Avatar f tn Hi, Jen. I am a Certified Diabetes educator from Oregon. When blood sugars are elevated, too much sugar gets into the nerves and irritates them. In time, nerve damage occurs and neuropathies develop. It is important to achieve good control for a period of time to help this problem. Of course, when you have elevated blood sugars, the symptoms will be worse. I have had a patient with these pains all the way up to her buttocks.
Avatar f tn Lol Yah try and find something as in vitamins or in food for potassium , cause I had that pain for 5 days before I actually spoke up to my doctors cause I thought it was my sciatic nerve but turns out it was low potassium
798555 tn?1292787551 Many from the thyroid board take Magnesium with some success for muscle pain. Hashimoto does effect muscle and nerve health, even on thyroid meds. What about B1 as nerves control muscles? Never seen that anywhere. Its in all multi vit's but any one ever test for it and found to be low? Or anybody took more than what's in a multi and felt better pain wise?? Would like to see more on this.
Avatar m tn Please suggest an OTC ( over the counter ) supplemental medicine containing nutrients such as Lutein, L-lysine, vitamins and enzymes that can be useful for the patients of Optic Nerve Atrophy and is Available in India. Your guidance will be highly appreciated. Please help in this regard.
Avatar m tn The only medication that helps with nerve pain is nerve meds like Xanax Valium, Gabitril, ect I have permanent nerve damage and took Gabitril for a while then when my symptoms lessened started taking the Valium as needed. The Valium also helps with leg spasms. Complex B vitamins help to heal the nerves. I was on a medication called Mentanx which is just a complex b vitamin mix and it was working. Unfortunately I have herniated disc and had to stop due to the pain.
Avatar f tn My doctor told me to take Fish oil and B50 vitamins, I also take gabapintien ( hope spelled right) for my nerves It does help. Far as your books, what was you limit on lifting mine was 50 lbs at the most.
Avatar n tn Very painful. After 2-3 days the pain died off a bit was still present for about 3 weeks. This pain was only when the shoulder was moved backward or when I applied pressure to a certain spot in the shoulder. This was accompanied by a tingling in the left thumb. 2) After this pain dissapeared the tingling remained only lightly for a week or so. I then got a tingle in my left big toe. Not as bad.
Avatar n tn sometimes it feels as if my ribs are jumping over one another causing terrible pain,i don't know if that is the problem or muscel cramping
Avatar f tn Well I went to see an oesteopath and he said that he thinks that I do have carpal tunnel...but the numbness and tingling was also happening in my feet (I forgot to mention that in my post). So, honestly, I really didn't think it was carpal. The thing is that I have had this muscle pain since February and I didn't start exercising until about a month ago. I hate not knowing what is wrong with me. It's just a horrible muscle pain, and it makes me feel so tired too!
Avatar m tn While in a condition named trigeminal nerve neuralgia (fifth cranial nerve) there is unilateral sensory paresthesia of the face followed later on by sensory loss and trophic changes.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for your comment. I will check out the Mentax. I have been taking B12 for a while now.
Avatar f tn Is there any excercises that I can do to help a pinched nerve ?
Avatar f tn I have had low back pain that goes down my right leg for 6 months. I have done Physical Therapy exercises, but that increases the pain. I have had an MRI, EEG (which showed a problem with the nerve), two steroid injections (neither worked), CT Myelogram (which showed inflammation of the nerve), another MRI (this time with contrast, which also showed nerve inflammation).
Avatar n tn I have been have muscle spasms durning the night, it will wake me right up from sleeping. It is usually just the left leg, which happens to be the one I have syatic nerve pain on. I am being treated for that by having Lumbar epidurals. What can I do to stop or prevent these onset of painful spasms?
Avatar f tn vitamins are not preferably for your baby. It's mostly for you because actually the baby takes the majority of the vitamins from you.
Avatar f tn So, it seems to me that it cannot hurt to go ahead and take some supps for my nerves ( already take them for circulation ). So, besides the B vitamins, what works good for the nerves? I've read that Omega 3's are good. Please chime in for nerves, circulation or whatever!
1276659 tn?1271691149 thankyou doc :-) m taking vitamins regularly n m just waiting for the test n hoping that my problem will get solved...thanks n take care ...
Avatar m tn Neck strain, spondylotic changes in cervical vertebrae, bone disease or bad posture should be looked into. Nerve infections as in Lyme’s disease and nerve disorder such as Multiple sclerosis too should be investigated. I would suggest you get the blood levels of the following checked if they have not already been checked: potassium, calcium, sodium, magnesium, vitamin B complex, or vitamins B1, B3, or B6 and Vitamin D.
Avatar n tn Have they tried you on Neurontin (Gabapentin)? That is usually prescribed for nerve pain. You may benefit from taking Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA), which is an anti-oxidant supplement. Someone else told me about it, and I use it for the nerve pain I get from Fibromyalgia. She also mentioned an herbal supplement made by Naturway called Leg Veins that she uses. She also mentioned using Acetyl L Carnitine (kind of expensive) for break through nerve pain.
Avatar m tn yes and a good therapeutic massage therapist would be able to release that trapped nerve and tight muscle.
Avatar f tn I would try taking some supplements that support the adrenal glands, some of your symptoms suggest a sluggish adrenal gland function. The "B" vitamins are great for this problem as is Vitamin "C". Also, try taking the herb "Licorice" this is great for the adrenal glands, and a must is Bees Royal Jelly, you will get lots of energy from this plus, it is loaded with all the vitamins, minerals, amino acids and trace supplements known to man, it is outstanding.
Avatar f tn Also, from what I have experienced, getting my vitamins intravenously as aposed to vitamins helps me obsorb them better. The other best way for us to take in vitamins is in the sublingual form which is tablets absorbed under our tongue.
1379583 tn?1294260171 sorry for the late answer, but no need for supplementary examinations. your pain is typical dermatomal happening in nerve inflammation in herpes zoster for example and should be treated for months and sometimes years.
