Avatar m tn Everything's going to be okay. If anything, your bones would suffer. Don't worry, vitamin D deficiency is extremely common. I take a chewable over the counter for of calcium with vital D. I just couldn't swallow those huge pills. Anyway, my vit D has gone up significantly.
5143317 tn?1383747820 I had my vitamin d tested about 2 months ago and my level was 36ng/l with a range of 30-100. I've been having crazy hypothyroid like symptoms for months. Weight gain, inability to lose weight, depression, mood swings, inability to control my emotions, low sex drive, dry skin, not sleeping good, etc. Could the low end vitamin D be causing the symptoms? I've had cortisol, various hormones and all thyroid tests, everything is normal.
Avatar f tn I take hair skin and nails vitamins,, they have all the stuff you need plus other good things:)
9444492 tn?1403968230 I have been told in the past that my Vitamin D has been low. To be honest I did not feel that it effected me that much and mine was 13. However, doctors can vary on what they consider low. Right now it's 20 something and nothing feels any different.
Avatar f tn Also, should i be giving my kids vitamin D??? or should i just have them drink alot of vitamin d fortified milk?? I would do whatever i could to prevent them from getting it..Too bad they didnt know about it years ago when i was pregnant. I live in NJ--not enough sun year round here. I also was born in April...My one daughter born in May, the other February, although her due date was beg. of March. Again, had I known, i would have had fall or winter babies. Anyway, thanks for the input.
5875562 tn?1410898886 Hi there, There are many vitamins which can help in ovulation. Vitamin D helps in calcium absorption and regulation and normalizes the development of healthy follicles and increases chances of conception. Folic acid intake helps in egg production and ovulation disorders .Calcium helps in egg maturation. Vitamin B6 is useful in women who have been suffering from luteal phase defects .Vitamin C supports ovulation by stabilizing hormone levels and aids in iron absorption.
Avatar f tn With this one, I was taking them from 4wks thru almost 9 or 10 wks and was beginning to slack, but then my Dr told me at my 11wk apt that I was vitamin D deficient and that I needed to take my prenatals plus an additional 1000iu of vitamin D. I'm 15 wks now and I have not missed a daily dosage since. I want my baby to be born healthy and if I can help it, I will.
Avatar m tn Thanks, Stef. I will take Vitmin d3. Any specific brand you can recommend or they are pretty much the same?
550622 tn?1247656720 My Endo has prescribed for me to take 50,000 IU of Vitamin once a week for three months due to a Vitamin D deficiency (level was 16). Has anyone else been diagnosed with this and taken that high amount of Vitamin D? I have Graves Disease, but am currently in remission. The Endo does lab work every 2 months and keeps close tabs on my progress. Thanks for any comments!
Avatar f tn Hi. A couple months ago my doctor checked my vitamin D level and told me it was 20 and that it was low so I should start taking vitamin D. Since then I've been taking 1000mgs on and off sometimes on for 2 weeks then off for 3 weeks....well I keep getting infections like sinusitis, I've had a UTI, tonsillitis, and now the stomach flu... I also have random pain on my body but lately mostly my left arm has been hurting and I've also had palpitations...
921312 tn?1351077913 0 so now what do i do cause i tried the vit D 1.
Avatar f tn low vitamin D, hyperthyroidism (for years), menopause, birth control pills and excessive Vitamin A intake for an eye condition. Rather than jump into taking drugs that keep old bone longer than it should be, I am treating these conditions by adding Vitamin D, calcium, magnesium, estradiol and progesterone. I also take fish oil and Vitamin C. I no longer take additional Vitamin A other than what is in my multivitamin. I exercise five to six days a week.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm 18 and was diagnosed with vitamin D deficiency in Feburary earlier this year with a level of 15nmol and was only put on 800iu a day. However my symptoms got very bad by July so I was put on a weekly tablet of 20,000iu d3 a week and after just 4 weeks my levels had risen up to 110nmol so I carried on taking the weekly dose for 4 more weeks but my doctor never repeated my blood test at the end of it.
Avatar n tn I got a call this morning from my doctor who informed me that my Vitamin D Level was low is this bad? I have pills that she gave me haven't taken them yet though. What causes this? And any other info ya'll can give me will be reatly appreciated cause i'm kind of worried bout this.
Avatar f tn I was told I was low on vitamin d but she said that there would be vitamin d in a prenatle vitamin . I'd you don't want to take them cos they make you feel craps then don't...
Avatar f tn The nurse called me next day and told me my vitamin d level was a 7 and very low. She said calcium was okay. I was prescribed prescription strength vitamin d 50,000 units once per week for 6 weeks. But I have severe anxiety of taking pills. Since its a capsule with gel inside I cant even crush it and there is no tablet form of this medicine. Is there another way to overcome this vitamin deficiency without having to take pills? If I leave it untreated, are the health risks minimal?

Avatar m tn that s a very dangerous low level with very high mortality risk even in healthy persons and vitamin d injections are the best for this situation, my baseline was 11ng/ml a little better than yours and from my experience of 3 years trying to make it to optimum levels only 10.000-20.
