t the bowel movements be the same every time. I mean, they would never be normal, right? The obstruction would not move? I am so sorry if this is an inappropriate or dumb question but I am so nervous about the colonoscopy. Otherwise I had ct scan done and it was ok besides diverticulosis....it shows no problems with the colon otherwise and no gas or fluid obstructions.. Thanks for all of your help. can't really say, other than she may be constipated as brown vomit can indicate feces coming up that can't pass due to an obstruction...in any case if the she continues to vomit she really needs to see a Vet asap.
We need more info. Were you prepping for a procedure to be done? If so, you weren't given the correct prep. If they suspect a bowel obstruction, maybe the stool cannot get past the blockage, but then you'd be vomiting and in extreme pain. Why are to trying to cleanse your system, and what is wrong?
I feel as if I have another bowel obstruction and have been fairly sick lately. My gastro will only order a KUB Xray. This Xray has never shown my obstructions in the past.
For the past week, I haven't passed any stool. I've gotten sick every time I eat as well, but not to the point of vomiting. Yesterday my skin was very flush and I didn't feel well at all. The gastro ordered another KUB stat, which the radiologist said read as normal.
After the op I had a fever and vomiting and they did a CT scan 2 days after surgery. It showed signs of small bowel obstruction, dilated bowel loops with others compressed. No-one mentioned this to me and after being on liquids for a day or so and having IV antibiotics I starting having hospital foof and was then allowed home. I was told I could eat normally.
It is trickier if the bowel obstruction is due to blockages in multiple areas of the bowel or if the bowel is functionally obstructed due to wide spread coating of cancer on the bowel. That is called carcinomatosis b. In that setting, the person will benefit from the placement of a gastrostomy tube to drain the stomach so that the NG tube can be removed.
So you see how important a CT scan is in helping sort this out. Even at the end of life vomiting continuous is just horrible and avoidable.
In January 2009 I developed severe abdominal cramping and bloating/distention. The cramping soon led to violent vomiting which sent me to the hospital ER. I was told I have probably had bowel obstruction. I was admitted to the hospital for 5 days while numerous X-ray's were taken of my abdomen. Before the doctors could find the blockage it had "corrected itself" according to the doctors. I was then sent home.

Drinking more fluids helps, but the answer is to have a hiatus nor lower the dose of opiates.
It almost feels like I had too many sweets mixed with a bubbling sensation. Then the poop pains hit and I have a foul smelling bowel movement. The various possibilities which present with such pain in the lower left abdomen are Crohn’s disease, bowel obstruction, ovarian cysts and pelvic inflammatory disease, irritable bowel syndrome , kidney obstruction or pyelonephritis, psoas abscess and volvolus (twisting of the sigmoid part of the large bowel on itself).
Investigations like ultrasound abdomen, CT abdomen and colonoscopy are required to confirm a diagnosis. your sister should get these investigations done.

A total bowel blockage can be an emergency. At this point, I take it you are guessing that she has an obstruction or blockage, correct? Hydration is very important. Are they not wanting any treatment for this situation?
You can vomit a yellow watery substance for many reasons. My mom had a bowel obstruction about 3 years ago and was vomiting a yellow watery substance but I don't remember if she had any burning in her stomach or not. Radiation anywhere near the abdomen is notorious for causing adhesions, and your additional surgeries just make the likelihood of bowel obstruction that much higher. Because more surgery can cause more adhesions to form, most surgeons are reluctant to go in and release them unless you have a life-threatening obstruction. Many times they'll admit you to the hospital, keep you hydrated with IV fluids and maybe TPN nutrition and wait it out.
Within 3 months I was rushed to the ER and was found to have a complete bowel obstruction. I returned home 1 week ago and within days I became constipated,severe abdominal pain nausea & vomiting. I used ducolax suppositories and had only sips of ginger ale for 5days. On the 6th day my bowels finally opened but have been diarrhea.I am still suffering in pain, nauseated and still vomiting(but not as severe as I was prior to ER visit,at that time I was vomiting green bile non stop).
