Avatar n tn I have read a few books regarding tantrums with this condition and it says you have to try and see yourself in your childs shoes. They are living in a completely different world to us and while we want them to adapt to our world why cant we adapt to their world. Obviously there are boundaries to this but you could maybe try adjusting to what she is wanting, Is there a reason for her tantrums? Does she throw them out of the blue or on certain occasions? How bad does she get with them?
Avatar n tn my 5 year old just started all day kindergarden and now has new friends and a new bad attitude. He started throwing temper tantrums when he does'nt get his way.But worst of all he can't keep his hands to him self,he throws stuff and hits his friends when things don't go his way. I want to know how to stop the tantrums, and the hitting!
Avatar n tn A lot of children throw temper tantrums for a lot longer. Temper tantrums are okay for this age. Most likely nothing caused the temper tantrum and it is just a phrase (a normal part of development).
Avatar n tn She lost her mother in June 2008 and tantrums have gotten worse. She back talk, kicks at the floor and walls for at least 30 minutes at a time. She has been through therapy but didnt see any results. In time out she screams to the top of her lungs until she is horse. She constantly craves to be center of attention at all times. This is behavior that she expressed before her mother passed away from cancer. If she doesnt get her way she takes it out on her younger brother also.
Avatar f tn She is not teased by anyone, and we/councelors/social workers all agree she is angry and has a reason to be and does not know how to express it so she throws tantrums off and on. On a good note after 5 days of no tv or computer or IPOD she has on a daily basis been doing good in the afterschool program. Thank you all for your comments and suggestions it does help to talk sometimes!
Avatar f tn m just trying to suggest things that could help stop the tantrums and the feelings of being unloved in the future and help both you and your husband have a united front with the kids.
Avatar f tn He is obviously acting out b/c he is insecure about his dad leaving, right? have you tried just holding him during these tantrums and telling him that you are there for him and that dad will be back very soon?? It sounds like he may just need reassurance. Maybe discipline is the wrong thing right now b/c it's over insecurity issues, not rebellious tendencies. Does the dad call and talk to him? That may help also.
Avatar n tn The only thing I can suggest is to allow her to take her temper tantrums until she's finished, then speak to her and let her know you don't like her temper tantrums. I know that she may not understand completely, but if you ignore the temper tantrums, she'll hopefully get the understanding that she isn't going to be picked up when she cries. Let her get as much energy out as possible. Let her play as much as possible.
Avatar f tn Was on WAY too many meds at too high of dosages (Vyvanse 70mg, Clonidine increasing dosage). Temper Tantrums/Rages that could last for hours. In a year and a half, we've made great progress. We cut/changed his meds. He's now on Vyvanse 30mg twice a day, Tenex 1/2 tablet twice a day, and melatonin 1/2 tab at night. We rarely have temper tantrums/rages and the every day destruction of our house is under control.
Avatar n tn server shaking, weak legs and dry mouth plus short temper maybe pinic attack. xanax at night/ vyvans in the moring.
Avatar m tn My 5 year old son has recently started throwing horrble tantrums and my husband and I are at our wits ends. He can be so sweet and loving for a very long time and then it's like someone threw a switch on a caged lion. He is in kindergarten and his teacher says he is always well behaved and liked by all the children in the class. We have taken toys away, sent him to his room, denied TV, and time outs.
Avatar f tn My 2 year old son is not talking. He says 3 words (thank you, Spongebob & look) but not even mommy or daddy. He will be 3 years old this November 19. He will point and make a whimper like sound for something he wants to communicate, but if its something he can't have it will get ugly real fast. He will throw a fit big time. Since he does not talk its hard to communicate rules to him. He does not seem to understand of doesn't care to listen.
Avatar f tn He also was put on Zoloft which made things worse and caused tics. He currently takes only Vyvanse and this helps wonderfully. He went off the Zoloft 1 year after being on it and the tics stopped completely, but still had trouble with the outbursts and anger. My son was exactly like your son and I did not know what to do and was becoming extremely frusterated since I also have ADD.
377493 tn?1356502149 Hi there. My 13 month old has recently learned a new skill...temper tantrums..lol. I mean laying on the ground, screaming with his fists balled up temper tantrums. I didn't think these started until he was a bit older, but here we are. Typically it happens if we are in a situation where I have to take something away from him. I always try diversion first...take away what he shouldn't have and give him something he can have such as a favorite toy.
Avatar n tn My 4 year old son has been having temper tantrums for the past couple of years. Our pediatrician has referred us to a behavioral specialist but I am concerned that he will be misdiagnosed as 'autistic.' He is very loving, outgoing, social, smart, and considerate, especially to his sister. When he is over tired he has these tantrums that are terrible, he repeats things over and over, screams for over an hour and in inconsolable.
Avatar f tn I have a 3.5 that has temper tantrums at school that can last more than 5 mins. She doesn't like nap time but she has never napped well. She doesn't have bad temper tantrums at home and now the school wants to have a conference regarding her disruptive behavior. Everything I have read shows this is common behavior for 2-4 year olds. Has anyone else had these issues with their child?
Avatar f tn Children who are bipolar may exhibit severe temper tantrums during which they release manic quantities of physical and emotional energy, sometimes with violence and physical property destruction. 2. The duration and intensity of physical outbursts and temper tantrums differs in the two disorders. Children who are ADHD usually calm down in twenty to thirty minutes, whereas children who are bipolar may continue to feel and act angry for up to four hours. 3.
Avatar n tn This 6year old throws temper tantrums to play a game on the I-pad. Throws temper tantrum if he plays a board game and losses. He drew a picture to show how he killed his grandma and then had the electronics. What to do?
1694121 tn?1306316932 Does my three year old need to be evaulated or is this behavior age appropriate? He is very aggressive and seems to be out of control. My partner and I are at a loss for how to help him. He does not respond to punishments: timeout, spanking, loss of toys, privileges etc...
Avatar n tn Your daughter is at an age that she's able to comprehend what you tell her but yet her brain needs time to process. First, make sure that you have her attention when you are giving her directions or instructions. Second, speak to her in a clear voice where you are not speaking too quickly or are mumbling. Give her time to register what you are telling her. If she still doesn't respond. Tell her a second time maybe in a different way.
Avatar f tn Is she in pain? My daughter has temper tantrums when she is constipated, tired and hungry. She has bowel problems and is occasionally in pain. Kids also get growing pains and so many other things. The world can seem like a scary place to a little kid because they are aware of how helpless they are. Is your child seeing a therapist? Is she seeing an occupational therapist or a behavioral pediatrician?

Avatar n tn Hi, you are going to have to give more information than this. I'm not sure what post you are refering to. Might be best to just give the data on your daughter and see what kind of response you get.
Avatar n tn Hi , My daughter will be 5 in 3 weeks and in the last month or so has begun throwing extreme temper tantrums. These tantrums include kicking, hitting and crying uncontrolably for over an hour sometimes. We have tried holding her so she won't hit, talking to her, we even got desperate enough to spank which did not work at all. Nothing works.
Avatar f tn t listen, never does what he is told and his tantrums are leaving my husband and I at our wits end. One minute he can be so good and adorable and then he changes like you have flicked a switch and goes crazy. I am so worried that there may be an underlying condition.
