Vitamin b6 luteal phase

Common Questions and Answers about Vitamin b6 luteal phase

Avatar f tn I read a lot about Vitamin B6 and how it can lengthen a short luteal phase, so I started taking 120 mg of B6 last cycle, midcycle. I was very happy to see that it actally worked. My luteal phase was 12 days that cycle (I am charting my BBT). This cycle however, I'm already 14 dpo and no sign of AF yet. I had AF-like cramping and pain around 11 and 12 dpo, but AF didn't show up. Now I have no symptoms at all, not of AF nor of pregnancy.
465737 tn?1315754922 my luteal phase was 9-10 days and i was really concerned. i took 50mg of vitamin b6 along with my prenatals and it increased my luteal phase to 12-13days at my next cycle. i was actually taking 100mg to start, but decreased it to 50 when i noticed it was helping. when i first got pregnant, i expressed this luteal phase disfunction to my doctor and asked for her to pay special attention to my progestrone levels.
Avatar f tn I have heard that taking the vitamin B6 can help lengthen your luteal phase, as well as progesterone cream. I bought B6 vitamins over the counter, but you'd probably need to speak to your doc about other methods.
1150481 tn?1270490136 I had taken b6 earlier which increased my cycle length from 26-27 days to 31 days. infact my luteal phase earlier was very short like 10days b6 increased it to 12-13 days. may b i will have to take it this month too. thanks heather i will take it from today itself am on cd1.
Avatar n tn What is the luteal phase? I am trying to get pregnant and all this is really new to me.
Avatar f tn a luteal phase defect occurs when the time from your ovulation to a period is less than ten days. i realised i had the same problem (8-9 days)and i started to take vitamin b6. This pushed my luteal phase this cycle to 15 days. i'll recomend it to you anytime.
384150 tn?1399904816 You could also try vitamin B6. Some of the women on here been able to lengthen their luteal phase that way (although I guess it can take a few months before you see results). How long is your luteal phase now?
1847804 tn?1323322096 For the last five months my cycles have only been 20(sometimes 19)days apart and I have been Ttc for 10months now (I got a new phone and lost the first 5 mos of tracking) and I realized my luteal phase may be less than ten days... I downloaded a separate app to track my cycles with 20day intervals instead of 28 and the projected dates show that my fertile week starts the day after my period end and my LP is only 8 days long...can I do something to fix it or should I go to the dr?!
598319 tn?1282102140 and low progesterone can be a factor in luteal phase defect. So it started to make sense to me that my luteal phase might actually ahve been only 6 days long, and not just an error in my tracking. So I was jsut wondering if anybody out there has struggled with this and what you did to become pregnant ... or what are trying to do. I know progesterone supplements can be prescribed and I've also heard about Vitex (chaste berry or soemthing) for the long term.
Avatar f tn A large percentage ovulatory and menstrual problems are caused directly or indirectly by low levels progesterone following ovulation (the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle). Low levels of progesterone may cause LPD (luteal phase defect) or corpus luteum insufficiency. In the context of hormonal imbalances, Vitex may prove helpful with these infertility issues. According to studies and clinical research, vitex has proven effective.
Avatar n tn Birth control pills cause a deficiency in B6, which can make your prolactin levels rise, which can in turn lead to a luteal phase defect. Supplementation with these large doses of B6 corrects the deficiency and the timing of ovulation hopefully goes back to normal. Is there a concern about too much B6? B6 is not a vitamin prone to overdose- it is water-soluble and the excess will simply be secreted in the urine.
Avatar f tn Hi there have you tried vitamin b6 i use this has lengthen my luteal phase by 3 days.i now have 13 day luteal phase as for the exact timing of o.can differ each month, usually the actual ewcm is considered the last fertile day,so ideally as long as you bedding during the 5 days up to it,you are ok.you could try charting,it gives you somting to look back on,each month to check what cd you o.best of luck.
1771524 tn?1324630658 Vitamin B6-it helps with a luteal phase defect (when a woman’s luteal phase is less than 10 days in length) it can help improve it so its longer and the woman is less likely to MC because it gives her more time... i dont know what it does for women who already have a regular luteal phase tho.. Vitamin B12- together with folic acid works to ensure that your baby's genetic codes are intact...
Avatar n tn I have a normal 28 day cycle with the exception of this excess bleeding in my luteal phase. I have had an ultrasound performed to check for polyps and fibroids and they were both negative. The doctor did mention that I have a septation in my uterus but stated that it wasn't a problem. Any suggestions on what could be causing my infertility or the next steps to take?
121828 tn?1333464491 ) I have been taking 100mg of vitamin b6 every night and it has helped lengthen it by a few days. You could always start there if you aren't ready to talk to a doctor about it yet. I haven't seen my ob/gyn, but will be scheduling an appointment soon. I need my annual pap anyway and I figured it would be a chance to talk about my TTC issues as well.
Avatar f tn Lissie- hi! You need a luteal phase over 10 days in order to conceive because there wouldn't be enough time for a fertilized embryo to implant before your body begins to menstruate. If your body menstruates it sloughs off the uterine lining. Think of your womb like a nest. Your period is shedding that nest. No nest = no baby. I believe taking B6 or some B vitamin can help lengthen your luteal phase. You'll need to do some research on that end.
341299 tn?1213042788 I took a good quality B-6 vitamin supplement along with my regular prenatal vitamin and my luteal phase lengthened within just a few months. Then I became successfully pregnant with our second baby, so it worked for us. Are you charting too? Taking your basal body temperature with charting may help you determine your cycles more accurately. This book and website really helped me: www.tcoyf.com. (Taking Charge of Your Fertility). good luck!
583196 tn?1429221155 yep its def good for lengthening the luteal ph and dont take more than 50 mg per day also vitex can help with lengthening it as well :)
377493 tn?1356502149 Please see your doctor first. I do not suggest Vitex or B6 for luteal phase defect if indeed that is what you have. I do think that seeing a reputable practioner of acupuncture and herbal medicine with a speciaty in fertility can be helpful but first see your doctor.
Avatar f tn Calcium helps in egg maturation. Vitamin B6 is useful in women who have been suffering from luteal phase defects .Vitamin C supports ovulation by stabilizing hormone levels and aids in iron absorption. It also boosts the immune system .Iron balances ovulation. All these vitamins and minerals are essential for healthy conception. Take a balanced diet rich in all these vitamins and minerals. Exercise daily and reduce weight if you are overweight.
202436 tn?1326474333 I noticed your luteal phase is only 11 days, have you thought of trying to increase this perhaps with b6 vitamin, this is perfect for that, ideally you need at least 12 days luteal phase,if your TTC that is.
Avatar f tn And yes, there are supplements to lengthen said luteal phase. Vitamin B6 which is also probably in your prenatals, works to help lengthen your LP, as does clomid which you can be prescribed by your doctor if you don't ovulate or have LPD.
594189 tn?1386916607 When I started using OPKs I realized that I was having a short luteal phase too (8-9 days) I started taking 100mg of B6 every night and now I have a luteal phase of 10-14 days!

465737 tn?1315754922 i took b6 the entire time i was trying to conceive to lengthen my luteal phase. it worked like a charm! i don't recall my pee changing colors. i can't really remember... i took 100mg, but after my first cycle decided to reduce to 50mg and that still did the job.
