Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting in older people

vomiting

Avatar f tn I have had a tear in my esophogus. It was from vomiting then the stomach acid wearing on my esophogus. I went to urgent care because it worried me. I ended up on an h2 blocker to prevent it from happening again. If your Dr has an on call number, call. Get a consultation on what the Dr wants you to do if you can. Its very hard to say what it could be.
Avatar n tn Thanks for responding to my question. My boyfriend stopped by my house on his way home from work and said he hadn't eaten his 2 breakfast cookies (milk bones) but that he did ran downstairs to great him and seemed a lot happier and was outside playing with our two little dogs. Hopefully it was just some tummy trouble. I'll know more when I get home from work. I made an appointment to take him to the vet tomorrow just in case. Keeping my fingers crossed...

Avatar f tn s 16 years old, he keeps having diarrhea too, and today including vomiting. I live in a Singapore, is it due to heat or? Please tell me what to do, can I give him charcoal pills?
488823 tn?1218370567 You must be in the Eltrombopag trial? I haven't seen many in it here at the forum, but I am following it with interest since I have a friend who will not be able to treat unless Eltrombopag is approved. I wish you luck and hope you can find a way to endure the side effects so you can continue treating.
Avatar f tn Well, I do know that cantalope will cause gas if eaten with a meal, which gas hurts the guts, so I suppose you could try eating those fruits only as a snack, see if that helps. If not, then might be a glucose thing, those items are high in pure sugar, and might be a diabetic sort of thing where the sugar processing part of the body isn't working right. Then some people develop allergies as they get older, stuff they could eat before becomes an allergy thing.
Avatar m tn The large Weiss ring in my RE developed when I was reading quietly in bed at a medical meeting. People can vomit or be hit in eye and not develop any floaters. So no way to generalize. You are not at higher risk of RD and that risk is probably about one in 6000-10000. Vomiting in a normal eye is very unlikely to cause RD but could cause PVD. Well done and good luck on stopping alcohol and getting treatment for OCD.
Avatar m tn As an older guy, I prefer women in their early fifties. What's my chances of getting an STD with protected sex. Also with oral sex.
Avatar f tn Glad your test came back normal. Great news. So now maybe you can relax a little and hopefully your pvc's will taper off. I agree with some that almost all people have pvc's. What I take exception to is when people say not to think about them etc. When I, and several of you get them, I feel EVERY one, they suck the life right outta you. Yeah, if I had them and didn't feel them, they wouldn't worry me either DUH!
Avatar f tn This is often in patients with vascular history but can occur spontaneously in people with certain conditions that affect the blood vessels, after neck trauma, or after chiropractic manipulation of the neck. The pain is often but not always associated with some sort of neurologic deficit as a dissection can often lead to a stroke. A dissection is diagnosed with a specific type of MRI test (MRA with fat saturation) or a CT angiogram.
Avatar n tn hi friend, please be really careful. Any focus of infection is dangerous in people who have underwent any type of replacement surgery. especially if it's near the operative site. Microbes can pass through the blood route which is very difficult to controll. So take a proper advice. Visit your orthopaedician regularly.
Avatar m tn I think it is Spinal stenosis which occurs mostly in people older than 50. Diseases such as arthritis and scoliosis can cause spinal stenosis. Symptoms might appear gradually or not at all. They include pain in the neck or back, numbness, weakness or pain in the arms or legs, and foot problems. Treatments include medications, physical therapy, braces and surgery.
Avatar m tn I am 60 years old female and I am taking chemotherapy that is constipating me, which I usually don't have that, not since I was much younger. Anyhow, I had to do SOMEthing. Since you are a vegetarian, you might like this idea, it works like a charm for me. I like canned spinach, always have, with a little salt. Now, I eat it right out of the can, I don't mind, and I salt as I go. A half can of spinach, and my digestion comes out like it's supposed to.
