Common Questions and Answers about Vomiting and gerd in adults

vomiting

Avatar f tn I'm 10+2 weeks today and since yesterday, I've been sporadically vomiting up blood. I contacted my doctor, and the nurse that called me back said that its pretty normal. My concern is that while I've been pretty nauseous, I haven't been getting sick so I don't know if I trust that its just my esophagus just being torn up from the nausea. Has anyone experienced this before?
Avatar f tn I was bulimic from the time I was 15 years old until the time I was 30 years old and in graduate school. I would say that most days of the week I would vomit and many days several times per day. I don't remember having too many periods of time where I wasn't involved in actively vomiting. I had to leave college at one point and had many years of counseling. Even at the time I was vomiting all of the time I was worried about the damage I was probably doing to my esophagus.
Avatar m tn I also have a hiatal hernia and do not have the vomiting like u do and y I wonder about ur Gall Bladder...it really should be looked at too....same with H.Pylori. It does sound like ur dr is trying to figure this out....I also know these meds can be slow to show improvement. I would keep a journal of how u r feeling and what u ate, drank ect....mayb u will see a pattern. There is a new procedure for hiatal hernias...
Avatar m tn He put me on mezicline (motion sickness medication) and a pill that helps prevent nausea and vomiting. I went on them for two weeks, and I would only occasionaly feel nautious, but wouldn't vomit. I went off the pills 6 days ago because I had to go in to the hospital medicine free for a week in order to get a hearing test and another test that may determine if I have labynthritis. I have thrown up every night since going off the pills about 2 to 5 hours sometime after dinner.
Avatar n tn Low and behold, no signs of damage in stomach and esophagus. No hiatal hernia. LES in working condition. Ever since I saw with my own eyes that I was ok, I would get heartburn once or twice a week, and it was easily controlled by taking Omeprazole(in 2 hours no more heartburn!).. However, its staring to trouble me everyday again. And this time I have made some interesting observations.. 1. My throat burns....
Avatar f tn Getting your son in to see a pediatric gastroenterologist is the best thing you can do for him . I don't feel he should be on Reglan (nasty medication) with bad side affects and should ONLY be prescribed to ADULTS. This and Prilosec are both used to treat GERD (acid reflux) which he doesn't appear to have, and why he would be on both I don't know! Probiotics help with digestion, and in moving the food along the intestine and colon, which doesn't appear to be happening.
Avatar n tn While you're waiting to go to the doc, consider thinking back on what changes have gone on. Were you on medications like antibiotics? If so, consider probiotics. Have you noted that any foods contribute to the bloating? If you've not started a food diary, do so. Take a look at specific foods and food groups. Then do some eliminatons even if you don't feel they're 'likely' candidates.
Avatar f tn Fatty food and everything associated with GERD was eliminated and fish and veg and soup became main staple diet. Vomitting continued 2 or 3 times a day and sometimes happened after drinking fluid. In Beginning of January a piece of meat was vomitted (meat hadn't been eaten since first week of Dec). By now soup was main staple of diet, literallly only 5 or 6 spoonfuls.Soup was the best option because it didn't make her choke when vomiting.
Avatar f tn comes before her nausea therefore leading me to believe that it is the cause of her vomiting. Other symtoms she has are weakness in her arms and legs (she lies on the floor like a dead fish) and she says that her legs are hurting. I dont know if she is confusing pain with weakness or if it is really pain. Her pediatrician has not been as helpfull as I would like insisting that she simply has GERD. I am worried there may be an underlying heart problem. Please help.
Avatar f tn (I have CHS and spent many days and nights over a few years vomiting, having to go to the emergency room About a dozen times due to puking up blood, Im just at the lower end of a healthy weight so it isn’t caused by obesity or anything and I think my GERD was caused by excessive daily vomiting not the usual cause you’d see in most patients ) I also have wpw that can’t be fixed and is symptomatic.
Avatar m tn I suspect I have GERD... I have this symptoms like Chest Pain/Discomfort on my throat. burping. feeling bloated. Sleep Disturbances/ Heartburn. What should I do? I keep feel vomiting/Throwing out after meals i eat..
Avatar f tn In 2019 I began experiencing episodes of nausea that were very intense. After the first episode, I didn't experience another for nearly a year. Now I'm having them almost weekly. It typically follows the same pattern. First, a feeling in my belly. It almost feels like I had too many sweets mixed with a bubbling sensation. Then the poop pains hit and I have a foul smelling bowel movement. Nothing to note of its appearance but the odor is akin to rotten meat and fermeting fruit.
Avatar n tn My husband has been experiencing nausea and vomiting (more so nausea) now for over 4 years. He was told he had some stomach erosion and was placed on protonix, with no results. He was told he had over 30 allergies to food and I was wondering should my he be seing an Allergy MD. Diagnosed with - GERD, IBS - but the purple pill or zelnorm treated the problem.
Avatar f tn I get the same thing - told by doc that is was GERD and IBS - which is so general, I don't believe. I belief it is LOW acid in the stomach - so low it can't digest foods. The stomach is naturally acidic which is how it breaks down food. What I have done since is take a half shot of true apple cider vinegar 5 mins. before eating each normal meal. breakfast, lunch dinner - and eat a little less at each serving - let your stomach adjust to digesting food properly.
Avatar m tn More often, symptoms in adults are vague and may be easily confused with other problems.
2129211 tn?1335549120 The vagus nerve is weird in how it can be involved with heart palps and GERD, so do get this checked as the bad taste in ur mouth can indicate an infection, I am assuming GERD as it is common to those with Chiari....but do get checked.
Avatar f tn A little over a month ago I was hit suddenly with something resembling a stomach bug (fever, chills, nausea, vomiting, etc.) The next day the all the symptoms were gone except for the nausea and vomiting. The vomiting wasn't constant like it had been the first day. After a week, I went to the doctor where they did a rapid flu test which came back negative. Another week with the symptoms and I went back where they took blood and stool samples, all which came back with no abnormalities.
Avatar m tn ), Zofran, Nexium, Prilosec, and sometimes Belladonna and Levsin. I need this to stop, I am a senior in college and am now considering taking a semester off due to the amount of stresss also affecting this. Please help!
Avatar f tn Last night, she was playing in an indoor playground which was quite warm. Within about an hour she was miserable and an hour later began vomiting. We keep her well hydrated, and when she is playing soccer we keep ice packs handy for the back of her neck to try to help regulate her temperature, but it takes her a long time to rebound once she's overheated.
Avatar f tn i have had an upper and lower GI scope done and a colonospy. All were clear. Along with the vomiting i have been anemic. In july I had a blood transfusion and a hystercomy. I had a large tumor that was causeing the declining blood count. For about the first 2 weeks after surgery i stopped vomiting. But it has started again. I only throw up nasty tasting thick fluid. I had my gall bladder out 5 years ago. No pain any where. Thank you for your input.
