Avatar n tn MY 8 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER BEEN VOMITING FOR 5 HOURS,HAS FEVER AND PULSE APPROX 140-150bpm,should i seek medical advice?
Avatar n tn Hi I am from the UK but currently live in the US so know how both systems work. I would recommend seeing the specialist privately in the UK. It's usually not too expensive and you can be seen within days. For something like your eyes, this is a good investment believe me. In the US, you can see whoever you want......but believe me also when I tell you the bills are scary. Even with insurance! Don't hate on the NHS just yet.
1218873 tn?1300091216 I just wondered if anyone can tell me if it is standard to have blood test when diagnosings neurological problems. I have been examined by a Neurologist, I have had MRI scans, brain stem potentails (auditory only) and a Lumbar puncture. The only blood I have had taken is a small amount when the LP was done. Should I have had more detailed blood tests? also should I have had other evoked potentails done?
Avatar f tn So I'll be 38 wks tomorrow. I luckily somehow made it up to this point in my pregnancy without morning sickness or anything. Today I woke up with a terrible stomach ache. I started to vomit around 3 pm and it was full of blood. I can taste blood in my mouth. The stomach ache hasn't subsided but hasn't gotten worse either. Is this ob related or more medical? Should I go to the hospital? Has anyone else experienced this?
Avatar f tn ve heard of girls having this happen and being fine, but it is always better to make sure with this. Coughing up blood can be a sign of a blood clot in the lung or something serious like that. Tell them everything. Stay calm and good luck!
Avatar f tn If you're vomiting up blood on any occasion, run not walk to your doctor or nearest health clinic. This may be an emergency! (or at least a sign of cancer) Vomiting blood on any occasion is a serious concern (especially with the variables you express). There should be free services available for your area to check out. Here's some things to look up: http://www.mayoclinic.
1105389 tn?1258003525 my girlfriend has just passed the first trimester and has been vomiting some blood on 5 ocations what does this mean?
Avatar n tn I would stop shoving your fingers down your throat. Hopefully the blood is just from that or as you said a popped blood vessel.
Avatar f tn m in the UK with the NHS - the NHS is great in many ways (heavily subsidised or free prescriptions, paying for surgery and hospital admissions etc) but it is also plagued with long waiting times, difficulty getting expensive prescriptions etc.
Avatar m tn People, Has anyone used the GUM clinic? I was up last Wednesday, and I am anxiously waiting results and was curious to know how long I would expect to wait if HIV or something that serious was found in my blood. It's all I can think about, ive already had to take time off work etc. I have heard two weeks quoted, and even 3 weeks. I am now past the 5th day and was thinking could I consider getting till the end of this week with no news as me being in the all clear?
Avatar f tn i have put it with it for that long that i am immune to earache and its was a everyday thing for me but just lately i have been waking in the night from excrutiating shooting pains and my hearing is realy poor, i am now 20 and the NHS keep sending me home with ear drops and appointments in 4 weeks from that one but when my letter came through its not till 6 months and i cant cope with it any more!
Avatar f tn Hi Doctor, I've read a couple of posts on your site recently which deal with Hep B concerns. I've found a couple which are the same as my concerns and thus I my mind was put at ease. I am a married, heterosexual male, living in London, UK and stupidly fingered a stripper with a small but fresh and open cut on my finger which I was concerned may have bled when I fingered this girl. My concerns were of HIV and Hep B and any risk I may have put my wife at.
Avatar f tn Bleeding gums are normal. My doctor and dentist have informed me on this. You have more blood volume.being pregnant. It's the same reason your nasal passages can swell and even get nose bleeds. It's just a part of being pregnant. You could get a soft bristle tooth brush that will be more gentle.
Avatar m tn I understand that PCR - RNA HIV test or NAAT is still relatively new and blood banks use it for testing of blood donors/organs. Surly that would imply that NAAT test 'much better' compared to antibody or p24 alone? which are 'supposedly' - gold standard in 2013 for routine testing, even so that BASHH guidelines recommend it as a 'first line' for diagnostic purposes. Of course I understand NAAT is expensive and very time consuming and NHS simply can't afford it.
Avatar n tn Dear sirs / madams, my mother is 67 years old has high blood pressure and is diebetic. She has a detached retina as a result of a burst blood vessel and is now blind in that eye. Her eye sight in her other eye is poor and i'm worried for her sight. Is there any operation that can restore the sight in the eye with the retina damage. If so which hospitals, where, and how much would it cost.
