I always assume vegetables are good for me. Are there any I should be avoiding or limiting how much of it I eat?
If you drink, please consider cutting back or stoping entirely. Avoiding green leafy vegetables is a must with Warfarin, but there are other vegetables that you can eat that will help beef up your vitamins, nutrients and fiber intake.

You can eat green leafy vegetables if you are taking warfarin. But it’s important to eat the same amount of these foods each week to help keep your INR stable. This is because green leafy vegetables (e.g. spinach, broccoli, Brussels sprouts) are rich in vitamin K, which can affect your INR.
Don’t avoid vitamin K-rich foods completely — vitamin K is essential to our health.
The amount of vitamin K in your diet may affect your response to warfarin. Certain foods (like green, leafy vegetables) have high amounts of vitamin K and can decrease your INR. You do not have to avoid foods high in vitamin K, but it is very important to try to maintain a consistent diet every week.
Alcohol use also may affect your response to warfarin. Excessive use can lead to a sharp rise in your INR. It is best to avoid alcohol while you are taking warfarin.
I am now in my 6th year with the mech valve and on warfarin. It is definitely NOT true that you have to avoid green vegetables and other foods that have vitamin K. What you do have to do is eat approximately the same amount of such foods over the course of about a one to two-week period as you do in the next one to two-week period. If you just eat what you like, you will tend to do that naturally. It's not hard. Also, avoid binge drinking, as mentioned above.
My only experience is Warfarin (generic Coumaden) for about 15 years. I'm at 5 mg daily, and 7.5 mg a couple of times a week. I am always in the 2-3 range, and guess Warfarin would hold be at 2.5 + if I took 7.5 mg a day. I am not suggesting a dose change, just sharing experience.

If you have a clotting disorder I wouldn't stop the aspirin without talking to your doctor! What is your disorder? I have 2 genetic factors for clots, prothrombin
and lupus anticoagulant. I could give you a list of foods and supplements that will thin your blood but not knowing how much it will take to thin your blood you could have more clots. At age 60 I had 3 clots in my left lung and 2 in the right lung.
I takes 5mg/7.5mg warfarin alt day and 75mg ecosprin (daily).But now i m taking 7mg warf everyday with 75mg ecosprin. so anybody kindly advise me for keep myself fit.

Thyroidectomy 2005, Levoxyl 137, 64 y.o., hair loss, weight gain, sluggishness, etc., as reported by many. I've just found this site after years of thinking these symptoms would be my state for ever, but am now encouraged by all your posts to check my levels of free T3 and T4 more frequently, and try some different dosages.
My meds were changed from Metoprolol to Diltiazem 360 mg per day and Fleconade 50 mg 2x per day plus Warfarin. The Metoprolol 25mcg 1 x daily has been making me wheeze for the past four years, but no one ever thought to change the meds. I have been on this new med protocol for 1.5 weeks. I just started the Fleconide and Warfarin three days ago.
My question is I need to loose 45 pounds asap.
I would like to eat more vegetables in my diet but I hate vegetables. Is there some good snack ideas but still low in calories and gives me my daily vegetables needs. I do like carrots corn green beans and greens.
Given that yesterday he said to not take the warfarin he was changing me from the genertic warfarin and putting me on the brand name of the med coumadin. Said some folks do not tolerate warfarin well but do well on coumadin and i am to start the coumadin today. I would be lying if i didn't say i am a bit gunshy at this point. This med has made me absolutely miserable and today is my 43rd bday...
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF WARFARIN CAN LOWER YOUR BLOOD COUNT AND AND ALSO LOWER CALCIUM AND VITAMIN D LEVELS?
ve tried to read as much as I can about warfarin along the way. I even went to a day-long CEU workshop for medical professionals on warfarin management and got the certificate. But I'm still not an expert. To my way of thinking, the experts are the hematologists, pharmacists, and other health professionals who manage large numbers of people's warfarin on a daily basis.
