Vyvanse dosing in adults

Common Questions and Answers about Vyvanse dosing in adults

vyvanse

2106542 tn?1333928139 I'm a 40 year old male. I took Concerta 27mg about a month ago and felt slightly more caffeinated than a cup of coffee and no "focused-attentional" effects. Now I am on Vyvanse 30mg with similar results, a slight perception that my attention is more focused and less distracted, but I'm not positive about that. When I go off the meds I get tired and have crazy lucid dreams. I either want a med that works or get off completely.
Avatar f tn Taking amphetamine (i.e. Adderall, Dexedrine, Vyvanse), in the last 14 days" This quote is from - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phentermine I find it very hard to believe that when Phentermine use is containdicated in those who are taking amphetamine (i.e. Adderall) that your doctor would say that they would not interact. And Topamax is prescribed for antipsychotic-induced weight gain.
Avatar n tn This seems to occur more often in adults with heart problems. If a person has been taking Vyvanse evidence of this drug can be detectable in the urine from 1 to 3 days and even 5 days .It is best to see a doctor if the symptoms are severe. I sincerely hope it helps. Best wishes and regards!
Avatar f tn My 13 year old daughter has been on Vyvanse for almost 4 years now! She is on a 40mg. It works well when she takes it but the lasting effect is getting shorter with time! It now only last maybe 4 hours. So witb school and the homework...its almost impossible to get it done! Her Dr. Said uping the mg wouldnt help. So should i just change her med altogether? I like it cause she dont have bad side effects to it and i am scared to try something new.
Avatar f tn I'm 16 years old, male, 6'3", 185 lbs. I have been prescribed Vyvanse to treat my ADD symptoms for about two years (currently at 70mg), and the results have been amazing. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA or higher in every grading period so far in my highschool career. But, I have recently noticed that I often get dizzy while doing cardio workouts, and a dangerously high heart rate. However, I'm in no means out of shape, and am extremely ripped.
3063045 tn?1340654053 on 30 mg of Vyvanse 3 times daily. by 4 pm or so I am extremley tired.. is there a reason?
Avatar f tn Reduced me back to 40mg Vyvanse in the am and because I said the 100% d-amp (realizing that is in effect what Vyvanse is after it cleaves) was making me too jittery switched me to a new drug - Evekeo. Which is 50% d-amp and 50% l-amp... From what I can research (bad habit on my part) the l-amp is what causes all the side effects people don't like in Adderall? The 50/50 split of D/L amps is, from what I can tell, the exact formulation of Benzedrine - which was removed from the market?
Avatar n tn we have tried several meds. currently he is on 50 mg of vyvanse, 40 mg of citalopram and 2mg of abilify a day. his behavior is beyond horrible. should i just take him off meds?
Avatar n tn My question is this: Has anyone taken adhd medication such as vyvanse and is in recovery from adrugs and alcohol?
Avatar m tn I was thinking that maybe the mixture of D and L enantiomers in Adderall works better in my body than the 100% D enantiomer in vyvanse. (neuropharmacology was my favorite class ever so I know a little bit about this stuff.) The first two weeks of Vyvanse let me take care of my priorities efficiently and without any procrastination. Additionally, it shut up my racing thoughts, which was such a relief.
Avatar n tn s eating through your system too fast. I have heard other people talk about a lull in the afternoon from Vyvanse. I was on it for quite awhile. If you are having anxiety, it's typically when the stimulant is LEAVING your system when you're ADHD. The key to treatment with stimulants is to have something to help you come down after getting a good 12-16 hours of coverage. Many times with stimulants, Tenex or Clonidine are added to help the come down and help with side effects.
Avatar f tn Heart-related problems — ADD / ADHD stimulant medications have been found to cause sudden death in children and adults with heart conditions. The American Heart Association recommends that all individuals, including children, have a cardiac evaluation prior to starting a stimulant. An electrocardiogram is recommended if the person has a history of heart problems.
Avatar n tn m hoping that it will kick in first ( is it within 30 minutes?) and then after it kicks in to give Vyvanse. We are hoping that in a few hours when the effect from Ritalin crashes down the Vyvanse will then have peaked and so that he won't suffer from anxiety that's common from Ritalin since Vyvanse gives a euphoric effect. Anybody has tried these drugs in this order?
Avatar m tn I would think sleep plays a big part in memory and levels of anxiety. Perhaps the vyvanse stimulation gets me so focused my breathing is shortened and anxiety develops. Since taking the Vyvanse I find it easier to get up in the morning. I'm more focused switched on and attentive. My drive is empowering and my self confidence has improved. I'll have a look at those sites tomorrow.
Avatar f tn I disagree with the analysis above regarding Vyvanse withdrawal. My neuro-psychiatrist indicated that, unlike other ADD medications, my missing 1 day was the cause of Extreme fatigue, depression, irritability along with ADD symptoms. NOT INCLUSIVE EXPLANATION: Vyvanse uses adrenaline/cortisol (fight-flight hormones), stopping is similar to exhaustion following an intense situation and recovery time correlates to how long you've been taking it.

12880268 tn?1427636775 m normally only prescribed 40mg Vyvanse once in the morning and 10mg Adderall in the afternoon. I guess I just wanted to pull an allnighter to work on homework, but that obviously didn't work... :/ I think what I'll do is drink some water and lay down for a bit with a fan on and some blankets. If things get worse, I'll go in. But the Hydroxyzine seems to be helping a bit. Again, thank you so much for responding so quick!
Avatar f tn t prescribe stimulants for adult add/adhd sufferers because it works differently on adults, it speeds adults up and effects the heart too much..where as with children it makes them less hyperactive and helps with their concentration. How are you feeling now? Hope things are settling down? Straight back to the doctor to change meds I think!!
Avatar f tn This is my 3rd month on Vyvanse. 1st wk on 40mg. I was on 30mg prior. I feel fine for the first 2-3hrs after I take it. If anything I tend to hyperfocus on things and have to make myself switch tasks. However around the 3-4hr mark my heart starts pounding, head starts feeling foggy, face tingles, vision gets super blurry, I lose all motivation and get irritable. I have taken my blood pressure multiple times during that period and it's perfect.
Avatar m tn Ignore allmymarbles. The ******* goes and posts anti-medicinal therapy on all of the ADHD posts. I'm sure they wouldnt vaccinate their children either. Anyway, I'm a graduate student at Harvard, and I as well have ADHD. I'm on Vyvanse and it COMPLETELY changed my life. It's the least addictive of all the stimulants and proves the have the least side effects. I'm a happier, more organized, productive, focused, and calm person.
Avatar f tn I needed 130-150mg Vyvanse + ~ 20 mg dex IR in the evenings to get through a full days work in university. I was on this dose for 8 years, earned an honours BSc. in chemistry, and then my specialist lost his license, (unrelated to prescribing high doses for me), and now I can’t find a doctor in Ontario, (Canada) who will help me.
Avatar n tn has prescribed him Celexa for the OCD/Anxiety disorder. I have read that this medication is not recommended in children. Is it safe for him to take this medication? Or is there anywhere I can look for information on the use of this medication in children?
990354 tn?1307132886 m currently on vyvanse 50mg in the morning WITH. Adderall 10mg , and in the after noon I take another 10mg adderall. The best person to talk to is the psychiatrist and being completely honest with WHY your son took it together with vyvanse... the therapist might just prescribe him adderall twice a day. It's honestly a bigger deal that you're looking online. People without ADHD will quickly assume it will turn into an addiction, he's abusing, etc.
