Vomiting dog bloody diarrhea

Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting dog bloody diarrhea

Avatar f tn I hope this dog is ok. Please, people. If your dog has been vomiting "for days", do NOT WAIT for an answer from a website. TAKE YOUR DOG TO AN EMERGENCY VET. It is your responsibility to an animal who cannot care for themselves, and must depend on its owner for everything. For goodness sake. I hope everything is all right.
Avatar n tn If you have any over the counter vomiting and diarrhea medication for humans you can give him 1/4 of the human dose three times per day or use the frequency recommended on the bottle or box. Don't use any over the counter medication that contains Aspirin, Tylenol, Advil, etc.
Avatar n tn You are right to be worried - very worried. The amount of bloody diarrhea you describe indicates a possible perforated intestine from chicken bone remnants. That's the biggest danger of giving dogs anything but very large, hard bones from cattle. (Had to add that for anyone else reading here.) Have you actually called your vet? Most clinics have an outgoing message instructing you what to do in an emergency. This IS an emergency.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have a 7 week old female Rottweiler. My mom tells me she's been vomiting. I have no idea how often though, but the vomit is clear mucus. I've observed that she plays and eats a lil bit less, like the other day, while 3 of the other pups where in the garden playing, she's laying around in the kitchen and wouldn't come when I called her. She's also been chewing on leaves, grass, twigs which might have something to do with the vomiting.

Avatar m tn Hello, i hope that when you took the dog in to see a vet they checked his temp. first. Bloody diarrhea can be caused by other things. First it could be worms, or he ate something that is poisoning. I f a doc did the x rays he should have done barium series it will tell were and if the dog ate something bc it will show in the insistent. Other thing is "PARVO" if your dog dint get a booster this year i would be concern and ask your doctor.
Avatar n tn My bloody dog ate two this morning and the girlfriends mum is looking after her today, hope she doesn't spot them coming out.
Avatar f tn The rest were liquid, one was red in color but then clear after that. Then in the middle of the night had bloody diarrhea. She is back at the vet. Any questions I should ask them? Any diagnostics I should make them run? Any ideas? bacteria, protozoa, HGE, cancer, bad food. Thank You!

