Vyvanse tics

Common Questions and Answers about Vyvanse tics

vyvanse

Avatar f tn She has an explosion of verbal tics and some motor tics. She knows just enough to know that her tics looks silly to other people so she holds it in for home. I feel so sorry for her. I don't know if this is ADHD, more like ADD I think. Her teachers would laugh me out of the building if I said she had ADHD. I am so confused, just when I think I know most of everything about autism I find out that I don't know the half of it.
Avatar f tn I currently take Prozac, Lithium (ER), and Vyvanse each 1x a day. I also get an injection of Depo-Provera once every 3 months. I also have an Rx for Xanex, which is to be taken as needed, but I have not taken it in months. I also often self-medicate with caffine pills - I took two 200mg caffine pills yesterday around 5pm. I also took some Aleve at that time, as I have been having eye pain and headaches for the last two weeks and I was hoping to aleviate that pain.
Avatar f tn Is this a tic? All of the motor tics i just mentioned are constant. The vocal tics he makes are sniffing, clearing his throat, and humming. This really hard on him his doctor has tried other medicine to try and controll it and nothing has worked. He started taking vyvanse about a month ago and it doesn't seem like it's working. He is very stressed about going back to school because the kids pick on him for this. It breaks my heart my child has to go through this.
Avatar f tn Right now taking lithium, vyvanse, buproprion(sp?) clonazepam, tenex (for tics) , his tics seem to be getting worse again and his anger is just out of control. We have tried so many adhd meds (dr.s said vyvanse was the last one they could offer to him) cuz he just can't stop he goes and goes and goes, tried a few different meds for his mood, and some depression meds.
Avatar n tn t say for sure, but I think the Intuniv might have been the one that gave my son more tics??? He is 12 and currently takes 50mg of Vyvanse and 15mg Prozac. We just increased both of them as he has been having problems and school and has been oppositional at home. It seems like a few of those meds are treating the same symptoms (abilify, risperdal and intuniv). My son has tried all of them, but not at the same time. Hope you get the help you are looking for.
Avatar f tn My son is 10 yrs old & has been diagnosed with ADHD since he was 6. He has been on Focalin, Adderall, Ritalin, Metadate & currently is taking Vyvanse. He takes 70 mg in am with 10 mg of Prozac & @ 3pm he takes 20 mg of Ritalin mainly so he can focus & concentrate on his homework because the Vyvanse wears off about that time. Then, about an hour before bedtime he takes 0.1 of Clonopine to help him sleep. If he doesn't take it then he is up all night.
Avatar f tn He also was put on Zoloft which made things worse and caused tics. He currently takes only Vyvanse and this helps wonderfully. He went off the Zoloft 1 year after being on it and the tics stopped completely, but still had trouble with the outbursts and anger. My son was exactly like your son and I did not know what to do and was becoming extremely frusterated since I also have ADD.
Avatar f tn My daughter is currently on Concerta 72 (thats two 36 each day) which started in August 07 and seems to have worked really well until January 08. There is no way to raise her dose (and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to if we could) but this doseage is not lasting her all day at school. She takes her dose at 7:30 and the teachers say by 1:30 it seems to be gone. Also, the teachers have told me that she pulls her hair out and it's progressively gotten worse in the last few weeks.
Avatar f tn He has took metadate, straterra, and daytrana and had terrible reactions to them. He is taking vyvanse now but it is causing him to have hallucinations and very bad tics where he will jerk and shudder and make noises out of the blue and they are getting worse. What does your son take Tenex for? If you dont mind me asking.
Avatar n tn While in the 3rd grade, our daughter had problems concentrating in class and the teacher asked us to look into medications for this issue. We did and the doctor prescribed concerta. Within about 3 months she developed the issue of scab picking. This went on for months. The doctor suggested her seeing a psychologist but with knowing our daughter better than the doctor, we felt this was ridiculous. She is a bubbly, outgoing and cheerful child. She picked without even knowing it.
Avatar n tn For the most part, adderal, of course, helps me get through the day more focused, alert, and I am usually happy and ambitious. Sometimes, however, I get tics and a nervous feeling in my chest, along with slight slight chest pain. Much of this may be nervousness or plasibo anxiety, but I am not sure. I do smoke cigarettes and have coffee every day, which may also increase these side effects.
Avatar n tn Could you describe it further or do you have links to any good information on it. I am currently taking Vyvanse. I experienced the side effects your son did when i took any other meds. I am very interested in any non medicinal options that are out there. Please go into further detail if you have time.
Avatar f tn 5 XR until recently and the dr has recommended Vyvanse. Has anyone used this product on a child this young. I have read some side effects and it is scaring me a little.
584432 tn?1218335717 Among other things my son does have behavioral issues (severe adhd, general overall anxiety, mood swings, as well as tics) and is currently on medication to treat these. He gets occasional headaches, has been a bedwetter since day 1, and has begun having vision problems since age 5.
Avatar f tn My son has been takiing this med Vyvanse for adhd, so I decided to take it to see if it would help me with my depression and anxiety, and it worked great, I didn't have any side effect to it. This is why I ask if its okay to take Vyvanse for my anxiety, right now I'm taking celexa but its not doing nothing for me anymore. I've been taking Celexa for the past 3 yrs and I think its time for me to change my meds.
Avatar f tn im on the highest dosage of vyvanse and its supposed to last longer than addorall but it seems to be working less and less...is that possible?? im sick of insurance not paying for this medication yet not getting any other substantial benifit from vyvanse, anyone else experience a increased tolerence to any add meds?
Avatar f tn He takes 50 mg of Vyvanse daily and was wondering if anyone has experienced this side effect with Vyvanse. Thank you.
Avatar n tn my step son is supposed to take vyvanse and clonidine, but he has been out of vyvance for 3weeks now and seems fine taking only clonidine.

