I have been diagnosed with myopic degeneration and receive the intraocular injection which is very effective. My insurance carrier will not cover the cost of the injection (medicine and surgery). If I had a diagnosis of macular degeneration it would be fully covered. I am looking for suggestions as to how to make my case with the insurance carrier that this is not a one time event but a chronic condition that if not treated would result in a loss of vision.

My husband (40 y/o,healthy)and I (40 y/o, healthy) are looking to get our health insurance coverage from next present. Right now we are on cobra GHI( extension from my previous work place) but they are asking me to change to EMPIRE PPO or EPO since they will not have GHI. I did not have dental and vision coverage previously but even if I want it they are saying they cannot add it. They are also asking for a one year committment.

Also, see if there is a birth center near you. I know our local BC has options for families with no insurance. The total out of pocket to deliver there and be seen throughout the pregnancy is about $4500 compared to 3x that amount about the hospital.

im in need of some help. i need health insurance but i just lost my job. now that i have palpitations im scared to drive or do anything. i went to the er and they did a ct scan with contrast and said they didnt find anything wrong. i just feel like crap. out of energy. all blood test came back good. i got a ct scan with contrast for my head last week but i havent heard back from them with the results so im guessing they didnt find anything.

Now my left eye is acting up and I do not have any insurance since I got laid off over a year ago and have not been able to find work. I'm concerned about driving since my vision is so distorted in sunlight. I'm wondering how bad will my vision get and are there any options for me to get the surgery done without insurance...like payment plans or something?

Hello! So I got a new job and didn't sign up for the vision plan because I have plenty of contacts, so decided to sign up during enrollment in January, but I did sign up for Medica health insurance. Now I have a growth in the corner of my eye. Not on the eyeball but in the way corner next to the nose. It is red, doesn't hurt or itch, is just super annoying because it touches by eye sometimes and feels like some eye boogers and I constantly want to rub it away.

the lightaheadness as gone away a little bit except when using bathroom when pushing i see more dots and more light and lightheades...what does this mean ? have no insurance and wont until middle of nov..

Don't take your doctor's word that your insurance won't cover the multifocal lens. My insurance paid for it after I explained all the facts to them. The doctors office had only submitted it after I hounded them about it. When they did it went as a non-medically necessary facility charge. When I explained to insurance it was not that. When a cataract is removed a lens is necessary. This marked the cost from $2,000 down to $120. that insurance covered.

I'm 24 years old and started having occasional increased eye pressures at around 12. My vision in left eye is 20/60 and in right eye is 20/240. In the last 2 years I've had 3 eye examinations which all came back with pressures increased in both eyes left ranges 22-24 but right eye is 29-34. My eye DR. did a visual field test and it seems I have a blind spot in my upper right field in the right eye.

I have Chiari Malformation and I had decompression surgery where they removed the bottom of my skull and the top half of the C1 vertebrae. I was on 4 different eye drops, had antibiotics (oral and 2 shots), steroids, and saw 3 different doctors. It finally cleared up but the vision in my left eye is now changed. It is blurry and I see a halo around lights at night. The opthamologist said my eyes were dry and advised me to use dry eye drops. I live in Texas & just qualified for Medicaid for Pregnant Women since I have a deductable with my insurance & it won't cover my appts. I was just wondering if it covers dentist visits & vision & stuff or do I have to have full medicaid for that? Anybody know?

m 51 and spent the last seven years going through six optometrists trying to get clear distance vision for driving. Note that not one did a pupil dilation. My initial visit with the first office was because I complained of double vision at night. This was after having worn Ortho-Ks for 12 years with tremendous satisfaction with 20/10 correction. Last year I was finally been diagnosed with cataracts of both eyes.

I would suggest you insist your doctor give your husband a full refraction (eye exam) and find out exactly what his prescription is, including any astigmatism, then see if he can be helped with progressive glasses. If his vision improves with glasses and he can see to read and drive he will be in better shape than many other Rezoom patients.

Since the second operation, I have had double vision. This is now over four weeks. When does it go away. At first, I had to hold on to my son's shoulder to walk in the store, like the blind walk. However, it is somewhat better, as I can see most of the time, but I have not attempted to drive at night. I see halo's around all lights. I have not attempted to play tennis anymore, as I do not know which ball to hit.

d like to minimize your dependence on glasses, consider having your lenses set for blended vision (distance vision in dominant eye, intermediate vision in nondominant eye). With this correction, you might only need glasses for prolonged reading or seeing small print.

I had cataract surgery on left eye on 5/27/08. Good result. I could see distance clearly from both eyes. Didn't even need to use reading glasses. My right eye had a cataract as well but Dr. said I could wait since I had good vision. I decided to go ahead with right eye on 8/19/08 because vision was still "yellowish" if I closed left eye. Big mistake.

On 4/29/08, I received a letter from my Cobra Insurance Co., saying that they were refunding my payments, from 7/1/07, as I was eligible for Medicare at that time. Of course, a huge stack of bills, totaling over 170,000 was included with the check. I am 64. After researching, I find out that I had to elect Medicare B? I was never told this, and therefor I have no paperwork on it.

Hello Doctors, Under advice of my current doctor I am seeking second opinions about a surgery I am considering to improve my vision. I had a IOL placement several years ago. During that surgery I experienced a suprachoroidal hemorrhage. Luckily, I still have good vision with some minor issues like waves in my vision. I have traumatic mydriasis and very bad glare issues. I am considering implant of a prosthetic iris to help with these issues.

Most noticeably he may not have clear vision either near, in his mid vision or for distance. I gave up a zone (mid) to have better near and far vision. Toric IOLs are used to correct astigmatism, but are single focus and can be set to one of the three zones. I don't believe there are yet multifocal Toric IOLs available in North America. As JodieJ described, there are other options. Properly mapped Lasik can certainly reduce astigmatism.

On this visit the doctor stated that with this degree of near sightedness they were going to start filing this on our medical insurance instead of vision insurance. Does this mean that he should probably see an opthamologist for an eval just to make sure it is just plain old near sightedness????

Thank you so much for your responses. I will try to locate the doctor you both described, however I live in a fairly small town and I doubt we have anyone that specialized here. My insurance is also an HMO so I would have to convince my PCP that I need a referral, which is not always possible and may be complicated by the fact that my insurance is medical only and doesn't cover vision.

t focus my vision and i had a huge blind spot (the entire left side of my vision). I went right to bed and in the morning my vision was fine, but my head ached very badly. It felt sore, especially in my right temple and along the right side of my head. Last night it happened again, but this time it was only in my left eye and the dizziness was mild. My father held his finger up to see where my vision stopped. I could not see anything to the left of my left pupil.
