insurance

Avatar f tn Yes you do, here in the UK we have the nhs so we don't have to pay, but other countries like US don't have nhs they have health insurance instead so, like with our car insurance, if u don't have insurance or ur insurance doesn't cover it then u have to pay
Avatar n tn Additionally, I have very limited central vision, although peripheral vision seems to be ok. There is no discernible inflammation/redness of the eye. The removal was done with anesthetic drops following dilation. Ultrasound was used to break up the cataract. I was on drops for three weeks, later put on anti-inflammatory drops, which the surgeon (see below) later ordered me to stop.
Avatar f tn Avastin does not have a produce license in the UK for opthalmic use. I think the US, like the UK, has a drug licensing system - this has nothing to do with cost or rationing. Nevertheless our system is not rigid - a drug can still be prescribed outside of its license conditions on clinical grounds.
Avatar f tn Why do you need travel insurance so badly? Some credit cards, like I believe AMEX, give you insurance for a variety of travel needs. You should really worry about getting health insurance as your chances of having a major stroke are about 35%. That's when the really big costs can occur. And now with ObamaCare no insurance company can turn you down. But if you didn't have insurance before March 31, you will now have to wait until the Fall.
Avatar f tn Sharon, In the UK the rules are so different. I understand over there they take your license away for 6 months if you have a heart attack! I would check on the rules to be sure, but it seems to me that I have read you must report your MS to the proper authorities.

Avatar m tn Hi, I am in the UK, I would like to know what is the current view on the light adjustable lens in Sept 2013? I am considering one, the problem of course is it is not generally available and it is difficult to get a balanced view on it. I spoke to a surgery in Manchester today - it is only fitted in 3 places in the UK and was told they had treated 200 eyes so far with an excellent success rate - but 200 eyes is not a lot to me - they are probably still learning, is that a reasonable concern.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with myopic degeneration and receive the intraocular injection which is very effective. My insurance carrier will not cover the cost of the injection (medicine and surgery). If I had a diagnosis of macular degeneration it would be fully covered. I am looking for suggestions as to how to make my case with the insurance carrier that this is not a one time event but a chronic condition that if not treated would result in a loss of vision.
Avatar n tn My husband (40 y/o,healthy)and I (40 y/o, healthy) are looking to get our health insurance coverage from next present. Right now we are on cobra GHI( extension from my previous work place) but they are asking me to change to EMPIRE PPO or EPO since they will not have GHI. I did not have dental and vision coverage previously but even if I want it they are saying they cannot add it. They are also asking for a one year committment.
Avatar m tn s side of the family is from the uk. While my great aunt was visiting, she asked about the dentists office over here and if we had to pay for them. She looked flabbergasted when we said yes. She told us that in England she walks in, gets whatever she needs done, signs some paperwork, and walks right out. She also happens to be a nurse and gave me some medical advice on health issues I was having at the time. I was lucky.
Avatar f tn I feel totally like I have no idea what to expect. I had vision of my laying there with nothing to cover my modesty which panicked me even more. I'm hoping for a water birth if possible and have no idea what I'd wear for that??
9624973 tn?1413016130 If you need treatment they will discuss that with you and yes it will be free if you have national insurance ( medical insurance) . I could recommend UCLH ( if you are based in London),they are very friendly and so far I havent had any problems with them. Good luck , if you need more info just let me know.
Avatar m tn His doctor told him that even with a new prescription his vision cannot be corrected (in the bad eye) to better than 20-50. He has trouble driving during the day (always thought the problem was night driving) because of glare, and cannot read signs.
Avatar m tn my eyes hurt like there being pushed back in my head when i hurt the most i have flashes of light or dark spots in my vision, i get sharp pain in my head like something sharp scrapping across brain. i hurt more in the evenings when trying to go to sleep.started about 5 months ago started with just my whole arm or leg burning pain for a day or 2 would go away then come back. after about a month all of muscles burning or intence dull ache. then started muscle twitching soon after.
Avatar f tn Also, see if there is a birth center near you. I know our local BC has options for families with no insurance. The total out of pocket to deliver there and be seen throughout the pregnancy is about $4500 compared to 3x that amount about the hospital.
8793709 tn?1409594060 here in the UK, NHS arranges the scan and midwife appointments for free with your nearest birthing center / maternity hospital. When it comes to birthing and hospital stay, what part is free and what expenses do i have to bear from my pocket? I don't have medical insurance here in the UK. but i have a house and medical insurance (which covers my pregnancy) in Switzerland, where i'll be provided with various comforts and medical attention if i give birth there. so ...
Avatar f tn No. Not unless you want the govt to pay for it. Oh, wait you are in the UK, then yes you will have to wait until you are blind as a bat!
Avatar n tn s father insurance he has really good insurance...

1282384 tn?1271431332 Now my left eye is acting up and I do not have any insurance since I got laid off over a year ago and have not been able to find work. I'm concerned about driving since my vision is so distorted in sunlight. I'm wondering how bad will my vision get and are there any options for me to get the surgery done without insurance...like payment plans or something?
Avatar f tn Hello! So I got a new job and didn't sign up for the vision plan because I have plenty of contacts, so decided to sign up during enrollment in January, but I did sign up for Medica health insurance. Now I have a growth in the corner of my eye. Not on the eyeball but in the way corner next to the nose. It is red, doesn't hurt or itch, is just super annoying because it touches by eye sometimes and feels like some eye boogers and I constantly want to rub it away.
Avatar f tn Hi Frrecks, I'm sorry that I don't know anything about the insurance, since we still have private insurance. It has to be so difficult to set aside the financial worries and concentrate on feeling better. I do know a lot of the DMD companies have programs to assist anyone without insurance. As for my private insurance cost, my employer just finished the open enrollment for next year and here is what I will be paying for my health insurance - $238.00 a month for me and my spouse.
Avatar m tn Around 3 months ago I had a check up with my optician after 1 year, she prescribed me some new lenses and everything was ok for about a week or so. After that week I started getting blurred vision in my right eye again and pain as if someone is pushing on my eye. I'm deeply worried as my family has a history of glaucoma and diabetes (I believe both can cause the loss of vision?).