Avatar m tn If you have ADHD and a prescription - no worries even if it does show up. If you don't ....then this search showed that, "Vyvanse is detectable in urine up to 3 days after ingesting Vyvanse. Vyvanse is detectable in hair samples for months after ingestion. Though Vyvanse itself only stays in your system four hours post-ingestion, the active drug d-amphetamine stays in your system for 40 hours.
Avatar m tn Just a couple of months ago I was diagnosed ADHD, and Vyvanse was prescribed, along with clonidin. I have to really watch my blood pressure now, because if I miss taking the atenenol, my blood pressure will shoot up over 160 really quick. Is there any solution for people with 2 conditions like this where the medication for one condition diametrically opposes the medication for the second condition ? Would some other blood pressure medication work better than a beta blocker ?
Avatar n tn After 1 month of taking Zoloft, he started hitting anyone that tried to discipline him. He also got tics from this which resulted in putting things in his ear, throwing things, and hearing things in his head. He never could sleep either. I explained this to the doctor and she, of course, upped the dose. The dose made it extremely worse, so I took matters into my own hands and weaned him off the zoloft in 1 month.
Avatar m tn Hello, Childhood tics are not uncommon. The majority of children simply outgrow them. There are prescription medications that can help reduce the frequency and severity of tics, but they generally come with negative side effects. Most patients with tics or Tourette's do not require medication and simply learn to cope with their tics. The vast majority of Tourette's cases are in children and adolescents, and rarely does it continue into adulthood.
Avatar n tn My daughter taking vyvanse several months ago. I believe she is abusing the drug. How would she even do that? The pill is a 50mg capsule, now yes it can be opened and it does contain powder inside. But can you really abuse this medication and please explain to me how you would even abuse this medication?
Avatar n tn My son who is 9 yrs old has started Vyvanse since January of this year. He is currently on about 25 mg of Vyvanse. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it takes a long time to kick in, like about 2.5 hours for my son. So often in the morning he will seem unfocused so will not do well during early 8am test. His doctor and I discussed trying Ritalin first in the morning and then adding Vyvanse, which is the reverse of what many people do.
