Vomiting vs regurgitation

Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting vs regurgitation

vomiting

Avatar f tn If she's vomiting this frequently, I would definitely recommend getting routine blood work (to evaluate her white and red blood cells, and kidney and liver function). That's one of the least invasive ways of ruling out liver or kidney failure. It's also important to different if it's vomiting vs. regurgitation. Vomiting is active retching (often with a yellow bile color) vs.
Avatar f tn By "being sick" do you mean vomiting or do you mean that he just doesn't feel well?
Avatar f tn I had a stress echo done and it showed I had trace aortic regurgitation. The cardiologist did not seem to be concerned and said to have another echo done if I show new symptoms. I am worried because I heard that aortic valve regurgitation from aortic root dilation can progress quickly. I am concerned since the stress echo did not seem to have measured the aortic root and it bothers me to have to watch and wait when they haven’t looked deeper into the cause of the aortic valve regurgitation.
Avatar n tn There are no valve issues. Mild and trace rfeadings are medically insignificant.
Avatar n tn A problem that can be confused with vomiting is regurgitation, which is the ejection of contents of the esophagus. Food moves quickly through the esophagus to get to the stomach. If the muscle of the esophagus loses tone, the esophagus dilates (Megaesophagus). A dilated esophagus does not effectively move food to the stomach and the animal will regurgitate food usually shortly after eating. You might want to take him to the vet.
Avatar f tn After vomiting I still feel nausea and burping. Both of them only after induced vomiting. This has taken a toll now. I usually sleep 8 hours a day. I don't drink or smoke. Yes I do eat alot of spicy food and citrus also adds in my diet. But I have stopped such food intakes for the past three weeks. But the problem has grown. What should I do now?
Avatar f tn It can also cause a discomort in the chest and heartburn and regurgitation of food. Have you have ever swallowed wrong and feel that pain in your throat and chest? Thats what esophagal spasms can do. When you threw up that time you may have had irritation from the contents you threw up. Its often acidic and can hurt your throat.
Avatar m tn DOES ANY ONE KNOW IF TRACE VALVE REGURGITATION OF THE MITRAL AND TRICUSPID VALVE CAUSE SHORTNESS OF BREATH AND CHEST PAINS?. I HAD AN ECHO FOR SOB, AND SOME CHEST PAINS. MY DOCTOR SAID ITS A NORMAL ECHO AND NOT THE CAUSE OF MY SYMPTOMS. I AM HAVING A STRESS ECHO VS CATH FOR NOW, IAM IN NEED OF SOME HELP. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME WITH ANY INFORMATION THAT YOU MAY HAVE.
Avatar f tn It is not unusual to have some valves that leak, and the term is mild, trivial, slight, etc. leakage (regurgitation), and almost always considered medically insignificant and never advances or causes symptoms. Moderate to severe regurgitation can cause symptoms of shortness of breath, chest pain, fatigue, etc. I have had moderate to severe leakage of a valve for many years, and doesn't cause any significant symptoms. the doctor suggests waiting longer to see if any symptoms develop...
Avatar f tn Was diagnosed aged 20 with mitral valve prolapse and mild regurgitation..25 years later most echos show no sign of regurgitation though..Can I take amoxicillin afterwards??
Avatar m tn After couple of months, I started getting more burps this time and also regurgitation. Initially, I used to have burning sensation through my esophagus. I have started taking the Prilosec 20 mg before breakfast and dinner. Now, I am not getting any heart burn sensations. But, I do get LOTS of burps in a day. Its more than 100 per day!!! Sometimes, I will not be able to burp at all and lot of discomfort. Especially, when I laying down, I CANT burp. I have to get up or sit to burp.
Avatar f tn Patients with GERD do not normally vomit. What they do experience is called Regurgitation. Regurgitation is the feeling of acid backing up in the throat. Sometimes acid regurgitates as far as the mouth and be experienced as a "wet burp." Are you referring to this as vomit? As a general rule that "burp" burns as it contains stomach acid. Those are typical symptoms of GERD. But uncommonly and in rare cases, it may occasionally come out on forcefully as vomit.
