Common Questions and Answers about Vivelle dot bioidentical

vivelle-dot

Avatar f tn I'm almost 60 years old and have been experiencing severe hot flashes for years. A couple years ago I was put on 0.05mg Vivelle-dot patches. I'm still having the flashes. My forehead, especially, sweats a lot wetting my bangs completely! Would going on a higher dose of Vivelle stop the hot flashes? I want to keep on bioidentical-type remedies and wondered if something else included/instead of would do the trick. I'd greatly appreciate help!
Avatar f tn The vivelle, vivelle dot and Climara are all bioidentical hormones like Kate was talking about. They are supposed to be very similar to our own hormones, but they are still not our own :( Take it from me though, they are great.
718868 tn?1230730029 only they took it all..I have a lot of good to say about estrogen replacement//Im on the vivelle dot which is a patch that you apply 2 times per week. its increased my happiness, Im not hot flashing and not a basket case of nerves...ask your doc about it..
Avatar n tn Hi! I agree with Mary regarding the possiblity of adding a little progesterone to your regimen. I'm also on the vivelle dot patch (.075 strength) and have just recently 50 mg of progesterone (which I take orally, but many prefer to use as a cream or gel transdermally). I'd ask your doctor about adding some progesterone to your regimen. Just my thought :-) Good luck!
Avatar n tn To help me avoid radical menopause sypmtoms, my doctor immediately started me on a .5 mg. Vivelle-dot estrogen patch after surgery, and I felt fine. Two weeks later, he added a 100 mg. daily dose of prometrium to my HRT therapy to avoid recurrence of endometriosis growth. My problem is that I am having unpleasant side effects from the prometrium, including exhaustion, minor headache, and lightheadedness. I don't like how it makes me feel.
Avatar f tn I had a hysterectomy in October 2009, I was put on the vivelle-dot patch. I'm on the lowest dose (0.05mg). I change the patch twice a week. I had my yearly mamogram (which has always been normal). I picked up the report today and it says: Findings: Dense and hetergenous breast parenchyma is again observed with minor asymmetry.
1168718 tn?1464983535 Hi, I'm on a HRT (Vivelle-Dot) but I'm also a limbolander, but I might be of some help. I was put on Vivelle-Dot after loosing all my hormones due to a hysterectomy. Both Vivelle-Dot and Climara seem to contain estradiol (a form of estrogen bioidentical to your body's own). In the summer, I have been on this med for a year. I was put on this med right after my last form of hormone was removed (which was one ovary by this point).
Avatar n tn or the Vivelle patch? Estratest? Bioidentical Progesterone? And, what about testosterone, either gel or cream, which we women can use "off-label" but some formulas can be put on the cliteral/genital area and work wonders regarding the issue you mentioned.
Avatar n tn s no way I will go off hormones (Vivelle patch, which is a bioidentical hormone) and testosterone. I am feaking out a little now because I just got a letter from our new insurance company saying they won't pay for Vivelle... they will only cover a generic form of Climara (also a bioidentical patch, but made from.... um... yams, I think, where as Vivelle is from soy... or is it the other way around?). I may just pay the extra to stay on Vivelle, I love it so much.
Avatar f tn I have found that the estrogen Estradiol is THE estrogen to use and I cannot tell you how much this product has helped me. As Sheri mentioned, the Vivelle Dot is great... it is a bioidentical estrogen and it is all estradiol. If you don't supplement with this chances are great that weight gain around your 'middle' will happen or continue since the body is trying to make estrogen for you when levels are low or flucuating.
Avatar f tn Started having sever hot-flashes so my doctor put me on the Vivelle Dot. It took care of the hot-flashes but caused me to gain 10 pounds in a 6 week period. My doc said the weight gain was from menopause. Well, I took the patch off 2 weeks ago and threw it away, and I have now lost 6 of those pounds and feel much better. I think it was causing depressiont too. I have been on bio-identical hormones for a few years - progesterone cream and DHA cream - and have done fine.
Avatar f tn Could this be caused by the patch losing effectiveness before the week is up? Would switching to Vivelle Dot, which has a twice a week schedule, help prevent the bleeding?
