1858622 tn?1319813203 I do recommend some on line sites which have a lot of useful information since they are aimed at adults by adults with ADD. The two sites aimed at the adult ADD sufferer that you might want to check out are totallyadd.com and http://jeffsaddmind.com/for-first-time-visitors. Both sites are done by people with ADD. totallyadd was actually a PBS special and consequently is a series of short videos. Quite entertaining and useful. Jeffs add mind really reflects him.
Avatar f tn Her doctor told me that all those meds for ADHD and ADD are mostly stimulates. They exit your body the same day. Its not like other meds where you have to take the meds for a week or two before they get into your system. But don't be ashamed of it. Many people need these meds to be able to focus, etc. Just DON'T stop taking your meds just because of your family.
Avatar f tn I have a lot on my plates as many of us do. I have struggled with this for most of my adult life and am now trying to make it easier on all of us. I am going to do soemthing about it. I am realizing that it is not just about me but about the person I can be for everyone that depends on me.
Avatar f tn He may have to slow things down a bit. One thing for sure is that he needs to recognize that he has ADD and use that knowledge to help him work with it. There is a very good web site on Adult ADD. In fact it was just on a PBS special not that long ago. It has a lot of really useful information and the whole thing is done in video format which makes for enjoyable watching. The site is - http://totallyadd.
Avatar f tn All of these tasks in my mind made me feel very scatterbrained, which I incorrectly thought was caused by the Vyvanse. After being on Vyvanse for about 8-9 months, I decided to stop (still continued on the Lexapro). After a few months, I noticed that I would still occasionally get scatterbrained in the same types of situations, which proved that it was not caused by the Vyvanse.
447130 tn?1225470866 My doctor has diagnosed me with a mood disorder and put me on Abilify. It has helped a lot but I still have NO energy, have a hard time finishing or starting tasks, poor concentration, and trouble with focus. He said it sounded like a little ADD was going on too and out me on Vyvanse. I still don't have a great amount of motivation and he said it would help this but it hasn't. I've been on it about 3 weeks at 30mg. Is my dose too low? Is it the wring med or wrong diagnosis?
Avatar m tn ve had chronic insomnia for 5 years and have been taking medication pretty much the whole time. To make things worse I have been diagnosed with ADD for over 15 years but I have just now started taking medication for that too because I've been unable to concentrate at work. I am taking 50mg of Vyvanse Monday - Friday. My family doctor isn't concerned with my blood pressure but I am. Am I at risk for a heart attack? Should I be concerned?
1575110 tn?1334664635 Hello, I also have adult ADD and I have tried both Concerta and Vyvanse. My doctor wanted me to try Concerta for a few weeks and I didn't like it at all. It didn't agree with me. It made it feel depressed and NOT motivated to do everyday things. I was on a 36 mg dose and when I went back to my doctor I told him I hated it. He mentioned that there is a new medication called Vyvanse and asked if I would like to try it. With nothing to lose, I said yes. I do like Vyvanse.
Avatar n tn I was just diagnosed with adult ADD....I spent about 2 hours with my psychartist as he explained every aspect of this disorder. I was having problems keeping tasks organized at home and at work....i would forgget where i put things, I hated sitting down and doing any form of paperwoek, I am unable to read a book......
Avatar m tn I take 1.5 mg Klonopin + 50 mgs of Vyvanse. I have ADD but the Vyvanse is also prescribed for depression as I cannot take absolutely any antidepressant without incredible agitation. That started several years ago. Here's the problem at hand, as it starts: Every time I sleep, whether day (as in nap, a rare occasion) or night, I have disturbing dreams I can't put a finger on. I'm often very sad anxious and in some type of bad situation.
Avatar f tn T7GOdb_evNo It looks like you are going to somehow try and find a psychiatrist that specializes in adult ADHD. The point is that you are not being treated for ADD, but for anxiety which the ADD could be causing (very common). The problem is - as "Crazy meds" points out - Paxil is difficult to stop. So you will definitely need someone who can help you in slowly cutting down. Heck, I have said this all before.
Avatar f tn I recently had to switch my add meds from adderall xr to vyvanse and I am on day 2 and I feel like I havnt taken anything. I am extremely tired, have anxiety with everything going on around me at once, and I cant concentrate at all, I walked around my kitchen for 15 minutes not knowing why i wass but knew there was a reason then finally got my car keys that i was needing to get in the first place. Is this normal?
Avatar f tn I'm 16 years old, male, 6'3", 185 lbs. I have been prescribed Vyvanse to treat my ADD symptoms for about two years (currently at 70mg), and the results have been amazing. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA or higher in every grading period so far in my highschool career. But, I have recently noticed that I often get dizzy while doing cardio workouts, and a dangerously high heart rate. However, I'm in no means out of shape, and am extremely ripped.
Avatar n tn //www.corepsych.com/2009/06/vyvanse-dosage-for-adhd-finding-the-safe-top-of-the-window/ and check out the blogs he mentions. There is also a good chance that when you tried the adderall, you took too much. With all the these meds, you need to start slowly and let your body get used to them. Same thing might be true for the V. At any rate, do talk with your doc after reading up some more on V. This also might help - http://www.addadhdblog.
Avatar n tn There are two very good sites that deal with adult ADD. I think you really need to do a bit more research on the whole issue. The first site was actually a recent PBS special. Its all done in short video clips (which drives me crazy). Its - http://**********.com/#/welcome/ The second site is by someone with ADD and it reflects his condition to some extent. It has a ton of information. Don't try and take it all in in one sitting.
Avatar n tn I can't afford Vyvanse anymore, it's $150.00. We switched insurance plans. I don't like what Adderral XR did for me either. I feel like just stop taking it all together. I haven't had it in 4 days now.
Avatar f tn Does anyone here any experience with taking Vyvanse for AD(H)D and Xanax for anxiety? I experience anxiety pretty much daily and my psych doc seems to think it's because the symptoms of my ADHD make me feel anxious and depressed. I am wondering if this is true or common for someone with adult ADHD, or is it just a symptom of the current stress in my life? Thanks in advance!
1666464 tn?1303225358 I don't have answers but I have a question and Idk who to ask bc mt Dr seems to wanna add more meds and that's not the answer. started seeing a Dr for ADD about 4 months ago, we first started on 3-4 add a day which did not help, I was agitated all the time and not focused, I also have severe anxiety. So now she has me on the Vyvanse and Xanax which worked great for the first 3wks focusing on point, calmed down some.
1287128 tn?1331134538 ( even though its not a stimulant ive read mixed reviews. I dont quite understand how adhd meds work. Im wondering if anyone has a suggestion or simular experience with the problems ive had and what works. She said if straterra didnt work she wanted me to try adderall. i dont want a racing heart... i dont understand making me jittery will allow me to focus better?!
Avatar n tn Has anyone tried the drug vyvance for CFS...it is typically used for ADD. My lyme disease doctor suggested it and says those with lyme disease who suffer with fatigue has benefitted from it. Just wondering if anyone has ever tried it.
Avatar f tn Opps, I meant the last post to be addressed to KatNipper
Avatar n tn That is a lot of drugs to give to someone who is a kid. Also, 100 mg of Vyvanse is a high dosage for a kid. Has your mom tried to reduce the number of medicines. Maybe try Vyvanse only in a small dosage to begin with. I also agree with DFW670 that your nephew needs to be correctly diagnosed by a specialist in children's mental health. Do not give him any medication without a proper diagnosis from a respected specialist.
