Avatar m tn Ketotic hypoglycemia more commonly refers to a common but mysterious "disease" of recurrent hypoglycemic symptoms with ketosis in young children. The cause and the homogeneity of the condition remain uncertain,[1] but a characteristic presentation, precipitating factors, diagnostic test results, treatment, and natural history can be described. It remains one of the more common causes of hypoglycemia in the age range.
Avatar f tn If you're vomiting up blood on any occasion, run not walk to your doctor or nearest health clinic. This may be an emergency! (or at least a sign of cancer) Vomiting blood on any occasion is a serious concern (especially with the variables you express). There should be free services available for your area to check out. Here's some things to look up: http://www.mayoclinic.
Avatar n tn im desperate for help im 20 years old and im terrified i wont be able to have children coz i had an eating disorder im so scared ill be infertile please help how do i know if ill be able to concieve ?
Avatar n tn My child was wetting the bed, extremely thirsty all the time and was vomiting; his vomiting, we think, was contributed to a stomach virus he had at the time. We took him to the ER due to dehydration -they did a blood chemistry and his blood sugar was 399-they immediately admitted him to ICU and he was put on IV insulin. He's been a diabetic now for 3 years-he's now 9. He's has handled it amazingly well!
Avatar n tn In fact it just may be the opposite. Young children have very strong immune systems and they may be able to fight off the virus more successfully than adults.
5739095 tn?1374690666 Hey ladies i hav a question an it may be a silly one but im a first time mom so im just curious if you been told the same thing... They have told me NOT to carry young children now that im pregnant... Anyone else???
Avatar f tn I have a 20 month old daughter that has been vomiting (sometimes up to 4 times a day) from birth and because she was always gaining weight, nothing was ever done until i took her to see a paediatrician. He ran blood tests, stool samples, and a Barium(?) swallow test, but they all came back fine. They're leaning towards a lactose intolerence so my daughter has been on a very stricked no milk (or anything containing milk) diet but still seems to be vomiting.
Avatar f tn How much blood? If you are vomiting red blood you could have a bleeding ulcer and that is an emergency. I have had a tiny amount before and it was due to irritation in my throat. You should at least make an appointment with your physician. If you vomit red blood, become dizzy or faint or have black sticky stools you should go to the emergency room.
Avatar f tn You need to get that checked out...not a good sign to be vomiting blood...alcoholics are prone to intestinal bleeds...go have it checked out....and I guess you already know drinking aggravates this condition..
Avatar m tn You may want to consider seeing an Internist whose specialty is all of the internal organs. They tend to be the best at grouping symptoms together as opposed to looking at only one of two organs. If you have had fainting spells since the age of 4, what has been done to find out the reason? Teens often times faint for no apparent reason, but young children don't faint without a cause, not for the most part. Have you ever seen a pediatric cardiologist or a pediatric neurologist?
Avatar f tn As all the blood tests have not revealed any diagnosis,I feel it can be a case of cyclic vomiting syndrome(CVS). CVS is an uncommon, unexplained disorder of children and some adults characterized by recurrent, prolonged attacks of sever nausea, vomiting and prostration with no apparent cause. Vomiting occurs at frequent intervals (5-10 times an hour at the peak) for hours to 10 days (1-4 most commonly). CVS has been difficult to diagnose.
Avatar f tn I wish I could help more but it seems an MRI is needed to see the condition of your liver and your brain. The ultra sound will diagnose the condition of your liver and is something that can be performed right away. Sometimes it can take a while for an MRI but is worth mentioning to your doctor. This Testing should have been done a long time ago when the migraines began. Do not allow your health to be put on hold. You have serious issues that need prompt attention. Take good care of yourself.
Avatar f tn Since then she is still vomiting almost everyday, her stools have become almost black and she complains of pain on the lower right side (scale 1 to 5 she says its about a 4) She says it is very painful to urinate or pass gas. The surgeon ordered a CT scan fearing that she had a blocked bowel, but instead it came back showing that she had clumps of cysts on her ovaries and an enlarged liver. We are contacting her ob/gyn tomorrow to get her in for an appointment ASAP.
Avatar f tn But I really admire young mums! It also means by the time they have all grown up you will still be young!
Avatar f tn For your son's weight and height he is normal for his age which is good. At this age children do become 'picky' eaters. Children learn by example. If they see you eat healthy, they will eventually eat healthier. For example if the rest of the family eats salads, vegetables, and fruit and he see it every day, eventually he may try some. There is hope in the future. Mealtimes can be a battlefield when children do not have an interest to eating healthy or eat very little.
Avatar m tn Our daughter 5 years old, has had almost monthly vomiting for the past year. Lasts 4 to 12 hours, throws up 4 to 10 times... In Jan she ended up in ER, threw up about 15 times in 3 hours. Started throwing up blood. Was put on meds, lab results were all fine. Doctors think she is sensitive to the tummy bug but 2 out of the 8 times she has had it did other family members/class mates have tummy bug Pale, Upset tummy, sometimes headache or leg pain "growing pains" Doctor said.
Avatar f tn You might might to have an adult or even your self have a talk with your cousin. Call me old fashion, but that is too young to be having sex. Let her know if she choose to have sex it needs to be done safely. Pregnacy is not the only risk she faces. THere are also many STDS that comes with unprotected sex.
597354 tn?1227197932 He has been diagnosed already with ADHD and is on meds for it (i hate that). My question is - do children have thyroid problems that young or is it usually later in life? It may sound like a stupid question to some people but I really don't know and I haven't had time to research it. I didn't really even consider that he could have a problem at such a young age. If this is possible, I want him tested immediately.
Avatar m tn There are, of course, real infection risks in day care, or in any other setting where young children are placed together in signficant numbers. You can be sure your child will catch colds and norovirus (the main cause of 1-2 day bouts of vomiting and diarrhea) in day care, probably a couple times a year if not more.
Avatar f tn maybe puree his food if its hard for him to eat ,the fever should go down soon.,if he is still vomiting in 24 hours I think you should take him back to see the doctor ,Good luck hope hes better soon .
Avatar f tn Hello, I recently discovered friable, breaking asbestos pipe insulation in my basement. We are going to have air quality testing done, and have considered dust wipe testing as well. I am extremely concerned for my family's health, including very young children, and would really appreciate any help you could provide! We stored the a/c units in the basement uncovered for at least one year, and covered for 2 additional years, using them in the summertime.
Avatar n tn I know children are curious but is this normal for children at his age to talk about this? We only have 2 bdrms so that is why they share a room. We are both in shock and don't know what to do or how to handle it. Any advice would be great!
Avatar f tn Unless downs runs in your family i doubt your baby is at risk for it..30 is still very young...
