1900896 tn?1323043641 Withdrawal symptoms are very similar to a bad flu, runny nose, watery eyes, stuffy head sneezing, chills not to mention the horrendous restlessness, insomnia and the bathroom issues. So glad I'm over it. You will start feeling better pretty soon....
Avatar f tn I am hypo and I suffer from insomnia. It gets worse when I change doses. That is a sign for me that I am too anxious and that there is something wrong with my dose. If it does not get better for a reasonable time I know I have to do something about my dose. I do feel that is also related to sex hormones fluctuations (PMS and all that.) I do not take anything, I just try not to take naps, and if I definitely cannot sleep at night I do not fight it. I start writing, reading or watching TV.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone... Tomorrow will be my first day of hell trying to quit 120 to 200mg of opana per day. I've been taking this amount for about 2 months and prior to that 320mg of oxycontin and various amounts of percocet for about 2 years. I am truely dreading the next days and weeks of life. If anyone can offer me advice I would really appreciate it.
Avatar f tn Hey everyone, I quit ultram 19 days ago, and I wanted to say what worked for me and what didn't during my withdrawal. I was on 100mg of ultram a day for six months and quit cold turkey. The withdrawal was horrible, especially the leg cramps and insomnia. I am still having these symptoms but to a much lesser degree. So on to what help me... Non-med help: Stretching, walking, and hot showers provided real relief but the relief was short lived about twenty minutes before another cramp.
Avatar m tn The remedies you mention for sleep are for occasional insomnia, not chronic insomnia. All medications for chronic insomnia will probably eventually make it worse. As I said, medication is strong, but it's not safe. As you said, natural medicine can also have some pretty bad side effects -- 5-HTP doesn't agree with a lot of people, making many more nervous just as serotonin-targeting antidepressants can.
Avatar m tn s been progressively getting harder. Referring to insomnia, anxiety, depression, overly emotional etc. I do have a tremendous amount of negative things on my plate and feel the pressure. As it is with many of us the use starts because of external pressure seeking relief but it is as if the clearer my thoughts become the worse I feel. Any words of wisdom? I always hear that day 15 is a big turning point. I have also been told my insomnia this late and worse feeling is uncommon....?
Avatar n tn My husband has suffered from chronic, and I mean chronic, insomnia for years. He has seen many doctorsand taken numerous types of sleep meds. to no avail. Out of desperation, he finally went to a homeopathic doctor and did an extensive series of tests. The results showed a practically non-working adrenal gland which is somehow related to sleep. (I don't remember the exact details.) Anyway, no medical doctor had ever found this before.
Avatar f tn A lack of B vitamins will leave you feeling tired, irritated, depressed and jumpy at sounds or light sensitive. It can also cause insomnia with fatigue... Maybe you need D vitamins... More calcium. A lack of these vitamins cause depression. Maybe write the baby or read it a story when you are feeling frustrated. Studies show t hey can hear sounds and do respond.
Avatar m tn What I really love is K-Mag Aspartate because it just works so fast and well for me. I have occ'l RLS for no good reason! But, other things work very well, like quinine, which you can get in a bottle of tonic water. Very cheap! I take Calcium in the morning. I don't know about insomnia with it...I just never took it at night. Magnesium is just what works though...it seems that's what gets so depleted with drug use... Are you having trouble right now? Are you good?
492869 tn?1285018933 I am wondering, is there any safe treatment for insomnia in Dysautonomia? I take Ritalin/Theophylline to raise my blood pressure, but even still it can get too low for an accurate read. Does anyone else experience episodes of insomnia? How do you treat insomnia without lowing blood pressure, heart rate, and respiration? I recently asked one of my doctors about Melatonin, assuming that perhaps it would be less potent than some of the other sleep aids.
Avatar f tn I will be starting nursing school in a few months and was wondering if there is anything that can help with concentration, I have heard of many diff. vitamins such as mindset, do you know anything about any of these?
Avatar f tn I had insomnia for years and found zopiclone or night nurse (this is not what it is meant for, i wouldn't advise you to take it but drowsiness is a side effect) was the most effective but did leave me with a slight 'sleeping pill hangover' the next day. Obviously I don't know your whole situation and if there are other reasons to take antidepressants, you should really consult a doctor before coming off them.
Avatar m tn Congrats on Day 4. Your coming thru the worst of it now. Sleep/Insomnia was the hardest part for me as well. You can try the medication-ambien that has been prescribed to you. Just be careful that you dont abuse it,,you know what I mean? Sleep cycles can take 1-2 weeks to get regulated again. Hang in there and I hope you get a good nights rest tonight.
Avatar f tn This drug is for the GAD, but not if it's just for the insomnia. If it helps with the GAD it will apparently help with the insomnia, but antidepressants aren't sleep aids. As the above suggests, melatonin is for sleep. A lot of people are put on drugs that have an unwanted side effect of making people sleepy, but that doesn't make it a good choice for sleeplessness.
Avatar m tn According to the Linus Pauling Institute, the following doses and upper limits for vitamins B1, B3, B6 and B12 are recommended as safe for daily intake. Daily recommended intake of vitamin B1 is 1.2mg with no upper limit. Natural sources of vitamin B1 include one slice of whole wheat bread at .10mg or 3 oz. of lean pork at .72mg. Vitamin B3 daily recommended intake is 14mg to 16mg with an upper limit of 35mg. Sources of vitamin B3 include 3 oz. chicken at 7.3mg or 3 oz. of tuna at 11.3mg.
1070570 tn?1283436213 OK thank you both! I was suspicious anyways, that is why I asked! I didn't have a good feeling about it!! Thanks again!
Avatar m tn A Harvard study in 2004 demonstrated medications are not the best treatment for insomnia, but rather Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBTi) is better. CBTi is safe in the long term, is less expensive, has no side effects, and treats insomnia at the root cause instead of just trying to "knock someone out" like medications do. If you go see a sleep doctor in person, CBTi is what they will recommend.
Avatar m tn I would suggest you take a good, food grade vitamin with emphasis on the "B" vitamins. The "B" vitamins are the "nerve" vitamins and they can definitly help with the depression. The drugs the doc has you on can actually deplete the B vitamins, thus making you feel worse. A good brand is called "Standard Process Labs" I take them and they are the only ones that do not give me a tummy ache.
Avatar m tn On Zoloft 25 mg for 3 weeks. Initial terrible insomnia is getting better but still very tired. Sleeping 12-14 ours daily. Is this normal? Will it go away? Taking med in the morning and going back to sleep till 1-2 pm now. Will taking it at night help with the daytime fatigue or will it make insomnia worse? Will the fatigue make depression and anxiety worse if I cannot cope when school starts? Is Zoloft right for me? Should I be patient and wait longer?
Avatar f tn You need to eat even though I know your appetite is completely gone. I took spoons of coconut oil for fat to absorb vitamins and drank ensure and bananas. Sleep is probably not an option either because I was terrified to sleep because of the thoughts in my head. The good news is for me it turned off like a switch one day and everything became normal again.
Avatar m tn It really helped me relax and worked wonders for the RLS. I know everyone is different, but this worked for me. Good luck...
