Common Questions and Answers about Vyvanse for adhd

vyvanse

Avatar f tn I am very healthy except for this disorder, but was seeing a doctor for medication, Strattera when I went on medicaid. Does medicaid cover Stratterra, Vyvanse or Concerta and other ADHD or ADD medications?

Avatar n tn But if sge is abusing it she will likely start to complain about having an extremely high tolerance for the vyvanse...
665851 tn?1225826009 Some people with ADHD develop coping mechanisms that look like OCD, when not medicated, because they are trying to cope with the fact that their life feels out of control. It's entirely possible that, when taken off of the medication, your son WAS feeling very anxious because his ADHD symptoms were overwhelming, because of his lack of medication, not because of the medication. Two members of my household take Vyvanse for ADHD and have had no issues.
Avatar f tn When i was about 5 or 7 years old thats when my doctor told my mom i have ADHD. My doctor gave me to take Vyvanse and Strattera. The Vyvanse i take is 60mg capsules and for Strattera i take 60mg capsules to. I had problems over the years. I get distracted very easily but i try not to look or be distracted but its hard sometimes. especially when people are talking, making noise and being annoying is distracting me. There are other stuff i turn my attention to though.
Avatar f tn I highly prefer Vyvanse over adderall because I do not suffer from side effects w/Vyvanse as with the adderall. The Vyvanse is much smoother than most all other adhd drugs. I have never experienced shortness of breath while taking Vyvanse, however, I am 25 years old and 180lbs. I am also a Registered Nurse. I would imagine that these annoying side effects will eventually subside with continued therapy w/Vyvanse. Give it 2-3 weeks becaue his tolerance needs to build up first.
Avatar f tn I started on the Vyvanse mostly b/c I also suffer from ADHD and it is really great so far for my attention at work. However I am really leery of taking new meds especially if I do not need them and even so I would like to see how I react to one before taking others on top of it. Anyway b/c I have ADHD those types of medicines don't interrupt my sleep like they would most people so I have no trouble with getting to sleep.
Avatar n tn My question is this: Has anyone taken adhd medication such as vyvanse and is in recovery from adrugs and alcohol?
1218509 tn?1267490923 t clinch my teeth hardly at all and my wife shared my mood was substantially more positive and my outlook more optimistic. I heard vyvanse is used for ADHD and ADD but the drug, even at 20mg (lasting 8-10hours) has positive impacts on the psycho-social arena. I know of other veterans who the VA put on psycho meds and its tearing up their lifes and the meds they are taking have horrific side effects such as obesity and loss of sight and risk of heart failure....way to go VA...
Avatar f tn You will notice the effect within min of taking the meds if they are the right one for the individual. Better impulse control such as a decrease in motor mouthing for ADHD for example and they will calm down. Some one with SCT will do better with fuctioning in complex social situations like a room full of people having conversations. Their processing speed with will increase so they can keep up with whats going on and not feel so lost.
Avatar f tn Am I the only one who experiences this? Is Vyvanse for just focusing or can it be used for depression? I want to hear some input about Vyvanse and its effects. I'm on it now and if I wasn't, I know I wouldn't be typing this. Thanks to whoever reads or comments about my question!
Avatar m tn t do a thing for them. If Vyvanse does nothing for you, except make you depressed, then perhaps another medication may be worth a try. If it does help you, maybe there is a similar alternative you can try. My first medication was Vyvanse and it happens to work well for me. I already take an antidepressant, so if it does make me depressed I'm already covered...lol. And the bad mood thing...
Avatar n tn Well, its most common use is for anxiety - which is fairly common for people with ADHD. You can read more about it here - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Propranolol What I don't understand is why your doctor didn't explain this to you. Especially if you are prone to anxiety, the not knowing only makes it worse.
Avatar m tn Hi there, looking for insight on lifestyle habits to better manage bipolar and ADHD disorder. Taking 600mg of lithium and 30mg of vyvanse. Wondering what nutrition choices, sleep patterns and work loads people adopt to better manage there experences with or without the medication. Also looking for information on dealing with anxiety as a result of school stress and side effects from medication.
