Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting blood trauma

vomiting

Avatar m tn Six days ago I suffered a severe case of diarrhea with blood and spent two days in the hospital. It came on out of nowhere and was not accompanied by vomiting. They performed a CT which showed diverticular disease and inflammation of the colon. They treated with Cipro and Flagyl and I am still taking the Flagyl. I am still experiencing a burning sensation in my colon and dark (purple) sticky stools but no diarrhea. I have a follow-up with my internist on Tuesday.
Avatar n tn If this happened a little while after your period, it could be leftover menstrual blood. The leftover menstrual blood will mix in with the cervical fluids and it may seem a little scary. But it is completely normal. If you have had a Cervical Implantation, like an Intra-Uterine Device or an implantable form of contraceptives, that will also trigger small bleeding during the beginning of the implantation. Afterwards, it will stop your period completely for a little while until it is taken out.
Avatar f tn If it both eyes at the same time it might be more likely to be related to trauma, severe coughing or vomiting, blood disorders that make the blood too thim, bleeding in the orbits, or blood way too think from warfarin or thinning medications.
Avatar m tn What has happened prior to the vomiting, does he get upset, is he doing well at school, no bullying or problems .?
Avatar m tn 1. If this vomiting led to floaters, could it have caused enough trauma to cause retinal tears or detachment? Can vomiting cause RD or tears? Does it classify as 'trauma' in the RD or 'tears' sense? 2. I do not have any abnormality in my retina. No thinning. No lattice etc. No family history. Then why did the vomiting cause the vitreous to break? No one I know has got floaters from vomiting, why me? 3.
Avatar n tn Sometimes occurs for no apparent reason. Usually totally painless. Often, worsened by taking aspirin or other blood thinners. You should go ahead and see an ophthalmologist since you have some associated headaches. Ophthalmologists are medical doctors first (before eye specialty training) so they can often find clues from your medical history and findings to help in situations like this.
Avatar f tn So I'll be 38 wks tomorrow. I luckily somehow made it up to this point in my pregnancy without morning sickness or anything. Today I woke up with a terrible stomach ache. I started to vomit around 3 pm and it was full of blood. I can taste blood in my mouth. The stomach ache hasn't subsided but hasn't gotten worse either. Is this ob related or more medical? Should I go to the hospital? Has anyone else experienced this?
Avatar f tn ve heard of girls having this happen and being fine, but it is always better to make sure with this. Coughing up blood can be a sign of a blood clot in the lung or something serious like that. Tell them everything. Stay calm and good luck!
Avatar f tn If you're vomiting up blood on any occasion, run not walk to your doctor or nearest health clinic. This may be an emergency! (or at least a sign of cancer) Vomiting blood on any occasion is a serious concern (especially with the variables you express). There should be free services available for your area to check out. Avatar n tn Sudden pain, swelling or lump of testicle, redness of the scrotum, lower abdominal pain and nausea or vomiting may be observed. Was there a a trauma or injury to this location? What other signs or symptoms present? To confirm this diagnosis, you may need to have a scrotal ultrasound done. Avatar n tn She was taken to the hospital with a severe headache and vomiting, was treated for whiplash and released. Since the accident my niece vomits many times a day. Her Doctor has run a gamut of tests and can find no cause for the vomiting and believes it might be irritable bowel syndrome and has medicated her for that. There has been no improvement. My niece has had to leave college and move back home because the vomiting disrupts normal activity. She has no other symptoms.

1637650 tn?1300353310 After a week that I came off them I could not eat, had diarrhea and vomiting for 9 days. The worst of all was the nausea it was heavy that I had to move in with a friend so she can help me with my 6 years old daughter. I even was in hospital to give me the drip for fluid. This really came at the worst time because on the 5 Feb 11 my partner was returning home after 2 years not seeing him but wasn't even able to go to the airport.
Avatar m tn Sorry you fell - you didn't say if you hit your head. If not, I wouldn't worry about a one minute headache. When we fall or experience trauma of any kind, our body goes into "flight or fight" mode and all our blood vessels expand and we either feel warm all over or get a slight headache. It is a natural reaction to trauma. Unless you hit your head and get nausea and vomiting, I wouldn't worry too much. I hope you didn't hurt yourself too badly.
Avatar f tn Headache is a common result of head trauma and this may persist for months or years following even mild head trauma. This is often associated with muscle contraction, of the muscles of the neck and scalp or vascular changes compounded by emotional reactions producing further anxiety which can lead to a self-perpetuating cycle. A recent imaging study will help in ruling out any anatomical issues. Continue your medications as prescribed and if any additional symptom arise, inform your doctor.
Avatar m tn He also said that my drusen was elevated more than he would like it to be, so he has scheduled an appointment for me to see an eyecare specialist later this month. He asked if I was having any bad headaches or vomiting, and I told him no. He said it was likely nothing to worry about. However, I completely forgot to tell him that I was in a car accident just over 2 months ago which totaled both cars.
2065348 tn?1331075207 It is possible that the inside of the eye may have experienced some trauma during hard vomiting. Sudden increases in blood pressure can injure the retina in the back of the eye. Are you seeing a dark haze or "veil" in your vision, blurred/distorted area, a "cob-web" in your vision. Sometimes there will be a light flash or zig-zag/herringbone effect to the vision. It would be a good idea to see an optometrist or ophthalmologist to have an exam.
Avatar n tn the symptoms are teeth hurt, vomiting, mucsles hurt in stomach it has been going and going for a week and a half and i know my wisdom teeth should have been taken out about 5 yrs ago. and when i brush my teeth it is a reddish brown color.
Avatar n tn Are there other symptoms present like vomiting or sensitivity to light or sound? It is good that you had your eyes checked and they were cleared. If there was no trauma or injury to the head or neck in the past, this could be due to primary headaches such as tension, cluster or migraine headache. It is important that you identify the triggers of the headache. Rest, ice pack, pain medications and avoidance of the triggers may help.
