Common Questions and Answers about Vvi pacemaker ventricle

pacemaker

Avatar m tn His heart rate was in the low thirties. Three days later he had a pacemaker implanted, his heart rate the day of the surgery was 27. His EF was normal and he had clear cardio arteries. His blood pressure was around 145/85-90. He was walking about 3 miles up and down hill 3 to 4 times a week. He has never had a heart attack. He is a type two diabetic with an A1C of 5.5 and is overweight. On new meds his BP dropped to 117/70.

Avatar n tn I don't believe a pacemaker is used to control AFib. Perhaps your father has other heart problems. The most common use for a pacemaker is to keep the heart from beating too slow, or stopping. Some times a PM is used when the heart electrical system has to be totally shut down, in which case there would be no AFib or other arrhythmia, but this is not done to my knowledge, to control AFib.
1526054 tn?1291588594 A left bundle branch block is basically a cardiac condition, diagnosed by an abnormal echocardiogram, where the electrical impulse to the left ventricle is delayed, which results in the left ventricle contracting later than the right ventricle (they're supposed to contract at the same time, just like the atrium contract at the same time. That is why you here only 2 heart noises in a normal heart, typically called lub (atrium) dub (ventricles).
Avatar f tn is not meant to v-tach. It is ventricular pacing. When my pacemaker is pacing my ventricle, I feel like an express train is running in my chest, sweat and exhausted. Yes, with the pacemaker, you still can feel the irregular pulses. It depends the programming what the doc set to. If he set to permanent pace at ventricle then you might be unable to feel one. But it is the stupid setting (permanent pace at ventricle) for a non pacemaker dependent.
Avatar f tn The ventricular part is 100% pacemaker, the Atrial was only 3% pacemaker. I found out 3 weeks ago the Atrial is now 49% pacemaker. The Atrial has been going down for 2 years. What effect will that have with my double chamber pacemaker. Apparently my Cardiologist foresaw this happening, I hope. Is it natural to lose all of the electricity in your heart and still do fine with your pacemaker? My new Cardiologists don't seem at all concerned.
Avatar n tn My stress test results showed that a sizable fixed region of diminished perfusion involving the inferior wall of the ventricle extending to the apex as well as a smaller less conspicuous focus of diminished perfusion involving the anterior wall of the left ventricle. What does this mean?
Avatar f tn In this condition, activation of the left ventricle is delayed, which results in the left ventricle contracting later than the right ventricle. This condition in itself is not of any major concern, but the underlying cause should be diagnosed but it could be primary.
Avatar n tn You was probably born with this defect and nothing can be done to correct it unless you have a pacemaker but there would have to be a concerned delay in the left ventricle for this. You are at greater risk of needing a pacemaker at some time with this condition and It's not really dangerous.
Avatar f tn My doctor said that he set to pacing the Atrial and sening the ventricle, stay that way is better. The holter report said that my pacemaker is pacing the Atrial and pacing the ventricle. I don't know why he wants to tell lies. I also got the 2 leads pacemaker and my av node ablated in 1985. The doctor said the pacemaker will pace out of any rhythms. As soon as the pacemaker is working, don't have to worry about the rhythms including V-Fib.
Avatar n tn (The present of this 7 years old pacemaker is my number 4.) He then set the Atrial lead to sense. Ventricle lead to pace (Only pace when necessary). Any abnormal rhythm or unwanted rhythm that the Atrial lead sensed, the ventricle lead will pace it out. Doesn't matter if tachy, brady or fib, it will pace at 60 until my heart rate and rhythm get back to normal. Then the ventricle lead went back to "stand by".
Avatar m tn This can lead to the need for a pacemaker. As well, the right ventricle was never designed to be able to pump blood out under high pressure to the body. Therefore, over time, it can fail, which leads to congestive heart failure, arrhythmias, and death. Obviously, without evaluating your husband myself, I can’t say for sure what needs to be done. However, I would consider several general concepts.
2073485 tn?1331662298 Sometimes i can be watching tv, or laying down or just standing and i get this shock like pain near my left breast (which is wear the pacemaker is). Is it possible to feel the pacemaker sending electrical signals to the heart? Does anybody else experience this? Thank you!!
Avatar m tn Individual with isolated chronic RBBB are generally asymptomatic and do not require a pacemaker. But if serious symptoms such as fainting, etc. occur, then a pacemaker. If RBBB causes the right ventricle to increase, this enlargement can diminish the supply of blood to the lungs resulting in a reduced supply of blood to the left ventricle and then into circulation. This condition would be heart failure. Hope this gives you an insight with RBBB.
Avatar m tn I think it depends the original of rhythm coming from. I only know mine one. When I have AF, it'll travel straight down to Ventricle. I have my av node ablated. Unfortunately (trouble maker grows) or may be forturnately (not pacemaker dependent), an accessory pathway grew during the heart block. Now when I have AF, it goes down to ventricle 100% and become VF. I also got SSS. I didn't have ICD, only a 2 leads pacemaker can pace it out.
Avatar m tn I had a pacemaker inserted back in December.I now am not certain that this was the right decision my question is will the pacemaker cause other problems to my heart?
Avatar f tn The left ventricle is normal in size. Normal left ventricular wall thickness. Left ventricular systolic function is low normal. Stage 1 diastolic dysfunction is present. Severe septal hypokinesis. Septum appears markedly hypokinetic. There is no thrombus. Right Ventricle: Right ventricle is normal in size and function. Atria: Both atria appear normal in size and function. Mitral Valve: The mitral valve is normal. There is trace mitral regurgitation.
Avatar m tn What this all means is that the major function of the rca is to feed the muscle of the right ventricle, the bottom half of the left ventricle, and the bottom third, or so, of the septum. As blood travels down these highways it detours down several critical 'side streets' First it takes a turn down the conus artery and the sa nodal artery. These vessels are responsible for feeding the right atrium and most critically the sa node.
Avatar f tn Everyone is different, but I chose a cath ablation when I had my arrythmias instead of medicine and pacemaker and I am very happy I did it that way. I had the ablation done in 3/98. for Right Ventricle Outflow Tachycardia. There were two areas ablated and I haven't had a problem since. Done and over with and I am 40 now.
Avatar f tn With a low EF there is a reduction of the heart's output. The symptoms of this medical conditions could be edema, weight gain, decreased urine output, dizziness, syncope, restlessness, anxiety, fatigue, weakness. With ample compensating factors, a low EF may not present any symptoms...if there is decompensation, the above symptoms, etc. would be apparent.
Avatar m tn It means your left ventricle is lower than average at pumping blood around the body to feed oxygen/nutrients. This can be caused by many things and your Cardiologist will run some tests to actually establish the cause, and then start the best treatment. Most of the reasons can be fixed and over time your left ventricle should go back to normal. Some reasons for cause can be high blood pressure, too much alcohol, faulty valve, blocked coronary artery.
Avatar f tn Now I have a 2 leads St Jude pacemaker. I also got 3 leads in my heart. The current pacemaker is number 4. It implanted in 2002. Not the new model require 2 leads. It depends how many leads that your husband needs. Oh, I rather say it depends your husband's EP choose how many leads for him! They're one lead, two leads. three leads and even four leads pacemaker in the market. Does your husband still has wpw? Was he had the open heart surgery for wpw?
Avatar m tn Well my situation is a little different, but I also had to get a pacemaker. I had a sinus node modification and two weeks later had to get a pacemaker put in and that was ten days ago so I know what you are going through. How are you adjusting? I am just trying to take it one day at a time. I am so scared that I will pull my leads out from doing too much...
