Avatar m tn I had been prescribed a supplement for the treatment of acne and the salts in that supplement contain myo -inositol, D-Chiron Inositol, Chromium and Vitamin D3 and I have been taking these for 3 months now. I haven't been diagnosed with any PCOS or hormonal imbalance in my reports. Is it safe to take these supplements without any side effects as i read on internet these supplements are used for PCOS treatment mainly.
Avatar n tn I know that ProActive is a good one, tends to dry out your skin though. I took Accutane way back in the day, don't even know if they still have that on the market, it helped so much. I have heard that high doses of Vitamin D also help, I have heard that, haven't tried it. Ask your doctor first.
Avatar n tn Natural or synthetic analogues of vitamin A has been successful with skin disorders including acne vulgaris. Research has shown supplements of vitamin A has not proved successful. Before you take supplements of any minerals/vitamins, such as zinc, suggest getting blood work first to see what your levels are. Taking too much zinc can lower your immune system. Hoped this helped you.

19313606 tn?1476424995 Hello~ It could be due to oily skin in these areas, try using a special wash and ointment on them for a few days and see if this helps. Also, could possibly be a vitamin "D" deficiency. As to food allergies, some can cause this, so, stop eating foods that you eat lots of and then gradually add them back, if the acne clears up while not eating them, then you are on the right track.
Avatar f tn I had my whole thyroid removed 2 yrs ago. The levothyroxine wasn't absorbing so recently they put me on levothyroxine and cytomel as a booster for 9 days. My vitamin D levels.were very low. Now out of nowhere, I am getting a rash all around my neck. So.etimes very light sometimes not visible either. But the skin feels rough feeling. So I'm thinking it must be a thyroid issue or lack of vitamin D. I'm starting vitamin D today that the dr prescribed to be. We will see what happens.
Avatar m tn Now I have deficiency of vitamin D, and in addition, other symptoms, such as kidney problems and high levels of PTH are appearing. And some problems on my skin continues to appear, like "acne" with hematoma-like coloration, but which is only acne (based on what my dermatologist have determined, for now). My doctors are as baffled as I am. I never saw a rheumatologist, because I was never referred to one and no one thought it was necessary. TL;DR: Suspected CTD. Negative antibodies.
Avatar f tn Optimal is about 55-60. I also recommend that you test for Vitamin A, Vitamin B12 and ferritin. Vitamin A because of its potential effect on the acne. B12 has a significant effect on energy levels. B should be in the very upper end of its range. Ferritin should be about 70 minimum. Low ferritin can adversely affect metabolism of thyroid hormone. Following is a link to good info on PCOS, in which you will notice the possible effect on acne.
Avatar f tn One a day vitamin, vitamin b-12 (which I am also deficient), 10, 000 in vitamin D, magnesium, vitamin C. This vitamin cocktail will help your body build back up. It takes 6 months for the vitamin D to be fully absorbed in your system...which is frustrating because you want to feel better faster. I am a busy mother so I sometimes only ate once per day. This causes low Vitamin D too. I hope this helps someone...anyone....and I hope all of you start to feel better.
Avatar f tn One thing that you should have checked is your vitamin D levels. IBD causes your body to be unable to absorb this vitamin. This can make you feel very fatigued. Mine was very low. I am about to start supplementing with mega doses to get my levels back to normal.
17456918 tn?1460948562 vit d deficiency but magnesium, zinc, vitamin mk7 are cofactor to vit d
988694 tn?1332359479 I am also at 14 with Vitamin D, I am taking a supplement, I have to retest in two more months. I am not allergic to vitamin D because I have not been taking magnesium and I have no hives. My nutritionist said that as I eat more I would get my magnesium, but I was reading online that a great amount of food had to be eaten in order to achieved the minimum recommended which is 400mg per day. I would be happy with 200 mg per day.
Avatar f tn Of these, progesterone is the most important in the prevention and cure of acne—and thyroid hormone plus natural vitamin A work to ensure its formation. So why not just take straight progesterone? You can, but if you have a thyroid deficiency, it's most important to correct that, since thyroid plays the greater role in overall metabolic health.
5143317 tn?1383747820 I had my vitamin d tested about 2 months ago and my level was 36ng/l with a range of 30-100. I've been having crazy hypothyroid like symptoms for months. Weight gain, inability to lose weight, depression, mood swings, inability to control my emotions, low sex drive, dry skin, not sleeping good, etc. Could the low end vitamin D be causing the symptoms? I've had cortisol, various hormones and all thyroid tests, everything is normal.
Avatar f tn My vet said that my male dog which has not been neutered should take Vitamin D to keep him from having seizures. Is this dangerous?

Avatar m tn Hi. I'm dealing with low vitamin D myself after recently discovering it is low. I've been supplementing for quite a while before learning that I'm low. Going to pick up portabello & shiitake mushrooms until my visit with GP. If I learn anything of value I'll share it here. It is said not to shower for 24 hours after sun exposure for full absorption of Vit D.