Avatar n tn Out of curiosity why have you allowed this vomiting to go on for 6-9 months. If this were my cat, and my cat was vomiting after each meal, you better believe I would have visited my vet a long time ago. Purina at best is not a good quality food. She probably has lost weight but you just don't see it. I would suggest making an appointment and getting her to your vet as soon as possible. Vomiting after a meal for such a long time is not good.
Avatar f tn Hello, My 1st post...I'm 44 and currently 5+3. Starting over again. My kids are 21 and 17. This will be my 3rd and my now hubby's first. A lot of people think I'm crazy. We are excited, but I'm a little scared right now. Have had a lot of encouraging words but still worry. Just trying to keep it positive and can't wait till my 1st appointment.
Avatar f tn m 25 and over the past 2 years ive been to the er with afib with rvr (rapid ventricular response) this comes as a result of me vomiting. I have no heart disease or any other heart condition, but for some reason vomiting throws my heart info afib, and my hr jumps to 160 bpm and i have to recieve cardizem. The doctor told me hes not concerned with the afib, but he wants to keep my hr down.
Avatar f tn Oh no, you weren't wrong at all. I find it odd that the family wouldn't take your side in this. I know when I had my first child, we did our very best to keep anyone ill away from the baby and lordy, stomach virus with vomiting is the worst! What if YOU got that? yeah, 39 weeks pregnant with a stomach bug? That would be a nightmare. Anyway, we didn't allow sick people around, we made WELL people wash their hands and we avoided crowded places.
Avatar m tn I recntly had chronic stomach pains, with vomiting, and pains in in groin legs and back. I was very concerned by this I also noticed my tongue had a yellow coating on it. I also had pain whilst passing urine was very painful. This lasted good few days so I visited the hospital and they ran some test said my blood was fine etc took some urine smaples nothing came up. They gave me pain killers and sent me on my way, the paineased but came back.
1098760 tn?1266447897 He Will Not stop growling out of no-where at guests, in a church, the movie theater if someone comes up the steps, at crying children or people who dont approach him with confidence. This started at roughly 6 months old. EVERYTHING Until now has been based on POsitive Training. Treats etc. Ive never delt with a dog that wouldnt Stop with a harsh slap for such dangerous behavior at the Worst. I even resorted to frying him with a hunting dog collar at one point, at the movies.
Avatar n tn Hopefully as she grows older, this will be less of a problem. Kids are sick a lot in those first few years of school when they are exposed to all sorts of viruses in a communal setting, but most do seem to grow out of some of the extreme reactions to viruses as they grow older. I hope your daughter is healthier in future years. Best of luck to you.
Avatar f tn People will do dumd things especially to children. I beeline in discipline 100% but that's taking it too far especially to a small child. My sis started early with her kids if they would hit or do something wrong a pop on the hand out legs was good enough. Once they get older tho me personally that's a whole nother story and level of discipline!
Avatar n tn She has been eating Stage 2 baby food without problems since she was about 6 months old and we have not introduced anything new into her diet recently. On Tues. 10/7/08, she began vomiting in the evening and vomited for several hours. She did not have a fever or any other symptoms. We gave her pedialyte which she held down eventually and we slowly moved her back to her formula the next day. She was fine the entire week and then on Thurs. 10/16/08, she began vomiting again.
Avatar m tn im 26 and i realize getting old *****..you lose contact with people, no summer vacations..
Avatar f tn Warning: RANT. Sorry this is so long. So, tomorrow (technically today as it is past midnight) I'm being induced. I'm 38 weeks. The past 48 hours, I've been having awful contractions, but they aren't consistent. Well, they've gotten so painful that I've started vomiting. I called L&D and told them what was going through, that I was supposed to be induced, and asked if there was anything I could do to stop the vomiting.
Avatar f tn FTM, severe nausea, sick all day. Projectile vomiting with small amount of blood. Is this normal?
Avatar n tn He is 18 months old and for the past 5 months has been gagging excessively in which leads to vomiting. After the 3rd time of this occurrence I immediately started going to the doctors. He has had Upper GI test, xrays and even his adenoids removed. His adenoids where blocking 80% of his nasal air way. The surgeon and my pediatrician where hoping this was the cause of these episodes. But the day after the surgery, the symptoms started right back up again.
