Avatar n tn One thing for certain, that joint will never be the same as it was before the injury. He will certainly have good use of it, but it's going to be painful for a good long while. The physical therapy is the most important part of rehab. Unfortunately, it HURTS. I hope your son's doctor is making sure the pain issue is addressed so that PT will be successful. It's very important he do his homework exercises as prescribed by his therapist.
Avatar f tn I purchased some rather pricey vitamins which have no expiration dates. It's an individualized system where I'm to take Magnesium Glycinate, Glucosamine Sulfat, Joint Support, and CoQ10 30 mg in the morning packets and Magnesium Glycinat, Glucosamine Sulfat, Heart Formula, and Joint Support in the evening packets. Because these were so expensive I'd prefer to not throw them out; however, I've had them for over 3 years now. Since there is no date...can I still use them?

Avatar m tn I had numerous tests done to check my brain and also was put on anti seizure medicine for a month. The Dr could not conclusively fine a definite reason for the seizures and also started second guessing I'd indeed hey we're seizures. So in the middle of September life was getting back to normal. I was playing tennis and tore the meniscus on both sides of my right knee. So 3 weeks ago I had knee surgery to repair the meniscus.

Avatar f tn If it occurs,it can be to the material used in bolts and screws or to the anesthesia or medicines used during or after surgery or even rejection of the body to the prosthetic joint and formation of antibodies to the joint. You can get yourself tested for allergy by an allergist. Skin ***** tests or patch test can be tried. In this a small amount of allergen is introduced or touched in the skin of the forearm. Then a positive reaction consisting a red erythematous patch is noted.
192055 tn?1263555537 I had sternoclavicular joint repair in March of last year. My surgeon took my front neck muscle and wrapped it around my collarbone and breast bone to make it a stable joint. Well, the last few months I have been having a lot of neck pain mainly and some pain at the joint. My previous surgeon didn't want to use bolts since it would make it a fixed joint (there is suppose to be a little play) so I would lose some flexibility.
Avatar f tn Joint pain refers to discomfort, aches, and soreness in any of the body's joints. Joint pain is a common complaint, and does not typically require a hospital visit. Arthritis is a frequent cause of joint pain.
Avatar m tn You should go ahead with arthroscopy. Meniscal tears don't heal on their own. I've never heard of anyone having to wear a cast after a meniscal repair-possibly a knee immoblizer for a while, depending on the system used to repair it. But I guess it also depends on where you live. Also, repair vs debridement (trimming away the tear) depends on age and area of the tear. A meniscal tear can only be repaired if there is blood flow to the area.
Avatar n tn long headed repair can it be fixed twice will the bicept all ways look it has a dent in even after operation thanks
Avatar f tn The first meniscus surgery the doctor tried to repair it but the meniscus ended up tearing again. For the second surgery the doctor removed 30% of the medial meniscus. And now I went to another orthopedic doctor to get a second opinion and it turns out that the meniscus is torn once more in the same place. The doctor wants to remove more of my meniscus but I am scared that if he removes more of the meniscus that I will continue to have problems with my knee and the meniscus.
Avatar n tn The lack of an ability to repair and tear is ocasionally due to insulin utilization problems. High blood sugar levels in particuliar. I am not sure what the mechanism of action is, but it is present in some diabetics. I would get an insulin clamp test. A small amount of DHEA (a repair hormone) may help, but be very cautious. This is a powerful male hormone. Try daily regular exposure to sunlight. The weather is getting better.
Avatar m tn The recommended daily allowance for magnesium is 400 milligrams for males 19 to 30 and 420 milligrams for males 31 and older. The RDA for women 19 to 30 is 310 milligrams and 320 for those 31 and older.
Avatar m tn There are many surgical alternatives for either repair or reconstruction of the proximal tib/fib joint. What is more important thant the procedure chosen, is the expertise of the surgeon doing it, and his experience with the particular procedure. In other words, you pick the surgeon, let him pick the procedure. You should inquire as to his experience with this repair, it is not a common operation, and not all orthopedists have done a lot of them.
Avatar f tn I recently (3 months ago) had a labral tear repair but still seem to be suffering from hip pain, particularly in the middle of the night, whenever I resume any type of exercise.
Avatar f tn Also, what is good for joint aches and pains? My Rheumy put me on Gabapentin for the joint aches, it works ok, but it makes me have trouble with my memory and concentrating, also this made me feel unbalanced and dizzy as well. I know thyroid issues does affect memory, but the drug I'm on for joint pains has made it worse. Please let me know what some of you are on for this.
Avatar n tn Stick with the gluten-free diet for at least 6 months to give the GI tract time to repair. Dose vitamins/ supplements 2 times per day to keep levels constant. When starting new supplements, add one at a time and wait 3-4 days before starting another. That way if there is a reaction, you know what caused it. If yeast is a problem, Kirkman Labs makes Yeast Aid, which I dose at 1/4 tsp in the AM and again at night. Start low with this so as not to cause a die-off effect.
Avatar m tn The same happened to me - I was not at all informed about the results of tenotomy before surgery. I went in for repair to supersprinatus and subscapularis tendons on April 20 and came out with a popeye biiceps muscle after a tenonomy. I am 49, was an international gymnast and still extremely physically active. Totally depressed by all this. Did you have the repair done and how was recovery?
479581 tn?1317757488 The bunion required two screws for the repair and the rigid hammertoe had a portion of the joint removed. I recovered from the surgery without complications except that the foot still has pain, swelling and inflamation. There is no infection or stress fracture. Current x-rays show that my big toe is now too short (although the joint space is good) and this has apparently shifted my weight bearing to the 2nd and 3rd toes.
Avatar n tn freibergs infarction presents with flattening of the metatarsal head and pain at the joint. for surgical repair, a joint implant can be performed or osteochondral drilling of the cartilage to promote pseudocartilage growth. some physicians may even fuse the joint or remove the metatarsal head.
Avatar f tn The cyst is there probably cause i tore the lateral meniscus and they will repair it through cyst decompression when they repair the lateral meniscus, and unless they repair the torn lateral meniscus, if they just fix the cyst it might come back ... ???
182884 tn?1259312906 Since my ACL knee injury is older, perhaps a year or more, is the recovery period any more difficult or longer than someone who just injured their knee, if the procedure is the same for repair? Also being older, 56, how does my age figure into the recovery ? Does my age prevent repair in any way? What is your opinion or any suggestions? Thank you again for your help!
Avatar f tn If a ligament does not heal, instability of the joint occurs and the end-result is arthritis with good prospects for fusion or joint replacement surgery. Prolotherapy at any stage in the arthritis process can stop it. Even after arthritis occurs, Prolotherapy is still the treatment of choice. Studies on injured ligaments show that at least one year is required before healing has been completed or the total amount of healing occurs.Injured ligaments do not entirely regenerate.
