recommend a 3 month window period for a number of reasons, one being that it will ensure that the test is accurate for everyone, including that small group of people who need to wait longer than 6 weeks. The only STDs that are transmitted through blood-to-blood contact are HIV, Hepatitis B, and Hepatitis C.
Avatar n tn I have had some stroke like symptoms, so my doctor did a heat cath and told me I have a weakned heart and while I was on the heart monitor for 24 hours there were some PVC's. I do not know the difference or if they are the same or how it is treated. I have a follow up appt with my doctor, but worry I may have to have surgery.
Avatar n tn m not a doctor, just a patient who has been on warfarin for the past eight years. I had a mechanical heart valve implanted in 2004. I'm medically literate, and I've tried to read as much as I can about warfarin along the way. I even went to a day-long CEU workshop for medical professionals on warfarin management and got the certificate. But I'm still not an expert.
Avatar m tn s for well over 10 years and in recent years very infrequent 20 to 30 second runs of SVT like symptoms while at rest. However a few days ago I had a 2 minute episode of SVT like symptoms during excercise. As I'm a very keen bushwalker and do other related activities away from built up areas this episode really threw me. It is quite scary and puts you into a kind of shock. You can still walk, however perhaps at half pace.

Avatar f tn Again, I have permanent AFib, but am mostly unaware of it, in fact most of the heart trouble symptoms I have likely come from the beta blocker and calcium channel blocker medications I take to keep my HR below 100 at rest, usually around 80. I also take a low dose aspirin, warfarin, and a statin drug to keep my total cholesterol in the 150 range, with AFib 200 isn't good enough.
Avatar m tn I discussed changing to Pradaxa with my cardiologist when that drug first came out, I decided not to use it because of cost (warfarin cost about 12 cents a day) and the fact I do well on warfarin, albeit I have to have my blood coagulation tested once a month. Recently I have seen a lot of "bad news" about Pradaxa including law firm adds looking for new participants in a class action suit, as I understand it...I could have that all wrong.
612551 tn?1450022175 I am considering stopping Ginseng to see if my weight goes back up, but an early test of cutting does in half seems to have resulted in me developing an increase in fatigue, a withdrawal side effect? I also note this cutback test has shown an increase in weight of about half the original loss. I went back on full does last Sunday.
Avatar m tn Hello, Dermatitis, urticaria, alopecia, rash, bullous eruptions, pruritus, and pallor have been reported infrequently with use of warfarin. If you are having these symptoms after use of warfarin then you can talk to your physician and get dabigatran prescribed as an alternative to warfarin. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar f tn Am on warfarin and have been having (only last 6 months) trouble with keeping INR at a reasonable level either too low or too high. At times very tired but then I push myself to get everything I need to do, my speech makes me still very frustrated at times I must concentrate to talk and often come out with speech back to front etc. Is this type of pain normal or is it cardivascular. Can you advise.
Avatar f tn My AFib symptoms are well controlled (resting HR about 80) and I continue to take warfarin to reduce risk of a stroke. I do reasonably well on warfarin and it seems I will be on it the rest of my life. My cardiologist and the consulting EP agree it is unlikely that a ablation will improve my condition, so I have not had one. I have not sought an additional medical opinions.
Avatar n tn The protocol guidelines are aspirin and plavix for year or a little longer if the implant was DES. Drug enduced stents have propensity to form a clot when compared to bare metal stents. After a year the consensus is to continue aspirin (81mg is OK), and unless there is a special need for an additional anti-platelet medication the plavix should be discontinued based on the risk of uncontrolled bleeding, etc. is greater than any benefit.
Avatar m tn I don't understand why being on Warfarin would prevent you from going back to work, it has few side effects for most people is held in the INR range of 2-3. If you happen to suffer a cut, you will bleed more because of Warfarin, but most minor cuts are not a problem. The same, to a lesser degree, can be said about aspirin.
1128565 tn?1316721143 First of all it is not quite clear what is causing all the symptoms but an important and proven factor from a neurobiological point of view is called an anticholinergic rebound. When you stop a antidepressant drug it is very likely to cause interruption of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine (involved in memory and learning and other cognitive function as well widely used when a person is under stress, it's depletion cause a variety of symptoms).
Avatar m tn Has your doctor done given you a reason as to why you are susceptible to blood clots? Usually people with a history of blood clots will be on warfarin for the rest of their life. Im not sure of any other meds you are taking but dizziness and nausea is a common side effect of many meds. Especially meds for heart and blood pressure. And it has been a hot summer..are you getting enough fluids. Nausea, dizziness and diarrhea are symptoms of heat exhaustion and electrolyte imbalances.
Avatar m tn I was told to discontinue it after 8 weeks over a 2 week period and substitute it with atarax. I had very bad withdrawal symptoms ( electric shock feelings, extreme anxiety, muscle spasms and have still got tinnitus). I have been off the ativan for 9weeks now and currently take 25mg x 3 xp/day of atarax. As i still have bad anxiety i would like to know if i took valerian and passion flower would it help my aniety and withdrawal symptoms off the ativan or worsen them.?
Avatar n tn My son has been on warfarin since he was 7 weeks old due to having a mechanical Mitral valve replacement. His INR today is 4.8. The highest it's ever been.He is six months now and just starting solids which may be why the INR has been all over the place. I have been instructed to withhold his dose tonight and I'll test him again tomorrow. I've been doing some reading that INR of 4.8 is undesirable but not overly dangerous. Is that the case for babies as well?
Avatar f tn Warfarin is a blood thinner, this whole anxiety thing began because I had a blood clot and a pulmonary embolism, which lead me to believe that I was going to have a stroke. I am much better now, but I think that is due to the help of the meds, since when I tried to stop taking Lexapro, I felt the anxiety symptoms again. Anyhow, I have slept pretty well since Saturday, other than last night.
Avatar f tn There is a lot of information about Effexor withdrawal on this site. I suggest you look it all up. The withdrawal time varies. Took me three weeks. Others shorter, and others longer. Not easy. Look up all the information on Effexor withdrawal. It is a bit question on this site.
Avatar f tn Im concerned about proarrhythmias and toxicity. High Warfarin dose and resistance to remain in sinus suggests to me that Id need quite a high sotolol dose too. I asked to go on pradaxa - dabigitran etexilate - as Im concerned about calcification, which I already have in shoulder. 2 cardiologists, an electophysiologist and my GP all denied any knowledge of the vitamin K / Calcification mechanism. I wasnt given a thyroxin test ever, I.V. Magnesium or urine test on presenting with af.