Avatar m tn Just a couple of months ago I was diagnosed ADHD, and Vyvanse was prescribed, along with clonidin. I have to really watch my blood pressure now, because if I miss taking the atenenol, my blood pressure will shoot up over 160 really quick. Is there any solution for people with 2 conditions like this where the medication for one condition diametrically opposes the medication for the second condition ? Would some other blood pressure medication work better than a beta blocker ?
Avatar f tn //www.corepsychblog.com/2009/06/vyvanse-dosage-for-adhd-finding-the-safe-top-of-the-window/ Best wishes. Let us know what happens!
Avatar m tn Do let your doctor know what is going on. Finding the right dosage is many times a trial and error thing as all people are different. And yes, there are other meds out there that may work better, but all that starts with a trip to the doctor. Give it another shot and then if things still aren't working "tschock" has some very good advice. Avatar f tn For people who have stayed on their recommended prescription, there should not be withdrawal symptoms. So as long as you have adhd, and were prescribed V for your adhd and you have followed the prescription.....you should be ok in terms of withdrawal. What you are going through - at least in terms of concentration and sleeping - is a return to how you were before you started the medication. In short, adhd symptoms.
Avatar m tn I am not prescribed nicotine gum for ADHD, it was just something I read about online 2 years back when I was struggling severing with ADHD at the beginning of graduate school.
Avatar n tn My son who is 9 yrs old has started Vyvanse since January of this year. He is currently on about 25 mg of Vyvanse. The only thing that I don't like about it is that it takes a long time to kick in, like about 2.5 hours for my son. So often in the morning he will seem unfocused so will not do well during early 8am test. His doctor and I discussed trying Ritalin first in the morning and then adding Vyvanse, which is the reverse of what many people do.
573297 tn?1304709140 my pdoc asked me to get my son a referral to him. I did but of course that takes a little while. Meanwhile, my son is on Vyvanse for his ADHD but as with all the stimulants; they get him like night and day and it isn't pretty. He presently has a boxers fracture from getting in a fight with a boy and punching him in the head. The other kid had a concussion. The situation was treated like an assault because the other kid didn't even fight back. This is just the last major event....
990354 tn?1307132886 My son has a px for 40mg Vyvanse in the am, with a 10mg Adderall boost for afternoon/evening work as needed. This morning, before I found an answer to whether or not it is safe, he took the two pills simultaneously - he has 2 final exams today and thought this would help. I'm quite worried - he left the house 35 minutes ago and I haven't found an answer yet. He has tolerated both medicines well, and at one time had a px has high as 70mg for Vyvanse.
Avatar f tn My husband took Vyvanse for 14 months for adult ADHD. It worked for the first few months and he was able to do a lot of projects around the house that he never would have done before; I was impressed. Then, I noticed he became short-tempered and irritated very easily, which eventually turned into full-blown aggression. We did not associate this with the drug so he kept taking it. Then we moved and he decided not to get his Rx refilled by a new Dr....
Avatar n tn //www.corepsych.com/2009/06/vyvanse-dosage-for-adhd-finding-the-safe-top-of-the-window/ and check out the blogs he mentions. There is also a good chance that when you tried the adderall, you took too much. With all the these meds, you need to start slowly and let your body get used to them. Same thing might be true for the V. At any rate, do talk with your doc after reading up some more on V. This also might help - http://www.addadhdblog.
Avatar m tn If you have ADHD and a prescription - no worries even if it does show up. If you don't ....then this search showed that, "Vyvanse is detectable in urine up to 3 days after ingesting Vyvanse. Vyvanse is detectable in hair samples for months after ingestion. Though Vyvanse itself only stays in your system four hours post-ingestion, the active drug d-amphetamine stays in your system for 40 hours.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Vyvanse for over 3 years now, 1 60 mg tablet daily, however they believe it has something to do with my blood pressure being high now. Im 40 years old and this is the only thing that I have been able to try and not feel myself after taking, and I have never had a hard crash after taking it. It was actually GOD sent... So I stopped taking it and now I can tell the difference and struggle a lot daily.
