Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting infants

vomiting

Avatar n tn Her gastro doctor had her tested for this due to frequent vomiting (she still grew at an impressive rate and was in good spirits most days). Is vomiting a common sympton of c diff in infants? She is on antibiotics right now and I am very hopeful that this will cure her of her frequent vomiting. Also, she has never had diarhea, as a matter of fact, she has been constipated since she was 3 months old and has been given a dose of Myrilax daily. Can c diff also be the cause of constipation?
Avatar f tn Signs of toxicity and symptoms of withdrawal have been reported in infants following high doses or chronic maternal use close to term. Diphenhydramine has been evaluated for the treatment of hyperemesis gravidarum. It is generally not considered the antihistamine of choice for treating allergic rhinitis or nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Breast-Feeding Considerations Infants may be more sensitive to the effects of antihistamines.
Avatar f tn are they having you screen your urine to see if you are passing any stones? What is their plan? Did you tell them about the vomiting? If not, I would suggest you do so as soon as possible. Vomiting for that long can induce severe dehydration, which is something you should not take lightly. It can also cause damage to your esophagus from the stomach acid.
Avatar n tn Nutramigen formula is for infants that cannot tolerate other formulas. To help you with the vomiting here is a few pointers. The feeding position is important and should be almost a sitting up position when feeding her. Never lay the baby on her back right after eating because the acid from the stomach goes into the esophagus and causes pain. Raise the head of her crib to a 45-degree angle too so she is not flat on her back. Feeding her 5-6 times day will help. Hoped this helped.
Avatar m tn wrong, Shigella are bacteria that can infect the digestive tract and cause a wide range of symptoms, from diarrhea, cramping, vomiting, and nausea, to more serious complications and illnesses. Infections, called shigellosis, sometimes go away on their own; in others, antibiotics can shorten the course of the illness. Shigellosis, which is most common during the summer months, usually affects kids 2 to 4 years old and rarely infects infants younger than 6 months old.

Avatar n tn Hi! I am not sure if GERD can be a result of a parent taking Suboxone. I'm sure it's possible. You could check to see what class of drug it is as it relates to pregnancy. However, I do know that GERD is pretty common in infants. I took my son, 9 at the time, to a pediatric gastroenterologist for chronic vomiting. (He's doing very well now!) There were so many strollers with tiny babies in the office!!! I asked the doc why so many babies.
Avatar n tn I felt so stuffed, and would feel a little something something in my stomach, and next thing you know I am vomiting in the bathroom. Happened several times a week. Now, I vomit randomly (almost always right after eating and especially drinking water). Usually, if I have a small portion of just one type of food, I don't vomit. But, that's not necessarily the case, sometimes if I eat something and my body just doesn't want it, it comes out.
Avatar n tn Unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia in term and late preterm infants. Premature infants are at greater risk for hyperbilirubinemia because brain toxicity occurs at lower levels of bilirubin than in term infants. As a result, premature infants are treated at lower levels of bilirubin but with the same treatments discussed here. Encourage feeding — Providing adequate breastmilk or formula is an important part of preventing and treating jaundice.

1194973 tn?1385503904 12 give her motrin, 4 give her tylenol 8 give motrin etc) if you think her fever is getting too high. Sometimes that can help get you through the night until you can get an appt with the doc the next day which is always cheaper than the ER. Unless she's having difficulty breathing, is screaming uncontrollably and can't be soothed, starts vomiting and/or having severe diarrhea or her temp shoots up over 102 *I* would personally keep her home and just watch her.
Avatar m tn Was your son also tested for the actual thyroid hormones, Free T3 and Free T4? If not, he should be. TSH levels are, typically, higher in infants; what was the range given on the lab report? Your son must have adequate thyroid hormones in order to grow and develop normally; treatment is just as effective and necessary in infants, as it is in adults.
Avatar f tn Hi my 4 months old baby was sick last month she had fever for almost 10 days. I used to check rectal. It was between 98.8 to 101.3. I was giving her Tylenol infants every 4 hours as needed & I was constantly calling her doctor's office. Their response was to watch fever & see if she eats properly. Then I took her to children's hospital emergency unit. They did a urine test via catheter. It came back positive for urine infection. They gave me an antibiotic to give her once a day.
647852 tn?1251247846 All I can find is if the baby was born to drug addicted mothers. I would like to know what other neonatologists think about using this drug on infants. I'm trying to understand this situation I'm in. Thank you!
Avatar n tn and 3) it flows between the cranium and spine to regulate changes in pressure within the brain. Hydrocephalus can occur at any age, but is most common in infants and adults age 60 and older. According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, hydrocephalus is believed to affect approximately one in every 500 children. The majority of these cases are often diagnosed before birth, at the time of delivery, or in early childhood.
Avatar n tn Generally this type of brain injury is seen in premature infants or infants who suffer birth injuries. It is difficult to comment beyond this. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn Can we just discuss the pros and cons for daycare for infants as early as 6 weeks? Im still uncertain of daycare for my newborn.
Avatar f tn I am pretty sure that I have read in several places that you can give infants up to 4 oz of water or juice a day, but not to give more than that unless it is during the summer months, and then a little more is fine if the baby seems to need it.
