Avatar f tn ve read D2 i has lower bioactivity, poorer stability, and shorter duration of action, resulting in approximately 33% lower potency compared with vitamin D3. Should I insist on the D3? He wants her levels to be between 50-100. My levels are also low 23, and I have renal artery stenosis. I have read that high doses of Vit D3 can cause kidney problems, so I am reluctant to go higher than the 5000 units I take now. I am due to see the dr. in a couple of weeks to see what he recommends for me.
Avatar m tn The vitamins and calcium with D3 are a good start. However, in order to absorb the Calcium and other vitamins she needs to make her own estrogen. I take Siberian Eleuthero (Ginseng) and Magnesium glycinate to help me make estrogen and build my bones. I have osteopenia also. For her stomach problems, I think she should be taking acidophilus and enzymes. I stopped taking PPIs and started taking Gluten Cutter from Walmart as it contains over 10 different enzymes.
Avatar f tn A thyroid specialist recommended it to me because he feels my dose of vitamin D 5400 IUs D3 daily is too high. (PremCal is 4000 D3 daily + calcium and magnesium in two tablets). My reservations about this cal-mag-D3 product is that the dose of magnesium is too low, the form of calcium is carbonate not citrate, and the D3 is in tablet not gel cap form. He did suggest that my D levels be monitored more regularly every 2-3 months so that I can stay on top of it which I think is good advice.
Avatar f tn Liver and intestines produce cholesterol. Look into Vitamin D3 level of 50 alpha lipoic acid and milk thistle to detoxify liver. Probiotics with most meals and magnesium in the P.M. if you have healthy kidneys. Take Care!!!
5844567 tn?1378967719 Hi, 2 years ago I was diagnosed with NO vitamin D in my system at all even though I had been taking multi vitamins with a total of over 1000 ui daily of vit D for many years in a tablet form. The reason for the test: memory loss, fatigue, speech, swelling, pain, vision, weight gain, numbness, hair falling out, etc for over 4 years that no doctor could figure out what was wrong with me & I finally asked for the actual vit D test..
398059 tn?1447945633 Do any of you know what some of the underlying causes are for the Vitamin D deficiency? I have had all sorts of problems and symptoms, and my doctors still haven't figured anything out other than arrhythmias, eye and head pressure, and hormone imbalances. I have posted on here before with a list of all of my symptoms so I won't go into detail again, but one of the problems is a chronic low Vitamin D level.

Avatar n tn I tested my vitamin D level. What do my results mean? I just picked the last two levels since the article is very long.... "My level is between 100-150 ng/ml Although these levels aren’t toxic and aren’t usually harmful, they are thought to be too high. There are no known benefits to having a vitamin D level over 100 ng/ml.
Avatar f tn I recently had some blood work done for PCOS and was found to have an insufficient level in Vitamin D (25-OH) (level of 23, with a normal range being 30-100 ng/mL) and to be on the low side of Vitamin B 12 (333 pg/mL with the normal range being 200-1100).
15848200 tn?1456634289 Vitamin D2 is also less effective than D3 so you need more D2 to get the same effect as D3. Recent research on professional athletes shows that supplementing with vitamin D2 does increase muscle soreness and recovery time after bouts of intense exercise.
757137 tn?1347196453 New guidelines recommend that everyone, including children, get 2,000 IU of Vitamin D3 each day. Vitamin D3 deficiencies are very common, and a deficiency early in life can disrupt immune function. These higher recommended doses suppress immune overactivation and decreased inflammation in the lungs. Vitamin D3 also reduces infections by viruses, bacteria, and fungi by stimulating the body to produce protective antimicrobial peptides.
Avatar f tn You show that you are vitamin D3 deficient and also vitamin B 12. Are you taking supplements now? Have you talked to your doctor about seeing a dietician? Good nutrition is so important to our health. Are you getting enough sunshine? You might try Guggul from the health food store to help your thyroid. A slow thyroid causes dry skin and eczema. I hope this information was helpful. Wishing you the best ...
Avatar f tn Have your Vitamin D3 level checked. Should be 50-70. Look into magnesium malate. Probiotics with every meal. CoQ10 and D-Ribose. All these will help with heart related problems and depression. Magnesium should be increased first then D3. You will feel much better in days. Most of us are low in all of these. Seek help if you are suicidal. Many meds can also make you feel like that. If your nutrient levels are optimum your need for medications will be reduced greatly. Take Care.
Avatar m tn A common SNP close the DHCR7 gene is associated with 25(OH)-vitamin D3 serum concentrations in patients with chronic liver disease. Interestingly, the association of this SNP with liver fibrosis was restricted to patients with no or mild fibrosis, suggesting that the modifier effect of vitamin D might only be discernible during fibrosis initiation and early fibrosis stages.
Avatar f tn Take magnesium (and calcium) along with the D3. It will help your body absorb it, and it will improve in time.
