ginger and glucosamine sulfate will affect coumadin (warfarin) I'm on warfarin and can't take ginger or glucosamine and a host of other supplements.

you have to think of the worse case senario of switching to warfarin having the warfarin be too strong and your wife getting a bleed of some kind. This could be in her GI track, brain etc. and can be very life-threatening and could cause huge hospital bills.
So, depending on how long she will have to take the plavix for, and what she is taking it for, it may actually be less expensive to use the plavix.
Pradaxa is taken twice a day, shorter life in the body and is cleared from the body quicker than coumadin (warfarin). With warfarin, Vitamin K is used to reverse overanticoagulation in patients, there is no antidote for Pradaxa. Warfarin a lot cheaper than Pradaxa.

My specialist has feferred me for an ablation procedure which I am waiting for now. I was put on warfarin and bisoprolol and due to the nature of my work I cannot go back whilst on warfarin as i work offshore. I was wandering why I cant be put on asprin which will at least allow me to pass my medical to return to work after the ablation. I have been off work for 3 months due to this and without pay which is causing me a great deal of stress and anxiety.
Seven months ago I had a pulmonary embolism and I am told this may have been the second one.I am taking 7 mg of warfarin a day and my INR is 2.5.I had a liver transplant 10 months ago,and was told my vascular system was not great.Given my overall situation I am concerned about heart attacks and strokes.Do you think I should be taking 75mg of aspirin a day as well as the warfarin?Thanks.
She has been on warfarin and monitors it regularly. She also has past history endometriosis and has always had heavy periods and problems with her periods. She also has uterine fibroids that have been giving her problems, even more so since the warfarin. Between the uterine fibroids and the warfarin, her menses are extremely heavy. She is on iron because she tends to be anemic around her period. Her periods are so heavy that she can go through 4-6 large pads an hour, sometimes more.
I have A/F and up to recently took aspirin to help stop clots and strokes, however due to a stomach bleed my doctor took me of aspirin.
I have been on a site that recommends Radix Ginseng and other types of Ginseng, so my question is "Would these really help?" I dont want to take anymore pills than I am doing but could it be a tea or something like that?
Have any of you any ideas about this, or are any of you taking this for the heart?

I believe it could be a FATAL mistake if you stopped taking the warfarin. Mechanical valves will clot without warfarin and this could cause a heart attack, stroke or heart failure and could cause you to have to have another open heart surgery. PLEASE ,PLEASE talk to your doctor about any changes in the warfarin.
A drastic change in diet can alter INR also, but in my own personal experience, it has usually been other meds that caused me to need to change my warfarin dosage and not my diet. An INR that is consistently out of range is dangerous. Don't worry about maintaining the same dose of warfarin. Worry about maintaining an INR that is consistently within range. Whatever dose of warfarin you have to take to stay in range is okay.
Sometimes aspirin is used in place of the Plavix, and the patient will be on aspirin and warfarin. That type of combo regimen is used when the doctor doesn't think that one drug alone is enough to do the job, and one drug obviously wasn't enough in your case. It seems that your Plavix and warfarin regimen is working, so I'll join you in giving thanks for that.
I have been on Coumadin for 18 years due to Lupus Anticoagulant (Antiphospholipid Syndrome) and several DVTs. In 2005 had MI with occlusion of the LAD artery and had drug stent inserted and I am still on plavix. My doc has debated when to take me off the Plavix safely....what are the recent studies about this dilemma? thanks so much!
t take full breath,most of the times and feel tight in stomac and heavy.Can not eat much.When i eat, i feel food is stuck in throat.Went to see my Family doc, and he did chest xray and it came clear. He gave me Nexium for 1 week to try and no improvement and i went to him again, he said it looks like phycological (though i said no)he also checked and said i have spasms in stomac and gave me another medication to relieve .I am using it currently, but no use.
I was diagnosed with RHD (mitral stenosis) and had mitral valvotomy done in 1988(open heart surgery/splitting open the mitral flaps) when Im 30 as I was planning for a family. I'm 51 yo now and I underwent gastroscopy & colonscopy at a hospital in Mar2010 as I was experiencing food poisoning and abdomenal distension, Results were clear except for a minor ucler in the small intestinal wall. A month later, my legs swelled and I was warded for CCF and atrial fribillation.
