Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting green bile after drinking

vomiting

Avatar f tn Hello the green in the stools is most likely from bile or something you have eaten or drank-like green kool-aid or green jello etc. The burning is because your electrolytes are off in your body and with diarrhea you get what is called Metabolic Acidosis. The acid is what causes the burning. It sounds like you have gotten a virus of some sort and it should subside in 24-48 hours. Your stool should return to normal consistency and color after that time too.
Avatar n tn Before that happens vomiting of bile juice (green-yellow coloured vomit) is a symptom. It happened to me after a total colectomy operation over five years ago and I was kept in hospital (with a nasal gastric tube to suck out the stomach contents) until the symptoms had passed and until I could hold down food normally.
Avatar m tn I bring up clear gastric juices and finally a large amount (over a pint!) of green bileous liquid - after which I start to recover. I have no bowel movements until the next day, when I get diarrhoea. My stomach is painful for several days because of the heaving and it takes a week to fully recover. At first I thought it was food poisoning but last time it happened I ate only my own food -except for one danish pastry eaten 2 days earlier. Please help!
Avatar n tn 8 days after my discharge following my choly i started vomiting green bile with everything i tried to eat of drink, even water, as it did not settle after 24 hours my mum dragged me to the dr after ringing the surgery 1st thing monday morning - i was readmitted imediatly- after scans and standing and lying down x-rays it was decided that there was a kink in my intestine and i was rehydrated and kept NBM for 36 hours before water and food was reintroduced - after 2 days i was discharged...
Avatar m tn Green vomit could mean she is vomiting bile. Bile is a green substance that is excreted by the liver into the gall bladder then into our intestines to help with digestion. She could have had a gall bladder attack. Is the back pain located by her right shoulder or in-between her shoulder blades? That is a sign of a gall bladder or liver problem. Gall bladder attacks tend to wake people in the middle of the night. She could have passed a gall stone.
Avatar m tn you might advise her to get her gallbladder checked out. Vomiting bile (can be yellow colored or green) is sometimes not a cause for concern, as if her stomach was empty when she threw up....this would be the reason for bile to come up. Like I said, if all is fine now...no more issues, Id say she is ok....but if it starts happeneing on a normal occasion, might check it out to be safe.

Avatar n tn My son has regular stomach problems about ever 4-6 weeks. His "attacks" hit suddenly, he becomes nauseous then projectile vomits a few times then wretches for a few hours with a severe headache; he's then weak and nauseous for the next few days. Today was a usual case of one of his "attacks" except he is vomiting dark green bile, almost the color of Nyquil - he has never done this before, plus his last "attack" was only 7 days ago.
Avatar n tn What causes vomiting light green bile, stomach and back pain, having no fever? ER doctors don't seem to know. CT scans and x-rays are unremarkable.
Avatar n tn she went to her doctor (not er) and they gave her a shot to stop her from vomiting (worked for a while, maybe 3 hours) and they ran blood tests and saw her WBC is at 17, max it 10. when she got home from the doctor she started vomiting dark green bile. 3 times now within a hours. Please! if someone could help me please let me know.
Avatar n tn I vomited in the morning after a night of drinking. my vomit was first yellow, then turned yellow-reddish and at the end was a small amount of bright red blood. Is there something wrong with me or was this related to the drinking.
Avatar n tn My brother has gallstones and today he started vomiting yellowish liquids which is bile, could this be from the gall stones? Or should we be concerned about the liver at this point??
Avatar f tn With a gallbladder, usually bile is stored up until you eat something with a lot of fats and oils and then once the body senses high fat coming after the stomach it releases bile by squeezing out the bile..and helping break down the heavy fatty meal. Without a gallbladder, the bile just freely flows out whenever basically so normally people without a gallbladder should avoid heavy fats like cheese or the body won't be able to break it down and you'll end up with IBS-D as a result.
Avatar f tn Did she have her gallbladder out before this started? If she's vomiting bile, she's experiencing bile reflux. It could be due to a number of things including the presence of sludge or stone in the common bile duct that may have gotten lodged there during the GB surgery and are now causing problems. The diarrhea could also be due to the unregulated release of bile from the common bile duct which is unfortuantely seen in a number of people following GB surgery.
Avatar n tn Subsequent vomiting was primarily dry-heaves which turned to vomiting of yellow/green bile by around 5 am. Every time he vomited you could see his stomach really tighten up. At around 5 am he had a couple of episodes of diarrhea that was very runny. The diarrhea also continued the next day as well. After he started the diarrhea the vomiting seemed to subside which is typical of the previous episodes. The vomiting followed by diarrhea seems to be a pattern.
Avatar f tn I vomit for 3 to 4 days every month, every 15 mins vomiting bile yellowish/ green
Avatar n tn s way up to just beneath my sternum. Once it moves up to my stomach area is when I begin vomiting green bile. I had my gall bladder removed a few years ago and began having similar stomach aches at that time but no vomiting. I was also diagnosed with Crohn's disease last February however have never had such symptoms previously and know that I had Crohn's disease for many years before being diagnosed.
Avatar n tn 3. Currently she has a severe vomiting tendency. Please note that nothing comes out of her vomiting. After every 10-15 such dry vomitings sometimes she vomits green color liquid (I think that is bile) in a very little amount. This relaxes her for a while but after couple of hours the tendency restarts invoking nausea. However there is no diarrhoea. But earlier she used to get diarrhoea whenever she eats some oily stuff and it used to take a longer time to check. 4.
Avatar n tn Georgia, Hang in there. My symptoms appeared twelve years ago after drinking too much. I'd occasionally get sick after drinking too much, but after about eight years the symptoms would appear after just a drop of alcohol (e.g. in tiramisu, or from cider vinegar in food, or from an old peach). No symptoms would appear immediately, but would happen in the morning upon waking up. I'd have a distinct kind of neck ache/ headache/ general body ache. Then nausea would set in.
Avatar n tn Hello and hope you are doing well. Since its two weeks post surgery, it's unlikely that vomiting is related to anesthesia. The green colored vomit could be due to stasis of bile. It could be due to gallbladder disease or pancreatitis. Other possible causes of include bowel obstruction, inflammation of the stomach and small intestines from an unrelated source as well as an unrelated intestinal infection.
Avatar f tn You should first know I've had Gastro problems for the last 10-12 years of my life. I'm 43 year old female. Had my gall bladder removed 3 years ago after a severe attack. I felt "better" for a while but then started having gastro problems again. The problems have intensified and now there are times I can't function properly. I've always had problems with constipation then I have bouts of diarrhea.