Avatar f tn My 17 year old son had a sports physical and complained of light-headedness and vomiting twice in the past two months during strength training at his school. Sometimes he has also complained of having trouble breathing during the workout when he was wrestling for the school two years agol. The physician would not clear him. He has since had blood work (all normal) and an echo cardiogram.
Avatar n tn I am 61 years old white male with aortic root aneurysm measuring 7 cm x 7 cm considering having an operation. Echo shows aortic valve functioning ok with trivial aortic regurgitation. Normal size LV with normal systolic function and 71% ejection fraction. Slightly calcified trileaflet aortic valve. CT confirms size of aneurysm. I have interest in my Aortic valve being spared to avoid taking Coumadin. What are my options?
Avatar n tn At the time I was hospitalized for congested heart failure, EF was 29-13%, 100% blockage of the LAD (remains blocked but collateral vessels growth have provided a natural bypass, the LCx is/was 72% blocked (not stented) and the RCA 98% blocked and stented to help provide additional blood to the distal portion of the heart due to blocked LAD. Also, mitral valve regurgitation. Regardless there should be medication for the high blood pressure and cholesterol.
Avatar n tn Severe mitral regurgitation, ASD, and VSD. I was then sent for a TEE and Right and Left Cath. These results were a bit different: "1. Left ventricle was hyperdynamic with an EF of 70% with 3 to 4+ mitral regurgitation noted. LVEDP was elevated at 20 mmHg. There was no gradient across aortic valve on pullback." I'm assuming that between the TEE and the Caths, that is more detailed than the Echo, but in the more recent tests, they said there was no sign of ASD or VSD.
4487133 tn?1355332064 My 15 month old English Bulldog has been vomiting for about 6 weeks now (daily, sometimes twice daily). If it is after a meal, then she throws up the entire meal. If it is not near a meal, then she throws up a large amount of bile colored drool. She eats only her recommended amount of Innova-Weight Control dog food twice daily (given to her in small amounts at a time) - No table food at all. She has been taking half a tab (37.
Avatar m tn Does anyone know if valve regurgitation would cause a pulse in the stomach? I have noticed a strong pulse in my stomach after so many days of shortness of breath and trouble breathing. A doctor examined my stomach and said it was not an aortic aneurysm and was cleared for that. Well the only other thing they found in an echo was an some minor valve regurgitation of the mitral and tricuspid valve.
Avatar f tn Since the diagnosis he has been taking Motillium. Apart from the occasional nausea and vomiting my son has been suffering from reflux. He doesn't have the usual burning that is normally associated with acid reflux, he only experiences the very embarrassing and frustrating symptom of regertation into his mouth, this can happen over 50 times a day and in the most inappropriate moments.
Avatar f tn It is impossible for me to say with certainty whether your mitral regurgitation is causing your shortness of breath without seeing your echocardiogram myself (to see other measurements on tho e echo which would better determine whether the regurgitation is a problem or not). If you severity of regurgitation has increased from mild to moderate, then a repeat echo at some point is certainly indicated.
Avatar n tn I'm wondering if over-exertion can cause vomiting in parrots? My conure's wings have been growing out and I haven't gotten around to trimming them yet. I had her out of the cage today and something startled her so she flew around the room. After she landed I picked her up and tried to calm her down. She shook her head from side to side and what looked like small bits of vomit flew out of her beak.
Avatar n tn Mild to moderate tricuspid regurgitation may not be medically significant, but if the mitral valve regurgitation is significant that could cause palpitations. Thanks for your question, and if you have any followup questions you are welcome to respond. Take care.
Avatar n tn Everything from pizza and cheeseburgers to fruits, vegetables, and ice cream an even did a couple of nights of heavy drinking. No diarrhea, vomiting, regurgitation, or nausea. I still have spasms where the pain is located, but only when I cough. Is this even stomach related? Could it be like a bruised rib or diaphragm? Could what happened the second week be a separate issue or anxiety?
