Avatar f tn Hi everyone! Thanks so much for reading - I'm hoping someone who has experience with this might be able to help steer me in the right direction. - First of all, I'm female, 23 years old, 5'3, about 135lbs - I have been prescribed Adderall ir for Adult ADD and treatment resistant depression for about 3 years now. In the beginning, we started with just 5mg - and it did wonders for me! It was like a switch had been turned on, and I could see clearly again.
2164295 tn?1337019528 I am currently taking Vyvanse 70mg in the morning, 10mg of Adderall (short acting) in the evening, and trying to implement a daily nap schedule. Over the last year the cataplexy I experience has increased and my muscle tone has decreased. I lost my job in September of 2011, because I was having such difficulty getting up to go to work and staying awake at work. I have tried taking Wellbutrin XL for the cataplexy but I don't think it has really done much.
Avatar m tn Not good. You definitely want to look for a specialist. Might want to scope out your throat to see if there are also problems down there. Under side effects for Nuvigil it says, "Skin and mouth sores, blistering, and ulceration have been reported with modafinil and NUVIGIL in the postmarketing setting. Recurrence of signs and symptoms of serious dermatologic reactions following rechallenge has been reported in some cases.
Avatar f tn He takes 50 mg of Vyvanse daily and was wondering if anyone has experienced this side effect with Vyvanse. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I have struggled with fatigue for years, and the one thing that has helped me the most is a medication called Nuvigil. I have sleep apnea and depression and anxiety. I was put on Seroquel and Lexapro. These last two helped lessen the depression and anxiety but made my sleepiness and fatigue much worse. Also, I was putting on a lot of weight due to a strong craving for sweets every afternoon.
Avatar f tn I take Nuvigil every morning and Ritalin throughout the day when I get tired. The good thing about Nuvigil is it is long lasting unlike other stimulants. My sister (who also has narcolepsy) turned out to be allergic to Nuvigil so she just takes adderol all day and she is having a really hard time managing it. Probably the hardest thing about narcolepsy is getting other people to understand the condition. Most people will just think you are lazy and unmotivated.
Avatar n tn My question is this: Has anyone taken adhd medication such as vyvanse and is in recovery from adrugs and alcohol?
433485 tn?1321813390 Now I am noticing that my anxiety and depression are coming back....I have researched on the internet about Nuvigil and one of the side effects is anxiety and depression, so I am going to stop taking and call him. My question is has anyone else experienced this? I go see him in December for my med maintenance appt. I want to add that this is a bad time of the year for me as my 19 year old son was murdered in Dec. of 1997 and his birthday is coming up on Nov. 29.
1147609 tn?1263583431 Two weeks ago, I weighed 135. I've weighed that for most of my not pregnant adult life...but all of a sudden I now weigh 130. It fell within two weeks. I've started so many new drugs and am new to MS...so I'm not sure what could have done it. It certainly was NOT diet as I had a very hearty Christmas. :) I'm on Copaxone, Celexa, Nuvigil, and just finished up a round on 1000mg of Medrol for an exacerbation. I started both the Copaxone and Nuvigil three weeks ago.
797195 tn?1240579823 I've been on both Provigil and Nuvigil. There is NO comparison. Nuvigil is hands down MUCH more effective to me than Provigil. Provigil always gave me a "rush" upper feeling. It felt like I was a little high. Provigil, on the other hand, is a slow and gradual release. I take it in the morning, and within an hour or so, I notice I can just concentrate better and am less tired. Its very gradual and lasts a lot longer than Provigil.
Avatar f tn No dose seemed to fit for me. But, I lost the weight I was needing to lose (20 lbs) and if I go off Vyvanse, will it come back on with a vengance? I have heard hunger just is out of control when stopping this drug. So I am afraid to stay on it and I am afraid to go off it.
Avatar m tn I am taking Vyvanse and Prozac, and I'm having trouble getting myself to eat. I am still in a healthy weight range, so I'm not worried about that. But I've been weak, fatigued, and dizzy at times because I'm not eating enough. Are there any protein shakes I should try, or something like that, so I can be getting the nutrients I need? I hate most protein shakes because I can't stand the texture, and they're usually gross. But I have to do something.
Avatar m tn I checked for side effects for Vyvanse but aside from stomach pain, and diarrhea no other relatable side effects were shown. I was curious if anyone taking this medication or similar type of medication has experience this or been able to manage this issue.
295756 tn?1247125892 Is Nuvigil supposed to be a drug for Fibro? you're saying? I've been trying to find a new doctor for over a year since my old one left town, and I don't have my appointment until August, so I haven't heard of it yet. I think I'd better write this one down is they're saying its for Fibro and you had such an adverse reaction. I also find that allergic reaction to meds or other things often, as in your case, affects my face and scalp (aren't we lucky....
620048 tn?1358018235 I tried a free 7 day supply of Nuvigil; I found that it lasts longer than Provigil, and seems pretty powerful. I found myself a little irritable, and had some rapid heartbeats, but that's something that can happen with me if I take a decongestant, so I wouldn't say that you would have the same side effects. I would suggest that you take it pretty early in the morning, as I really had a hard time sleeping, even with meds to help that.
2288403 tn?1339564728 Did you both get it thru/paid for by your insurance? I've heard they won't cover it unless you have nercolepsy. I have Cigna. I've been on Amantadine for a year and a half and it definitely could be way better. I'm soooooo tired all the time.
Avatar m tn I also have severe obstructive sleep apnea, and use a CPAP at night. The provigil does keep me from napping during the day, and I take it when driving longer distances. I would caution you that taking a stimulant does not make up for lost sleep, it may work for a couple of weeks, months or so, but the lack of sleep will come back and manifest itself and make things worse. You should get treatment your sleep apnea.
Avatar f tn The pharmaceutical company that makes these two drugs (nuvigil and provigil) has a program that your neurologist should have the application for to help you pay for the prescription. I will try to find out what the name of it is (I am on it). I ended up getting my provigil for free. I will look and hopefully post back later today!
Avatar m tn Hi there, looking for insight on lifestyle habits to better manage bipolar and ADHD disorder. Taking 600mg of lithium and 30mg of vyvanse. Wondering what nutrition choices, sleep patterns and work loads people adopt to better manage there experences with or without the medication. Also looking for information on dealing with anxiety as a result of school stress and side effects from medication.
Avatar f tn My 10 year old son, who is ADHD, was taking 30 mg of Vyvanse and it worked fine for like a month and half. The doctor increased his dosage to 40 mg and it was working great, but again the effects seemed to have diminished in two months. The doctor recommended to keep him in the 40 mg of Vyvanse, which he takes in the morning, and in the evening give him 1 mg of Intuniv. Do you know if that will help with his concentration at school?
Avatar f tn hi olly, despite what we might call it, there is no such thing as a MINOR heart attack. It sounds like maybe you are in the same way as I was - little heart damage and fortunate to get medical attention quickly to prevent something larger happening. I take modafinil (provigil generic) which is pretty close to nuvigil, with no problem and my cardiologist knows I am on this drug. They key is to talk to all of your docs and make sure they know and approve of the drugs you are taking.....
