Vyvanse and skin picking

Common Questions and Answers about Vyvanse and skin picking

vyvanse

Avatar f tn Adderol is like Special Forces who goes in to accomplish a specialized mission, and then leaves.. On the other hand, Vyvanse is the army, does all the heavy lifting and 95% of everything else. I am not addressing drug addiction — just what my doctor says is a common prescribing practice with Vyvanse.
Avatar n tn i haven't, but you're not the first person to report hair-pulling as a side effect of amphetamines. for a while i did develop a terrible habit of skin-picking from adderall, it didn't start until i'd been on it for 2.5 years already and it lasted for just over an entire year... i've quit it now but still have light scars on my face from picking at tiny little imperfections until they bled...
Avatar n tn My skin easily gets cut from touching anything and then I end up picking at it until the scab gets bigger and bigger, and finally until it leaves a scar. My mom tells me to stop, and I want to but I can't. I'm afraid I will never meet anyone this way...too afraid to show myself. What can I do? Avatar f tn He takes 50 mg of Vyvanse daily and was wondering if anyone has experienced this side effect with Vyvanse. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I do think I have some form of OCD, im not too sure if this has anything to do with my skin picking but im a major perfectionist too. Friends and teachers can’t believe how neat my work is laid out at college, and how perfect my make up and hair has to be etc, and please don’t think it’s me being vein or anything lol. My bedroom is cleaned and tidied to perfection, and I feel the need to tidy and clean the whole house every day before I go out.
Avatar n tn Then I will keep picking and reopening it, making it red and sometimes bloody. My mom and grandmother nag at me all the time to stop, but it's just so hard. I know that I souldn’t pick, and even while I am in the middle of picking a scab I am still thinking “Don’t pick!! Don’t pick!!” But for some reason I still do. I am normally a very neat and clean person and like to look my best, so I try to cover up where I have picked with concealer.
Avatar n tn Correct me if i'm wrong, but Obsessive-compulsive disorder arises from having usually an irrational fear or an obsession which makes you feel uncomfortable and in order to combat that fear, you utilise an action (compulsion). This will often create a downward spiral without treatment, as soon, not performing the compulsion will make the obsession seem worse. If you have a tendancy to pick at your skin with no fear causing it, then I think it's just called compulsive skin picking.
Avatar m tn Skin picking is usually a nervous habit. Neither medication lists "skin picking" as a side effect. Try not to pick at your skin and eventually you can break yourself of this....but it's nothing to worry about.
Avatar f tn Some common SSRIs include fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, paroxetine and sertraline. The study listed other pharmacologic treatments for skin picking, such as inositol, clomipramine, doxepin, inositol, lamotrigine, olanzapine, naltrexone and riluzole. In addition, the study suggested that the prescription medication worked best if combined with cognitive-behavioral therapy. Read more: http://www.livestrong.
Avatar m tn While waiting for our appointments I have decided to keep her on the generic Zyrtec daily and her attitude is better and the skin picking has nearly stopped. Could the scab picking and her allergies be related or is the Zyrtec treating a psycological issue? This discussion is related to RE:RE: Compulsive scab picking.
372760 tn?1201475897 I have this nail picking and chewing thing and my cuticles are terrible and they bleed. I am not sure if it is nervousness or fear or just plain depression. I feel your pain as I am constantly trying to hide my fingers by curling in a fist. I think you may do this as a diversion from other life situations so this is my take hope that works.
Avatar n tn During the summer, we took her off the medication and lo and behold the picking stopped and the sores healed. School started back and the teacher called asking why she wasn't on medication this year. We went to the doctor, told her we didn't want her back on the concerta and she prescribed Vyvanse. Here we are, mid school year and are months into her picking again. It is totally out of control now and she has approximately 10-15 sores on her legs/hands.
