Common Questions and Answers about Vision insurance only

insurance

Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with myopic degeneration and receive the intraocular injection which is very effective. My insurance carrier will not cover the cost of the injection (medicine and surgery). If I had a diagnosis of macular degeneration it would be fully covered. I am looking for suggestions as to how to make my case with the insurance carrier that this is not a one time event but a chronic condition that if not treated would result in a loss of vision.
Avatar n tn I’ve had 3 Avistan injections for bleeding on a scar/ pouch left behind from the detachment on my macula. Vision has stabilized at 20/60, with no central vision. Thick cornea. • Right eye: 2005 retinal tear, 2009 retinal tear. 2006 Verisyse lens, and iridectomy. Current diagnose with cataract. 2006 unsuccessful laser floater surgery. Thick cornea. • My right eye is filled with multiple floaters, and the vitreous is extremely cloudy, weiss ring.
Avatar n tn My husband (40 y/o,healthy)and I (40 y/o, healthy) are looking to get our health insurance coverage from next present. Right now we are on cobra GHI( extension from my previous work place) but they are asking me to change to EMPIRE PPO or EPO since they will not have GHI. I did not have dental and vision coverage previously but even if I want it they are saying they cannot add it. They are also asking for a one year committment.
Avatar f tn I was told recently that I probly have Ms by my DR waiting on insurance to kick in to do test . She is about 99.99% sure. Lately I have been experiencing blurry vision and sometimes the only way to make it better is to squint so they are almost closed then I can sorta clear it up.IS this common with MS ? AND also Iam realy stiff a lot lately hard to put my shoes on in the morning and retaining a lot of water noticed a lot of swelling in my ankles and legs.

Avatar f tn Hello! So I got a new job and didn't sign up for the vision plan because I have plenty of contacts, so decided to sign up during enrollment in January, but I did sign up for Medica health insurance. Now I have a growth in the corner of my eye. Not on the eyeball but in the way corner next to the nose. It is red, doesn't hurt or itch, is just super annoying because it touches by eye sometimes and feels like some eye boogers and I constantly want to rub it away.
Avatar m tn My left eye vision was recently measured at 20/60 with a contact lens on. I have noticed that my depth perception is off because of the cataract. This becomes a concern while driving. At times I feel like the cataract causes blind spots to my left. I feel like I have to be careful when walking up and down steps as well. Compounding this is that while the retina of my RIGHT EYE did not detach I had a PVD in that eye 6 months after the retina detachment surgery.
Avatar f tn I would call the number on the back of your card they will be able to tell you and also give you the name of doctors in your area that at covered by your insurance.
Avatar m tn I already thought that my worse vision in the right eye could be only due to a little bit more myopia (such as -1 in left eye and -1,1 in right eye) and because diopters are usually measured in steps of 0,25 that its not detected...
Avatar m tn t know too much about this condition, but it seems strange that this is only in one eye, and vision is improved in the other when I close the right eye and use the left over using both eyes. I don't know too much about how your eyes work, but I'm not a slow person either, so don't be afraid to spare me details on what you think is going on. I should also note that yesterday my optometrist dilated my eyes, and checked for damage.
233488 tn?1310693103 Don't take your doctor's word that your insurance won't cover the multifocal lens. My insurance paid for it after I explained all the facts to them. The doctors office had only submitted it after I hounded them about it. When they did it went as a non-medically necessary facility charge. When I explained to insurance it was not that. When a cataract is removed a lens is necessary. This marked the cost from $2,000 down to $120. that insurance covered.
1282384 tn?1271431332 Now my left eye is acting up and I do not have any insurance since I got laid off over a year ago and have not been able to find work. I'm concerned about driving since my vision is so distorted in sunlight. I'm wondering how bad will my vision get and are there any options for me to get the surgery done without insurance...like payment plans or something?
Avatar n tn I would suggest you insist your doctor give your husband a full refraction (eye exam) and find out exactly what his prescription is, including any astigmatism, then see if he can be helped with progressive glasses. If his vision improves with glasses and he can see to read and drive he will be in better shape than many other Rezoom patients.
Avatar m tn Hello Doctors, Under advice of my current doctor I am seeking second opinions about a surgery I am considering to improve my vision. I had a IOL placement several years ago. During that surgery I experienced a suprachoroidal hemorrhage. Luckily, I still have good vision with some minor issues like waves in my vision. I have traumatic mydriasis and very bad glare issues. I am considering implant of a prosthetic iris to help with these issues.
Avatar n tn Thank you so much for your responses. I will try to locate the doctor you both described, however I live in a fairly small town and I doubt we have anyone that specialized here. My insurance is also an HMO so I would have to convince my PCP that I need a referral, which is not always possible and may be complicated by the fact that my insurance is medical only and doesn't cover vision.
Avatar f tn In January I got EBV but didn't have insurance till June my test came back positive 2.
507504 tn?1291967104 the lightaheadness as gone away a little bit except when using bathroom when pushing i see more dots and more light and lightheades...what does this mean ? have no insurance and wont until middle of nov..
Avatar n tn you could even go for -0.5 and -1.5 and this may work quite well...but definitely go for blended vision...you only get one chance so get it rgt in first place...Read my latest posts and kind advice from Dr Hagan...hope it helps....
Avatar n tn d like to minimize your dependence on glasses, consider having your lenses set for blended vision (distance vision in dominant eye, intermediate vision in nondominant eye). With this correction, you might only need glasses for prolonged reading or seeing small print.
Avatar f tn This is will take long please bear with me I have been complaining about some visual issues since last year I'm 25 female, al though, it only started out as a blurry vision and went to different doctors they only said that it has something to do with grade of my eyes but they clearly said I still have 20/20 vision.
Avatar f tn I had a multifocal lens put in my left eye. The doctor says I have 20/25 vision but everything is blurry. It is fuzzy up close. I have a slight stigmatism. Is there any way to fix that? I have not had my right eye because I was waiting to get the 20/20 vision I expected in my left eye. The doctor says that once I have both eyes done I will be able to see better due to the brain and focusing. Is this true?
Avatar n tn Atleast twice an hour, I get this sharp pain in the middle, left back of my head, which causes my vision to black out. The thing that gets me about it is, the pain only lasts around 30 seconds, and when it's done, my vision returns back to normal. I am really concerned, because it has happened twice in the car, with my daughter in the back seat. I need some kind of idea as to what can be going on. I have no health insurance so I can't go to a doctor.
Avatar f tn made all payments, through 4/27/08, when the Cobra was due to end. On 4/29/08, I received a letter from my Cobra Insurance Co., saying that they were refunding my payments, from 7/1/07, as I was eligible for Medicare at that time. Of course, a huge stack of bills, totaling over 170,000 was included with the check. I am 64. After researching, I find out that I had to elect Medicare B? I was never told this, and therefor I have no paperwork on it.
Avatar f tn I am in my mid fifties, farsighted and have poor vision at all distances now , went to 3 doctors only one highly recommended Blended vision or mini mono vision using this Standard lens is , a Collamer Aspheric Single-Piece IO that is covered by insurance ( made by Staar) . By blended vision I am told, I will have very reasonable vision on all three distances. I would like to hear from doctors and patients who know of these lenses. I am excited about it but don't want to rush to have it.
Avatar f tn I'm 24 years old and started having occasional increased eye pressures at around 12. My vision in left eye is 20/60 and in right eye is 20/240. In the last 2 years I've had 3 eye examinations which all came back with pressures increased in both eyes left ranges 22-24 but right eye is 29-34. My eye DR. did a visual field test and it seems I have a blind spot in my upper right field in the right eye.
