1210142 tn?1266077031 The only way to get efficient D3 (which is not a vitamin but a steroid hormone miscalled a vitamin) is from UVB. Supplementation with enough D3 could compensate a lack of sun exposure. As with B complexes, you will always get flushing as it is not well absorbed no matter how you take it, food contains B, complexes are potent but you are most likely to absorb what you need and flush the rest. With a really healthy diet, I don't see the point of supplementing with potent B, C, A.
Avatar f tn Take vitamin D3 and higher than 400IU. Upper Tolerable Limit for vitamin D is 4000IU. You may not need that much however. Magnesium is needed for vitamin D absorption. I found that out when I couldn't raise my vitamin D or calcium that magnesium is the boss! :) "Very few foods in nature contain vitamin D. The flesh of fatty fish (such as salmon, tuna, and mackerel) and fish liver oils are among the best sources [1,11].

Avatar f tn I drink milk, go in the sun (skin gets red very fast) and eat other foods that contain it and have no problem, but I recently was told by my doctor that I have a vitamin D deficiency. She wants me to start taking vitamin D3 in a 2300 dose. My question is, is it possible to have an allergy to this vitamin even though I eat foods that contain it? Will this high level of vitamin D affect me in a negative way? I'm a little anxious about taking it.
Avatar m tn Ok maybe you are 100% right with natural Vitamin D3 from sun. But the problem is with supliment ingestion of vitamin d3. And natural vitamin D3 is not found in large quantities in food (eggs, fish oil and the list stops) in contrast with supliment that have large quantities from 1000 IU to 10.000 IU and maybe the ingestion of this quantity is harm for our health. For ex.

Avatar m tn Figuring out all the factors that can affect a person’s vitamin D levels is complicated. You can get the vitamin from food (mainly because it’s been added; few foods are natural sources of vitamin D) and by taking supplements (many doctors recommend taking 800 IU of vitamin D3 a day). But vitamin D is also produced by the body in a complex process that starts when rays in the invisible ultraviolet B (UVB) part of the light spectrum are absorbed by the skin.
Avatar n tn It is a synthetic form of Vitamin D and is very difficult for the body to process. Vitamin D3 is a natural form of Vitamin D that can be fully absorbed by the body. 5000 IU would be good until you get back up to normal. Then you should continue to maintain it with a lower dosage.