Avatar n tn My question is this: Has anyone taken adhd medication such as vyvanse and is in recovery from adrugs and alcohol?
Avatar n tn I have been on meds for a WHILE and I do NOT see the urge to quit my picking. My son has ADHD and he is CONSTANTLY picking at his cuts and scrapes, he looks like a junkie and his arms and legs look SO bad! How dare I tell him to stop when I am constantly in the mirror picking myself, having him look for blackheads on my dog, etc? I also have had an eating disorder for about 25 years now (bulimia and infrequent months of anorexia).
Avatar f tn I just found out about you guys and that I am not alone in this picking. I need some help to stop the picking at my crotch though. Any suggestions will be helpful. I only do it when i am in the bathroom going to the toilet. I wipe the I scratch, and I scratch hard, I try to get the skin off. Luckily I don't succeed, but it hurts and I suffer and I want it to stop.
Avatar f tn Yes! I thought I was the only one out there who picks on the soles of their feet. It started when I was pregnant, I thought my body was lacking in some nutrient causing my soles to be dry and cracked. But it has continued, my youngest being 3 years old. I pick at them so much my children try to stop me! I have the same problem with scabs. It takes months for mosquito bites or cuts to heal because I can't seem to leave them alone.
Avatar f tn No dose seemed to fit for me. But, I lost the weight I was needing to lose (20 lbs) and if I go off Vyvanse, will it come back on with a vengance? I have heard hunger just is out of control when stopping this drug. So I am afraid to stay on it and I am afraid to go off it.
Avatar m tn I am taking Vyvanse and Prozac, and I'm having trouble getting myself to eat. I am still in a healthy weight range, so I'm not worried about that. But I've been weak, fatigued, and dizzy at times because I'm not eating enough. Are there any protein shakes I should try, or something like that, so I can be getting the nutrients I need? I hate most protein shakes because I can't stand the texture, and they're usually gross. But I have to do something.
Avatar m tn I checked for side effects for Vyvanse but aside from stomach pain, and diarrhea no other relatable side effects were shown. I was curious if anyone taking this medication or similar type of medication has experience this or been able to manage this issue.
Avatar n tn I am 20 years old and have been picking and biting the skin off my hands since I was 8. I do it consciously and sub-consciously and feel guilty and self hatred afterwards. They are red raw down to the beginning of my wrists but I can't stop. From researching online dermatillomania and compulsive skin picking seem to be the two terms most relevant to what I do. However various websites say that it is an OCD-related disorder whereas others say it is self-harm.
Avatar m tn Hi there, looking for insight on lifestyle habits to better manage bipolar and ADHD disorder. Taking 600mg of lithium and 30mg of vyvanse. Wondering what nutrition choices, sleep patterns and work loads people adopt to better manage there experences with or without the medication. Avatar n tn My dogs keeps picking at his skin tags and making them bleed. Is this serious and can lead to anything else?
Avatar f tn It would be best for your bird to have a physical exam, bacterial and fungal culture, feather and skin biopsies, blood work to determine lead and zinc levels, as well as CBC and Chemistry profile, and possibly even radiographs. At the very least, please bring a sample of fresh droppings to your vet for analysis, since you may be lucky and it may just be an giardia lambia parasite infection, which is treated with an antibiotic.
Avatar f tn My 10 year old son, who is ADHD, was taking 30 mg of Vyvanse and it worked fine for like a month and half. The doctor increased his dosage to 40 mg and it was working great, but again the effects seemed to have diminished in two months. The doctor recommended to keep him in the 40 mg of Vyvanse, which he takes in the morning, and in the evening give him 1 mg of Intuniv. Do you know if that will help with his concentration at school?
Avatar m tn I started to try different doses of Vyvanse and Adderall, starting at 10mg Vyvanse and going up to 50mg, and starting at 5mg Adderall (IR) and increasing to 10, at most, 4x a day. All of these medications seemed to increase my depressive symptoms, and since I wasn't really retaining much or cognizant of how I was doing, I ended up going three weeks without touching my homework, going to class or talking to my friends.
