Bile is usually green or yellow, in our dogs experiences. If it was white and foamy, it could be frothy mucus...hard to really say.
If it was a one time thing, just watch him carefully for other signs of distress such as abnormal panting, unusual behaviors such as rolling repeatedly or getting into the "praying" position often, diarrhea, not eating, or if he seems to be biting or bothering at his flanks, or tummy bloating.
Humans produce bile after we eat. Dogs produce it before which can be one reason dogs often vomit in the mornings. You might try feeding a few small meals a day. Will she eat her food with a little canned for and water? If not, try cooking up some chicken or lamb and rice and feed that a few times a day.

My 13 month old Teddy has been eating his dog poop and this morning he throw up yellow bile, is this normal for a shih-tzu? I am worried and wondering if I should take him to vet. He eats Purina Complete and it his throw up is in the morning once in while. He does eat people food but did not get any last night. I left him alone for a while last night and that is not normal.

I have a 9 month old spayed lhaso apso that within the last 2 weeks has started vomiting yellow bile only during the sleeping at night hours or early in the a.m. She's extremely healthy with a good appetite and bowel movements. She's very energetic. I feed her Beneful by Purina. She does not throw up during the day. We recently took her to the beach in california and she ate some sand, could this cause the problem? She has all of her current vaccinations.
If anyone is feeding Purina brand of foods it would be a good idea to read these consumer reports..many dogs and cats are getting ill!

t eat grass outside like our other dogs do. The other dogs eat grass and then vomit; it seems to cleanse their insides but the shih tzu doesn't do this. Just a guess - maybe you both have shih tzus with sensitive tummies. Ask your vet about eating grass (not smoking it).
Like I said, this is just a guess. Do what your vet recommends and if their diets seem to be helping then just stick to it.
I have a 2 year old yellow lab. He has a very sensitive stomach. Only food he loves is Blue Chicken and Brown Rice.
Friday and this morning when I give him just the dry nuggets, immediately after he eats them- he vomits. He doesn't seem to be sick. He is his normal, playful, self. No diaherra.

Ondanestron, which is the generic for Zofran, is a great medicine for dogs that are vomiting. You can purchase it from a human pharmacy (with an RX from your vet) and it is also generally cheaper than Cerenia. It clears the system in 8 - 10 hours and my dogs are generally over the vomiting and ready to eat at that point. Give it a try - talk to your vet.
My one year old has dry yellow poop this morning. He is eating and drinking. The only changes have been that last night I let him have a bbq pork bone. Can this be his problem? I also have given him rawhides but this is the first dry poop he has had.

It sounds like he just has an upset stomach, probably from eating something he shouldn't or in reaction to a change of diet or just due to the kind of diet you are giving him, if that's appropriate. I am replying assuming your puppy has had all its puppy shots at the vets, otherwise Parvovirus would be a major concern. I just want to know if any of you had similar problems with your dogs. Shes a 2 year old husky and coughs non stop 24/7 gets worse at night. She some times throws up a foamy mucus, some times its yellow and other times she has thick green snots in it, she has a phlemy kind of cough other times dry. She recently started throwing up her food, we tried changing it thinking its food allergies, she ate it fine but threw it up the morning after.
I have four dogs and all of them have been itching like crazy, generally at the base of their tails (low back). I have a 10 month on pit bull/great dane mix who's been the worse. He's starting to have bloody patches that are turning into baldspots. Over the last week he's also had quarter size bumbs/welts ALL over his body.
Like I said, all four are itching right above their tales CONSTANTLY but..the pit/dane is showing the most symptoms.
Then day 7 was severe vomiting of a bright yellow substance then vomiting of blood the next morning. I took her to the vet, she was given fluids, and a blood panel was done. Later that day we were called in to discuss her condition. Her kidneys were failing. The blood work showed her numbers being more than tripled what they were supposed to be. So according to the vet we had a decision to make.
