Avatar f tn About 3 weeks ago, it was determined by blood test that he had a vitamin d deficiency, and his doctor put him on 50,000 iu of vitamin d per week. Very gradually he has started to have extreme anxiety, and trouble sleeping. This is something he has never had before, and it is very baffling, he is not under any particular stress. He had his thyroid checked yesterday with a blood test, and the test came back normal. Any suggestions?

4652866 tn?1373428175 Hay mommy! Luckily I came across this post cus I have ulcerative colitis as well. I was diagnosed in 2010 at tha age of 19. There's really no say soo of where this disease comes from but it isn't curable & can be managed with meds. I've been on Asacol but was taken off due to it causing me hairloss. I'm now on sulfasalazine but luckily I've been in remission tha past yr & a half.
Avatar f tn He has diarrhea very often and has tested with low vitamin D. He is taking a daily vitamin with vitamin d, probiotics, and fiber. He has always had a very full head of hair but lately his hair is getting VERY thin, to the point where I can see the outline of his head. His hair seems to be getting thinner, not really falling out. I have taken him to 2 dermatologists and they say it is probably genetic. His thyroid test came back normal.
Avatar f tn Hello, I am 38 years old and with a recent physical my CBC results have shown a 16.3 white blood count. (2 weeks prior it was 13.2) and a 8.8 vitamin D. Not sure if one reflects on the other. With no signs of obvious infections and no other health issues. So my question is does one affect the other and what are the possible reasons? I am waiting for an appointment with a hemotologist. But I am very worried and impatient.
Avatar n tn Hi, Ulcerative colitis is a form of inflammatory bowel disease . Ulcerative colitis is a form of colitis, a disease of the colon , that includes characteristic ulcers, or open sores. The main symptom of active disease is usually constant diarrhea mixed with blood, of gradual onset. IBD is often confused with irritable bowel syndrome , a troublesome, but much less serious, condition.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, So I've been on my thyroid meds for 8 weeks now, and I feel a huge difference in my temperature regulation-- I used to be cold all the time, and now I'm pretty comfortable. My bowel issues, however (bloating, mucus, tenesmus, lower abdombinal discomfort, gas, loose stools), have remained unchanged.

Avatar f tn s visit and subsequent bloodwork, a month and a half ago, she was found to be severely anemic due to iron deficiency (haemoglobin just under 7) and the general physician started her on iron supplement, vitamin B12 and Vitamin D (all were low). Her gastroenterologist started her on Mesalamine (4 capsules daily) and later added prednisone 100 mg enemas to try and get the flare-up under control. Avatar n tn I was told before that they "think" that I have ulcerative colitis. I was put on medication. But after it stopped helping, I stopped taking it, and I was fine. Then just recently I have been feeling horrible. Stomach pain, mostly on the right lower region, gas, bloating, nausea, fatigue, and sometimes stabbing pain in my right lower abdomen. I am not pregnant ( that I know of, I have an IUD) And this has been going on for 3 weeks, non stop.
Avatar f tn I have GERT and a weak valve in my esophagus, so I am not well informed with knowledge on ulcerative colitis, however, I can give to you a government website that provides information on all digestive disorders /diseases from A to Z. Go to http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov. On the upcoming webpage, look for link on Digestion, and click. The next page lists the digestive disorders/diseases. Scroll down the list until you find UC.
Avatar f tn Those are symptoms of ulcerative colitis and it doesn't have to hurt to be serious. You really need to get to the doctor and have this investigated.
