Avatar f tn I have one cat that vomits everyday. When this first happened she was on dry food and the vomiting was so bad that she was losing a large amount of weight (starving to death). Took her in to the vet couldn't find anything wrong with her so they gave her some meds to take before she ate. I took the food and soaked in water to soften it up seemed to help for awhile.
Avatar f tn It's possible she has hyperthyroidism. My cat lost weight and was really boney, hair loss, and color was getting lighter (siamese), and took her to the vet.. was told she had hyperthyroidism. The ear treatment was not helping. It doesn't actually cure it. So we paid 1 k plus other vet visit fees for radioactive iodine treatment. Ms baby is 14 years old, super healthy, hair has grown back, is a healthy 10 pounds, and full color like before.
Avatar f tn My cat was coughing and breathing heavy. I took her to the Vet and after they took X-Ray I was told she has to be under medication for two weeks. I started her on Clavamox 15 ML but after couple of days I noticed she vomits after each intake. I was told by the Vet to give her Metochlopramide 5 MG first and wait 20 minutes before giving her Clavamox. She is not eating food and I am giving her Garbor baby food (chicken and rice) along with Clavamox. I noticed she still vomits after each intake.
Avatar f tn My sister's cat just got his yearly check-up...He is 7 years old. He has lost 2 oz. since last year. The regular blood test showed that he is borderline hyperthyroidism and was told to come back in 3 months to check. Is there anything she can do now to help the thyroid? If it does get worse, is there medication to treat this in cats? Thank you!
11317982 tn?1417190802 Our cat was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism and is being treated with another exam due in 30 days. She's been on the treatment (Methimazole) for 8 days doing very well. Eating, no more vomiting, seemingly gaining a little weight. However, on the 9th day, she managed to eat a little food with her meds, but did not get her evening dose as she has refused to eat. She's acting strange and is losing her strength rapidly now on the 10th day.

Avatar f tn My adult cat who has always been healthy is starting to look thin and boney at the hips. He eats 1 can wet food and unlimited dry food but always seems to be hungry, yet looks like he is losing some weight. Can you help me figure out what is going on? He still acts like a young cat and plays and jumps.
Avatar f tn How can I stop my cat from vomiting? She is taking Clavamox drops and was vomiting after each use. I spoke to her Vet and was told that I should give her Metochlopramide 5 MG first and wait for 20 minutes and then give her Clavamox. She is not eating and Vet suggested to give her baby food with the Clavomox. I am doing what I was told but my cat is still vomiting.
Avatar f tn Sounds to me like she may need at least an xray to see if there is a blockage in her intestines----This is very serious and urgent that you let the Vet do what he needs to do . Vomiting everything she eats was what caused my cat to have exploratory surgery to see if there was a blockage---thank God there wasn't but she was a very sick little girl..
592969 tn?1248325405 Oh my gosh!! My pickiest cat, Butters, refuses any salmon flavored food. He won't even eat fresh salmon. Best thoughts for your cat. I've had my other cat, Bob, have an episode of vomiting but it cleared right up w/in a few hours and we surmised he ate a bug or something like that.
436973 tn?1217947089 How often is normal for kitties to have upset tummies? My cat seems to vomit a few of times a month. Often twice in a day then she'll be fine for a couple of weeks and then again twice in a day. She doesn't ever act like she doesn't feel well. Just throws up and is done with it. It is not hairbally at all. Shoould I be worried?

Avatar n tn I recently got a new cat and she sheds excessively even loses tufts of hair. Her coat has a weird texture-almost slightly greasy. My daughter who was a vet tech for years says it may be a bad thyroid.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism in September. At that time my levels were way off. I recently had a blood test taken after being on the max doses of Toprol and PTU for the past six weeks. My T4 is 1.08 (normal) but my PSH level is still .01 (very low). My doctor wants to keep me on the medication until my test in January. Isn't this just masking the symptoms instead of fixing the PSH? I understand that my T4 has improved, but will my medication also help the TSH level?
Avatar f tn My ~14 year old black female indoor cat has been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism for the past 4 or so years. Everyday once a day I give her her medicine by mouth, this has been very costly. The only reason I point that out is because sadly i am not rich, i do not have a lot of money to be spending on my companions sadly. Well ,she has gotten so skinny. Skinnier than she's ever been, she feels like she weighs about 5 pounds. She has always been a thin cat, she has never been fixed.
