Avatar n tn Many arthritis sufferers are in a panic over the shortage of Voltaren gel (diclofenac sodium gel) and I get why they are worried. Voltaren gel is a prescription topical anti-inflammatory gel used for all kinds of arthritis pain: rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and osteoarthritis of the knees, hands and hips. People who have stomach issues from taking anti-inflammatories by mouth can bypass that problem with Voltaren gel.
Avatar f tn Lately I have been putting Voltaren gel on my forehead. I'm doing this to soothe pain from inflammation caused by increased circulation from running a lot. Is this ok? I know it takes away pain, reduces inflammation, and increases blood circulation. Also I got the blood flowing through some decadent veins and arteries on my skull. It is really annoying but gets better everyday. What do you think?
Avatar m tn The FDA just announced that dicoflenac gel (brand name Voltaren Gel) often prescribed for arthritis pain is linked to severe liver damage and it can happen within the first month of use According to the FDA, this topical gel has been reported to cause liver necrosis (death of liver cells), jaundice, and liver failure some cases of which have required liver transplant and some that have been fatal! Despite these horrible side effects, dicoflenac gel remains on the market.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your comments...I have just had one more pain free day...I am aware of the nasty side effects of this drug and I intend to take as many precautions as possible like having blood testing every 3 months to monitor liver and/or kidney function....Running Mom, have you seen a chiipractor for your neck pain ?...I have lived 66 years virtually pain free and at 67 all hell broke loose so I intend to fight back with this drug and hope and pray for the best...

655875 tn?1295695107 Has anyone tried biofreeze? This is an over the counter gel geared for sore muscles and aches. Someone at church has a similar injury as me and swears by this gel. This gel also has really good reviews on amazon.com too. I hope this helps with the muscle spasms I have since I can not take a muscle relaxer. It will get it through the mail on Wednsday next week. Anyone here use this?
Avatar f tn I have a shoulder problem and used to be on strong pain killers, but my doctor told me to change to heat rubs!
880900 tn?1467270141 my rheumie prescribed and it has helped for muscle pain, joints (knee shoulder neck elbow) and it does seem to help. The gel doesnt cause as much problems for me which is great. It also is a godsend as I cant take nsaids aspirin, etc as I am on bloodthinners.
230262 tn?1316645934 I was just given Voltaren Gel(diclofenac sodium topical get 1%) for my neck pain(spinal cord nerve damage) and muscle spasms in my shoulders. I've been using it for the past few days and it has worked wonders for the pain in my shoulders. It comes in pill form too and it is geared for arthritis and pain. I was surprised how quickly it reduced my shoulder pain.
Avatar n tn You can also put some Voltaren gel on your neck/shoulder area where the muscle pain is. Hope you get better soon!
Avatar f tn Some offer limited relief but there is no cure. I also suffer with chronic back pain for which I use a topical pain cream. My arms were itching so badly one day that I smeared the pain cream all over my arms. The itching stopped; of course it came back but I just added more cream. The BRP is Maddening...but the pain cream helps.
Avatar f tn You might ask your dr for Voltaren Gel. It's a TOPICAL non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. I used it for the nerve pain in the tops of my feet with good results.
Avatar f tn I have been having a lot of pain in my neck for which I went to physical therapy for. It helped some but the pain comes back priodically. My C6 & C7 are showing signs of being degeneratve. I have been having discomfort in all of my joints but the most pain is in my right elbow. At times I cannot even extend it to is full length without pain shooting up and down my arm. I have also been told I have onset of carpel tunnel.
1998155 tn?1327298656 ve been living in excruciating pain for the last 2 years following 2 spinal fusions and cannot find any way to relieve the pain. The pain is centralized at the location of my fusion. S1/L5/L4. I am extremely active. I run roughly 5 miles every morning, and have no trouble lifting heavy objects. My pain is only during certain motions. Sitting to standing, laying flat in bed, and bending to tie my shoes (or similar). I'm sick of medicines and want the problem actually fixed.
Avatar f tn hmmm....that's what I'm worried about with it. Definately not what I want to find out on my trip. :) I will try it, but jumpy is not what I want to add to my anxiety issues! I also ready that Cymbalta helps with Dopamine and Savella doesn't. And my understanding is that Dopamine helps with pain. Interesting. Sara - I will definately keep you posted on my experience with it. Have you tried Voltaren Gel? I love it!!
Avatar f tn So I've had hip pain for about 7 months. I went to her after months of voltaren, metsal, Celebrex etc and she says it's bursitis and that I'll need steroid injections. If it is muscle how come it only got worse the next day when I stretched? And the voltaren didn't help. Also when I'm working or doing physical activity it kinda becomes numb but the pain comes later on. In the cold it's a focused sharp pain rather than all over. Is this signs of bursitis?
Avatar m tn I take those for pain from the treatments I had for breast cancer.I have been putting off having the injections in my neck but I will eventually try it.I had thought seriously about having the surgery and being done with it until I found out that they cut the front of your neck. That just gives me chillbumps lol.I know how you feel and I hope that you can find some relief.
Avatar n tn //www.drugs.com/voltaren-gel.html. Diclofenac is voltaren and the gel contains the Nsaid. This information states clearly that aspirin should not be used at the same time. Normally, blood thinners are also not used with Nsaids. So, speak with your doctor, of course, but would advise not to use these together based on the provided information.
Avatar f tn You'll be fine.
3112530 tn?1434032033 I also use Voltaren gel which help bring down the pain level at least one notch and that has been beneficial for me. I hope my feedback helps from my experiences but education into learning about my condition and researching to find a specialist was key for me and I advise the research for all that are interested in learning about their condition.
Avatar f tn I like all the support this place can give. I've been taking various pain killers for nearly three years. Started with back pain then finally gave into a lumbar fusion. I'm three months post op and so ready to get rid of pills.. I haven't taken any for 3 days but I'm losing the psychological battle. I know if I take one my back will feel so much better while at work and I'll finally be comfortable in bed.. A year ago, before my surgery, I quit after taking 4-5 norco a day..
Avatar f tn I have a question for you all. Obviously I went to see the pain dr. on Tuesday. I've been having some very bad right shoulder pain, like front shoulder pain. Now I have radiculpathy (I don't know if that's spelled correctly) and normally have shoulder pain in my back, but Im having it in the front of my shoulder towards my chest, instead of my back. The vicodin is not controlling this pain on my shoulder.
Avatar m tn I have bone spurs and nerve damage in my wrist. My Voltaren gel works wonders on it. However your pain could be most anything and should be professionally evaluated. I'd suggest that you ask your doctor. I wouldn't let it go too long. The earlier you start treatment, the better.
Avatar f tn Hi There! There are a couple of non-opiates which are pretty effective. Lidoderm Patches which were originally designed for people who had shingles. It is comprised of lidocaine, the same medication dentists use to numb the mouth. It is out in generic so relatively inexpensive. The second thing is Voltaren Gel...I'm not sure it is out in generic but I've got my mother using it for her RA and other issues and she loves it.