Avatar f tn I had a TAH two weeks ago and started on vivelle dot. My gyn says I dont need progesterone cream, but I am reading otherwise....Does anyone know if I can get it over the counter or does it require a RX?? Just wondering, because if I need it, I want it!
Avatar f tn Hi. I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience.... Long story short, I had a radical hysterectomy (actually, everything out except the cervix) 10 months ago. After being on synthetic estrogen (Enjuvia) for many months and not feeling well at all, I finally found myself a better doctor who listened to my symptoms and put me on the Vivelle Dot patch (bioidentical estradiol), .075 I've been on that for about 3 weeks now, maybe 4.
1053407 tn?1352030371 Did any one have the protocal asprin 81 mg daily, crinone 8% twice a day, vivelle dot 2 patches every other day and prenatal vitamin. if so did it work for you.
Avatar f tn What hormone patch were you on right after your surgery? Was it Vivelle or Climara? Both are Bioidentical hormones (Estradiol, or E2). I am not familiar with Femtrace... you can google to see if it is a Bioidentical or not... and see if it is Estradiol. Personally, for me that is the ONLY way to go from now on.
7649183 tn?1393014236 Hi, I had a hysterectomy years ago and have been taking the estradiol pill for years. I started recently using the patch since I thought it would be better for my liver and a more natural way to get the estrogen. I'm doing this to protect again osteoporosis. I take Vivelle-Dot lowest dose--.025. I feel fine, but my breasts are sore. They never were when taking the estradiol pill--.05/day.
Avatar n tn there is a wonderful fairly new product that many of us use and like its called the vivelle dot its an estrogen patch thats applied to the lower abdomen 2 or 3 times per week easy to use . I dont think you really need a baseline of what her hormones where prior to surgery there is a normal range that is standard for all women ...bioidentical is 4 sure the way to go..
Avatar n tn t have, and was placed on a higher dose of estrogen. I use the vivelle dot patch, oral estrogen and vaginal estrogen. This seems to have helped the urinary problems amongst other things. Are you on hormone replacement? There is a great book I am reading called "Screaming to be heard" by Elizabeth Vliet MD and it really goes into detail on how hormones affect every organ system. Are you on Hormone replacement? I hope this helps, and I hope you get some answers.
Avatar f tn in 84 and was on vivelle patch for most of those years. Just estrogen and no progesterone. I was fine until a few years ago and it just got worse. I became so estrogen dominant and became a total mess. I went to a very good hormone imbalance seminar a few days ago and it was great. I think if you went off, you'll regret it in time. There are so many symptoms with low or no hormone production.
901431 tn?1242066034 thanks for your imput, I was on estrace but caused a rash so he had me get on Vivelle dot patched, what is timed bd ? and which meds did you not use ?
631270 tn?1224862606 I have used it successfully for almost 8 years. I also use an Estrogen patch called Vivelle and it is Bioidentical (I get that at a regular pharmacy). I would not be without it. Just recently I have started to ween myself off of my beloved Progesterone which I have used for years.
405824 tn?1201817954 I have almost 600 of them, but most are on surgical adhesions and bioidentical hormones. I think it is criminal that more women do not know about all the options that are there for them. But, then again, I have researched this stuff since 2001. I would encourage you to pick up Northrup's book "The Wisdom of Menopause." It literally saved my life. And, it helped me understand the work that hormones do for us. We really are our hormones. And the interplay they have with one another..
Avatar f tn carol I use the Vivelle ( estrogen only ) patch so far really happy with it, It seems that I have noticed many women need estrogen only,,,,at first then after x amount of years need testosterone also, who knows maybe I need it now, but I am asymptomatic so I choose not to treat it. I personally dont advise anyone to use anything but bio-identical hormones. Many doctors go by a womans description of how she feels, if your having doubts do by all means request a hormone test, simple blood test.
Avatar f tn Do fat cells secrete estrogen? Do I even need estrogen replacement? I used a bioidentical progesterone cream in the past. I was on Yaz birth control before the surgery. Without that I was practically psychotic.I am more miserable now than before surgery. I cry A LOT. My family is sick of me and I am sick of me. My doctor doesn't explain things. Will excercise/supplements etc be enough?Where can I turn for info?
Avatar n tn Or, you may want to think about something completely different like the Vivelle Dot patch. This is something your Dr will have to prescribe just like your Estrace pills.
