voltaren gel neck pain

Lately I have been putting Voltaren gel on my forehead. I'm doing this to soothe pain from inflammation caused by increased circulation from running a lot. Is this ok? I know it takes away pain, reduces inflammation, and increases blood circulation. Also I got the blood flowing through some decadent veins and arteries on my skull. It is really annoying but gets better everyday. What do you think?

Thank you for your comments...I have just had one more pain free day...I am aware of the nasty side effects of this drug and I intend to take as many precautions as possible like having blood testing every 3 months to monitor liver and/or kidney function....Running Mom, have you seen a chiipractor for your neck pain ?...I have lived 66 years virtually pain free and at 67 all hell broke loose so I intend to fight back with this drug and hope and pray for the best...

ve never tried it, but I have tried Voltaren gel, a prescription, which I thought did make a difference. It is very expensive. I also get a compounding gel from a special pharmacy (not a chain). They combine a bunch of things like lidocaine, ketamine and I don't know what else. That actually works pretty well. Any chance you could try either of those?

I have a shoulder problem and used to be on strong pain killers, but my doctor told me to change to heat rubs!

my rheumie prescribed and it has helped for muscle pain, joints (knee shoulder neck elbow) and it does seem to help. The gel doesnt cause as much problems for me which is great. It also is a godsend as I cant take nsaids aspirin, etc as I am on bloodthinners.

You can also put some Voltaren gel on your neck/shoulder area where the muscle pain is. Hope you get better soon!

I was just given Voltaren Gel(diclofenac sodium topical get 1%) for my neck pain(spinal cord nerve damage) and muscle spasms in my shoulders. I've been using it for the past few days and it has worked wonders for the pain in my shoulders. It comes in pill form too and it is geared for arthritis and pain. I was surprised how quickly it reduced my shoulder pain.

You might ask your dr for Voltaren Gel. It's a TOPICAL non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. I used it for the nerve pain in the tops of my feet with good results.

I have been having a lot of pain in my neck for which I went to physical therapy for. It helped some but the pain comes back priodically. My C6 & C7 are showing signs of being degeneratve. I have been having discomfort in all of my joints but the most pain is in my right elbow. At times I cannot even extend it to is full length without pain shooting up and down my arm. I have also been told I have onset of carpel tunnel.

I had the same problem after having cervical discs fused back in the 90's. I can tell you there really isn't any magic medicine that will make the pain go away. While it's great that you're running and staying active, running is a high-impact activity that puts a lot of stress on your spine and it may actually be making your pain worse. Try switching to race walking for a while and see if it makes a difference.

So I've had hip pain for about 7 months. I went to her after months of voltaren, metsal, Celebrex etc and she says it's bursitis and that I'll need steroid injections. If it is muscle how come it only got worse the next day when I stretched? And the voltaren didn't help. Also when I'm working or doing physical activity it kinda becomes numb but the pain comes later on. In the cold it's a focused sharp pain rather than all over. Is this signs of bursitis?

I am not looking forward to another surgery and hope that will not be the case here. Voltaren gel takes the pain down a notch but it is still constant pain. Usually I have to take muscle relaxers and lye down which kills any plans I make for the rest of the day. This is not a way to live. The pain medication does not work and the muscle relaxers only put me to sleep. Desperate to try anything at present and hope the last resort will be surgery or a pain pump.

I have bone spurs and nerve damage in my wrist. My Voltaren gel works wonders on it. However your pain could be most anything and should be professionally evaluated. I'd suggest that you ask your doctor. I wouldn't let it go too long. The earlier you start treatment, the better.

Thanks much. Do you recall what "essential enzyme" you took with the diclofenac? I'll also check into the voltaren topical, although my pain in so widespread I don't know if that would be feasible.

Lidoderm Patches (they are generic now) and Voltaren Gel. The Lidoderm works by letting small amounts of the same numbing agent they give you when they work on your teeth. You can wear 12 hours on/12 hours off. The 12 hour off the Voltaren Gel would work also. Hope that helps!

I tried Lidoderm patches. They didn't help for my pain. The nice thing about these patches is that you can cut them to any size. I was also give voltaren gel that worked a lot better. It's basically the same medicine as the lidoderm patch, but in gel form. I used it for my muscle spasms on my shoulders. Muscle relaxers work best for my shoulders, but I'm so sensitive to them and we are trying to find one that I can tolerate. Good luck.

Hi There! There are a couple of non-opiates which are pretty effective. Lidoderm Patches which were originally designed for people who had shingles. It is comprised of lidocaine, the same medication dentists use to numb the mouth. It is out in generic so relatively inexpensive. The second thing is Voltaren Gel...I'm not sure it is out in generic but I've got my mother using it for her RA and other issues and she loves it.

hmmm....that's what I'm worried about with it. Definately not what I want to find out on my trip. :) I will try it, but jumpy is not what I want to add to my anxiety issues! I also ready that Cymbalta helps with Dopamine and Savella doesn't. And my understanding is that Dopamine helps with pain. Interesting. Sara - I will definately keep you posted on my experience with it. Have you tried Voltaren Gel? I love it!!

I do have arthritis in the upper back, worse in my lower back and a slipped disc which is causing leg pain. I currently take neurotin for the lower back pain/ leg pain. I have a really hard time working every day and can't afford to miss work! what would you recommend?
