Avatar n tn I take vitamin B12 Complex once a day and there are no side effects to this dietary supplement. This is actually a great source and mineral for the reduction of anxiety disorders. Of course, like any oral med/mineral, it's possible to overdose...but you'd have to take a hell of a lot to get to this point! To me, u cannot get enough of Vitamin B....
691724 tn?1230682644 Energy drinks are all the craze. My husband uses those little bottles of 5-HOUR ENERGY drinks. I read the label and it has extremely high amounts of Niacin and B12. I know certain vitamins are stored in the body while others aren't. Are these B vitamin doses safe on a regular basis? Also what happens to the body when high doses of B vitamins are ingested like this?
10286430 tn?1409048492 Hi Penny - Did you mean B6 overdose? As with any supplement it is possible to overdose B6. Symptoms of a B6 overdose can mimic MS symptoms.
Avatar f tn No you won't get a vitamin overdose from eating cereal with your vitamins. I like carnation instant breakfast and its vitamin levels are much higher than cereal levels and I've never suffered any ill effects. If you're very concerned you can switch to taking your multi vitamins at night so that the vitamins in the cereal will have already been absorbed or passed through your system by then.
1319721 tn?1276040968 Are you sure you're taking Vitamin A, or beta carotene yielding that much Vitamin A? Unless you have a specific reason to, it's not recommended to take Vitamin A as a supplement, as it's liver toxic if you take too much. But you can take all the beta carotene you want, and it will convert to as much Vitamin A as you need and flush the rest or use it for other purposes.
Avatar n tn Are leg cramps, weakness and soreness in the legs symptoms of a mutli vitamin overdose? I took about 12-14 over a three day period, thinking they were Tylenol. I also had a stomach ache, intestional cramps and very severe, frequent diarrhea. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.
Avatar f tn s time and stopped eating vitamin k veggies for a few days and got back to normal. If you have a true overdose Vitamin K and/or plasma will reverse the drug, not so with the newer blood thinners -- no antidote. If mine is high and I can't get the clinic as on a weekend I take an extra vitamin with K.
Avatar m tn After I my thryoid totally removed (along with one parathyroid) and had I 131 treatment in Sept of last year, the doctor put me on 5000 units of Vitamin D 2000mg of Vitamin C per day. Is this replacing something that the parathyroid or thyroid was producing. My wife says that 5000 units of Vit. D is considered an overdose. Is anyone else doing this kind of thing?
Avatar f tn I just take one prenatal vitamin a day. I think it is possible to overdose vitamins, and esp. too much vitamin A and iron can be dangerous in pregnancy. Others, like vit. C or follic acid are water soluble, which means you will pee out the excess amounts. Definitely ask your dr. about it! You may want to check the ingredients on both, add up how much of each vitamin you're taking and then look up what dosages are dangerous.
Avatar f tn The Vitamin E overdose effect occurs when more than 1,000mg of Vitamin E is taken per day. Acute vitamin E toxicity effects include nausea, gastric distress, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, headache, fatigue, easy bruising and bleeding, inhibition of platelet aggregation, diplopia, muscle weakness, and creatinuria.
Avatar f tn 5 I did not know much about vitamin D deficiency. I am a natural redhead and never spent a lot of time in the sun due to burning easily. I am now 61 yrs old and was diagnosed 10 years ago with fibromyalgia. I am wondering if a lot of my joint pain and muscle pains are happening now because of low vitamin d instead, It is like I have been in a bad flare for 4 or 5 months now. I was also given a script for 50,000 of D2 a week and then realized I still needed D3 the most.
335728 tn?1331414412 I purchased a bottle of D3 which does not say on the bottle that it is a "vitamin" like the D does.... Can anyone tell me what the difference is between D3 and Vitamin D? I asked the pharmacist at Walmart where the vitamin D was and he put this bottle of D3 in my hand and I wonder if I should take it...I assumed he knew what he was giving me...stupid me, yet again!
Avatar m tn s more worrisome than the amount of zinc, though why are you taking so much zinc? Both are toxic in overdose. B6 can also be a problem in overdose for some people -- there's a neuropathy associated with it that doesn't affect most people, but it does some. Make sure you have a good reason to think you're deficient in these and actually need them.
Avatar n tn You certainly can overdose on Vitamin D3, but just go get your levels checked by the doctor. It is a simple blood test easily done.
Avatar n tn I just wanted to add that according to a few websites vitamin e has very little effect on preventing stretch marks. You may want to try a cream specifically designed for stretch marks. Also, it is kind of hereditary to get stretch marks so if your mom and sister have them chances are you will too, no matter what you do to prevent them. I know it stinks, my belly looks like a freakin tiger. Good luck though, I hope you are one of the lucky women to not get them!
242912 tn?1660619837 Vitamin D is Vitamin D whether it is prepared in a veterinary med, or a human one. The only crucial thing is it is always wise not to add supplements or vitamins to the dog's diet without checking first with the vet. Dosages are very different for dogs. Also, as Vitamin D is stored in the liver, overdose is possible.
Avatar f tn going by the above estimates I first wrote, you should be able to easily take 20 000 IU of Vitamin D3 on a daily basis with no trouble if you want to raise your levels faster, but a similar approach can be achieved with 10 000 IU supplementation on a daily basis. You'd need to have your Vitamin D levels checked to see where they are exactly. You'll only be able to tell then... but 1 000 IU to 2 000 IU on a daily basis is not really enough.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if anyone knew that they had a toxic reaction to taking too much B6 at a high dose for too long? That they had a reaction of a shock, that ran in a current. I think its best describe as a electric current that ran a course. I felt this shock in 4 different spot and then it was repeated. It ran from my diaphragm to esophagus to my heart and to the back of my head. (I had been ill for about 2-3 months after I had ingested three months of 300mg. of B6, when this happened.
850233 tn?1332084532 i had the vitamin D conversation with my Dr. a couple of weeks ago and he told me that taking 1000 iu a day of Vitamin D would be beneficial and wouldn't hurt me. Apparently, you can overdose on vitamin d so you have to be careful.
Avatar n tn Hi I recently bought a 600mg calcium with vitamin D, becaue I was told by my dentist that I had decalcification shown on my teeth. And that was the reason I bought them. But now Im scared cause My older sister told me it is very bad to take too much calcium and now I've stopped taking them. I took two chewables which is 1200 mg for 5 days now im scared cause she told me that can damage my bones. Also her doctor told her that even 500mg is too much. I am an active female age 19.
Avatar n tn However, what physicians are seeing in chronically ill patients is that they have vitamin D dysregulation. We have a low vitamin D, but a higher vitamin D 1,25 hydroxy. If our vitamin D hydroxy gets too high... we are risk for organ damage. There is some very controversial new research that suggests that a vitamin D deficiency may be a symptom of a disease and supplements can make it worse.