203342 tn?1328740807 As soon as I told him that she seemed lifeless, he was concerned and wanted to see how the weekend goes before we gave her anymore Lysodren. He also wanted a call if any diarrhea was present. I love this dog as if she were a child, I do have three children as well. I want to do everything within my power to give her the best quality of life that she can have.
1462810 tn?1327364049 Since this morning she won't eat, drinks water then vomits it, has thin brown (not bloody) diarrhea, and is lethargic and breathing with quiet discomfort sounds. She comes to me like she wants to go out but then comes back in without doing anything. I need to go to sleep and tried putting her on her bed in a box (she made quite a mess on the carpet while I was out for 3-1/2 hours) but she wants to be on my bed.
Avatar f tn In a young dog like this when I hear "bloody diarrhea", my first thought is parvovirus. I know that you said he's up to date on his vaccinations but there is always an outside chance that a dog can still contract the disease even if they have been vaccinated. Did your vet test him for parvo? Bloody bowel movements along with vomiting can also signify an intussusception.
730826 tn?1317946934 Didn't he ever think to take an X-ray? It's true when a puppy has parvo they have bloody diarrhea and can vomit blood, but normally when a puppy has parvo and it is far enough along for him to be vomiting and passing blood, he will refuse to eat, and your puppy ate, so again, even though it could have been a possibility, it doesn't really sound like parvo to me, either. Just in case it was parvo, I would wait a good long time before getting another puppy.
Avatar n tn Parvo does usually present with a fever, lethargy, vomiting, and very watery diarrhea usually with blood . But even though your dog doesn't seem too bad otherwise, there is no harm in being certain. If it IS just a very badly upset belly, well, you will have erred on the safe side.
Avatar n tn She did eventually get up to walk the two feet over to her bed in the living room and then stayed there the remainder of the night. There was no vomiting, diarrhea, or labored breathing. My husband felt her over and she never showed any sign that anything hurt when touched. We decided to take her to the vet in the morning if she didn't seem any better. My son knocked on the door at 5:15 a.m. and said "You need to come out here.
Avatar n tn My canine nutritionist told me Cal Natural was a good food for my dog who has not been diagnosed with IBD, but has occasional diarrhea/vomiting (about every few months) and elevated eosinophils (but no parasites).
960887 tn?1283485836 Izzy is a 4 yr old Chihuahua mix that came into our emergency clinic last weekend with bloody diarrhea and vomiting. Her owner had put 4 drops of Rescue Remedy, a homeopathic flower extract, into some water and Izzie drank all of it. The next day, she was lethargic, not eating, and started to have severe bloody diarrhea. She was so weak when she got to our clinic she could not stand up. Poor Izzie’s owner was racked with guilt.
320329 tn?1297772552 I'm not sure, but my dog died yesterday. We've BOTH had diarrhea and intestinal problems since we went to a different vet back in August. I had us both tested for Giardia, parasites, etc. I was also tested for C. diff, but the tests all came back negative. However, I had C. diff a few years ago and my first test then came back negative too. I don't know what killed my baby, but I'm still having symptoms. She seemed mostly fine, but had loose stools, until the day before she died.
Avatar f tn we were outside til pretty late on a Saturday night,Sunday she had blackish kind of wet and sticky diarrhea which I thought was due to a different dog food, later it only became worse and one explosive along with some vomiting. she still drank water but I didn't offer her food because of her upset tummy. On Monday I called her veterinarian and was told if she is keeping hydrated she should be ok but scheduled an appointment for the next morning.
Avatar n tn spleen and mass (benign) removed after it ruptured, then a blood clot in the intestines 5 days later caused severe and bloody diarrhea and, ultimately, my dog stopped breathing. The emergency vet that is in the same building as the internal medicine and surgical vets that performed the surgery couldn't diagnose the intestinal blood clot even though it was THE major risk factor after surgery, according to internal medicine and the surgeon.
Avatar f tn Sorry, meant to add, obviously the vomiting and diarrhea are probably secondary symptoms, which means she is picking this infection up from something in the immediate environment. That means something in your home, your garden/backyard area, other dogs or other people that she comes into contact with, or her food or treats fed regularly. If you have changed food, try looking at other things she eats (treats) as a first priority.
Avatar f tn She throws up until she staggers and falls-I am continuously trying to hydrate her and giving her baby food-At times, she is able to keep it down, other times the vomiting is horrible. She continues to try for us, and we are fighting so hard for her-LIke others, I tuck her in at night (she sleeps on the loveseat with her "bankie" covering her). I am sleeping in the den with her so I can give her support throughout the night. Neither of us are getting much sleep.
Avatar m tn Since your vet did a very thorough workup, my guess is this is a frustrated dog dreaming out loud. I had a dog very like yours who started howling in her sleep around the same age. Very scary stuff there! As it turned out, she needed proper exercise outside her own territory. Once I started a daily walking program, she calmed right down and we all slept in silence again. If you already walk your dog daily, you may need to add an extra one. Can't hurt - might help!
514916 tn?1224521687 Pedialyte is IDEAL, Gatoraide has a lot of sugar, I think) is EXTREMELY important when your dog is losing diarrhea. (Dog should go to vet for I.V. if unable to drink fluids in combination with diarrhea because fluids going out, with no fluids going in can mess up the blood-chemistry. I won't even begin to to get started on the what the blood indicates. The morning, ASAP, I took him back to the vet. He called it Hemmoratic-Rhinnitis?
Avatar n tn Went to bathroom at 11 am to have bm - which was normal, then EXPLOSIVE diarrhea, explosive vomiting - grabbed trash can just in time, profuse sweating - even hair (and its kinda long) was dripping. Fell to bathroom floor to get face on cool tiles. Finally crawled to hallway to turn on a/c and crawled back to bathroon and passed out - again Explosive diarrhea all over floor, walls, etc. Massive chest pains & difficulty breathing.
Avatar f tn I am devastated. He didn't have diarrhea prior to the vet and he didn't have a temperature and wasn't vomiting prior to the water incident. Why did he die so quickly? And why didn't he repsong to treatment? I am not coping. He was a toy french poodle.
Avatar f tn temperature and heartbeat normal. 10am following morning bloody diarrhea presented and immediatley to vet who did blood test - all fine. put into hospital on drip and gave antibiotics same time. the bloody diarrhea is still going and we are now Wed (now sick 4 days - bloody diarrhea going for 72hours). poo sample has been done and all came back negative. ultrasound done and all ok.

Avatar n tn also could have got into some poison. Think about what you fed him, or what hes been around. got ahold of any medications, plants, toxic people foods..
Avatar f tn well, a few dogs do make it through. Mine did. If he HAS had his hots, then this could be a few different things. Bloody diarrhea, while never to be ignored (as there can sometimes be a serious cause) -can happen from eating something like chocolate, for instance, or even from the diarrhea itself. I asked my vet about this and he said it can happen quite commonly as with diarrhea, as frequent straining can cause some blood in the stools. But vomiting blood...
