voltaren gel for nerve pain

Lately I have been putting Voltaren gel on my forehead. I'm doing this to soothe pain from inflammation caused by increased circulation from running a lot. Is this ok? I know it takes away pain, reduces inflammation, and increases blood circulation. Also I got the blood flowing through some decadent veins and arteries on my skull. It is really annoying but gets better everyday. What do you think?

I have bone spurs and nerve damage in my wrist. My Voltaren gel works wonders on it. However your pain could be most anything and should be professionally evaluated. I'd suggest that you ask your doctor. I wouldn't let it go too long. The earlier you start treatment, the better.

I have a shoulder problem and used to be on strong pain killers, but my doctor told me to change to heat rubs!

ve found that a combination of Aleve (naproxen) and voltaren gel helps take the edge off of the pain. Voltaren gel is an anti-inflammatory gel that you would rub on your hands. It contains diclofenac, a strong prescription anti-inflammatory medication. You could ask your doctor about it to see if it will help in addition to the steroid shots. I haven't had the steroid shots in my hand before so I can't comment on that but someone else may be able to.

Nerve pain should be treated with something like neurotin or Lyrica that specifically works on nerve pain. Narcotics will not do much to help that sort of pain. Hope you get to feeling better soon!

Hi folks! Have any of you used Diclofenac or Voltarin Gel for relief from general pain on thighs, etc.(and other large areas ... LOL? What was your experience? Did it actually relieve any of your pain? I've used the tablet form, but it made me sick to my stomach. Is this likely to do the same? Thanks for your help.

Hi Ellen my name is Jo I am sorry to say there is no pain killer that will help nerve pain and I know I have had mine for nearly 9 years in my knee after a knee replacement I finally found out I had pinched - damaged nerves and nothing will touch it BUT THERE IS HELP PLEASE on on the web site now Dr A Lee Dellon from the Dellon Institute I have just had my nerves done the same way here in Aussie Land and gone is the pain No this is not a joke please just do it I have still ALOT of scar issues

You might ask your dr for Voltaren Gel. It's a TOPICAL non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. I used it for the nerve pain in the tops of my feet with good results.

I was just given Voltaren Gel(diclofenac sodium topical get 1%) for my neck pain(spinal cord nerve damage) and muscle spasms in my shoulders. I've been using it for the past few days and it has worked wonders for the pain in my shoulders. It comes in pill form too and it is geared for arthritis and pain. I was surprised how quickly it reduced my shoulder pain.

Has anyone tried biofreeze? This is an over the counter gel geared for sore muscles and aches. Someone at church has a similar injury as me and swears by this gel. This gel also has really good reviews on amazon.com too. I hope this helps with the muscle spasms I have since I can not take a muscle relaxer. It will get it through the mail on Wednsday next week. Anyone here use this?

Some offer limited relief but there is no cure. I also suffer with chronic back pain for which I use a topical pain cream. My arms were itching so badly one day that I smeared the pain cream all over my arms. The itching stopped; of course it came back but I just added more cream. The BRP is Maddening...but the pain cream helps.

A nurse friend gave me a sample of Voltaren gel and it worked great. I asked my surgeon about it and they gave me some samples and a prescription. (It' expensive, around $200 a tube. Now I use a compounded cream prescribed by my PM nurse practitioner. It has about seven different things in it. I know 2 of the ingredients are ketamine and lidocaine but I can't remember the rest. (This also runs around $200.) I find this works a bit better than the Voltaren.

ve been living in excruciating pain for the last 2 years following 2 spinal fusions and cannot find any way to relieve the pain. The pain is centralized at the location of my fusion. S1/L5/L4. I am extremely active. I run roughly 5 miles every morning, and have no trouble lifting heavy objects. My pain is only during certain motions. Sitting to standing, laying flat in bed, and bending to tie my shoes (or similar). I'm sick of medicines and want the problem actually fixed.

Hello. I know about debilitating pain. I have degenerative disc disease. It wasn't that big of a deal for 40 years...I'd just go to the chiropractor when I couldn't take the pain (should NOT wait that long) and be good to go for months, if I didn't do something stupid. In your posting, there's no history of treatment other than drugs. Does anybody know what's causing your pain? Have you seen a Neurologist for a NCT-Nerve Conduction Test?

I also use Voltaren gel which help bring down the pain level at least one notch and that has been beneficial for me. I hope my feedback helps from my experiences but education into learning about my condition and researching to find a specialist was key for me and I advise the research for all that are interested in learning about their condition.

So I've had hip pain for about 7 months. I went to her after months of voltaren, metsal, Celebrex etc and she says it's bursitis and that I'll need steroid injections. If it is muscle how come it only got worse the next day when I stretched? And the voltaren didn't help. Also when I'm working or doing physical activity it kinda becomes numb but the pain comes later on. In the cold it's a focused sharp pain rather than all over. Is this signs of bursitis?

A friend has been suffering from CRPS for more than 4 years. The pain he suffers is excrutiating. A doctor has him taking 9 (80 mg) oxycontin per day along with roxicodone and valium. This has been unsuccessful in controling the pain. He ran out of medication and is suffering from severe pain and withdrawl symptoms. He also has high blood pressure and heart problems from the CRPS. I have tried to convience him he needs to go to the hospital.

I am feeling like I have a new life. For nearly 5 years every minute of every day was consumed with RSD and nerve pain. It also seemed to cause my other pain (from fibromyalgia, old herniated disk and arthritis) to also escalate. The doctor still isn't sure why I've suddenly got this reduction in pain and says we may never know. She still says we can't be sure if it's permanent. I do still have pain over the area where I had my implant but it's manageable.

I like all the support this place can give. I've been taking various pain killers for nearly three years. Started with back pain then finally gave into a lumbar fusion. I'm three months post op and so ready to get rid of pills.. I haven't taken any for 3 days but I'm losing the psychological battle. I know if I take one my back will feel so much better while at work and I'll finally be comfortable in bed.. A year ago, before my surgery, I quit after taking 4-5 norco a day..
