Avatar n tn Well, you've come to the right place if you don't want a sales pitch for a "premium" lens. Dr. Hagan has stated several times on this forum that he would not want a multifocal/accommodating IOL in his own eye--and he has inside information about how these lenses actually perform.
Avatar f tn I'm not sure if Armour would be covered by Medicaid or not, because Medicaid typically only covers generics (without a medically sound reason for brand name) and there is no generic Armour. Your co-pay will depend on the insurance you have. I'm on Tirosint and my co-pay is about $54/mo; my co-pay for generic T3 med is about $9 for 90 days, but I have pretty fair insurance. Not getting the treatment you need is always a chance you take whenever changing doctors.

Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with myopic degeneration and receive the intraocular injection which is very effective. My insurance carrier will not cover the cost of the injection (medicine and surgery). If I had a diagnosis of macular degeneration it would be fully covered. I am looking for suggestions as to how to make my case with the insurance carrier that this is not a one time event but a chronic condition that if not treated would result in a loss of vision.
Avatar n tn My husband (40 y/o,healthy)and I (40 y/o, healthy) are looking to get our health insurance coverage from next present. Right now we are on cobra GHI( extension from my previous work place) but they are asking me to change to EMPIRE PPO or EPO since they will not have GHI. I did not have dental and vision coverage previously but even if I want it they are saying they cannot add it. They are also asking for a one year committment.
964075 tn?1390448278 t want to live the next 20-30 years with this condition and is willing to help me ELIMINATE the vision of my right eye. Some of us understand when enough is enough, how can I undergo this procedure ensuring my double vision ( diplopia ) will FINALLY cease to exist.... I am of sound mind and understand and ACCEPT the risk to this procedure. Thank you for any help,or advise.
Avatar n tn I'm 28 years old, I wear corrective contact lenses with -6.5 diopters in my left eye and -6 in my right. After researching lasik being familiar with the negative outcome an Uncle of mine had with the surgery I felt that surgical vision correction wasn't something I wanted to do. My ophthalmologist mentioned IOL surgery to me. I liked the procedure better because of how long its been around for treating cataracts, but still feel like I don't know much about it.
Avatar f tn t even remember names. Please, I need help on this. The actual scenario is posted further down-Cobra VS.
Avatar f tn Also, see if there is a birth center near you. I know our local BC has options for families with no insurance. The total out of pocket to deliver there and be seen throughout the pregnancy is about $4500 compared to 3x that amount about the hospital.
Avatar n tn I need the names of some very excellent, top retinal specialists in Los Angeles. Have read the postings on the surgeries for retinal tears & detachments which are very frightening. Please, help needed.

1282384 tn?1271431332 Now my left eye is acting up and I do not have any insurance since I got laid off over a year ago and have not been able to find work. I'm concerned about driving since my vision is so distorted in sunlight. I'm wondering how bad will my vision get and are there any options for me to get the surgery done without insurance...like payment plans or something?
Avatar f tn Hello! So I got a new job and didn't sign up for the vision plan because I have plenty of contacts, so decided to sign up during enrollment in January, but I did sign up for Medica health insurance. Now I have a growth in the corner of my eye. Not on the eyeball but in the way corner next to the nose. It is red, doesn't hurt or itch, is just super annoying because it touches by eye sometimes and feels like some eye boogers and I constantly want to rub it away.
507504 tn?1291967104 the lightaheadness as gone away a little bit except when using bathroom when pushing i see more dots and more light and lightheades...what does this mean ? have no insurance and wont until middle of nov..
Avatar n tn The only signs I had that anything was wrong was a migraine that lasted for 3 months then a blind spot in my central line of vision for my left eye after the double vision went away. I was sent to a Neuro Opthamologist who looked at my eyes and told me that to save my vision I needed a shunt. My neurologist put me on diamox as well but I had to many side effects like pins and needles in my legs so they took me off of it.
Avatar m tn Hello, doctor(s), I had a couple of concerns that I wish to be answered. Since about a year ago I started having blurry vision. I'm on the computer or watching TV anywhere from 0-16 hours a day. I'm 16 and have being diagnosed with Astigmatism in my left eye, and nearsightedness in both eyes and was given a .5 prescription. I have gotten these glasses and see perfectly fine with them on, and a little bit blurry reading distant names, etc.
233488 tn?1310693103 Don't take your doctor's word that your insurance won't cover the multifocal lens. My insurance paid for it after I explained all the facts to them. The doctors office had only submitted it after I hounded them about it. When they did it went as a non-medically necessary facility charge. When I explained to insurance it was not that. When a cataract is removed a lens is necessary. This marked the cost from $2,000 down to $120. that insurance covered.
Avatar f tn I'm 24 years old and started having occasional increased eye pressures at around 12. My vision in left eye is 20/60 and in right eye is 20/240. In the last 2 years I've had 3 eye examinations which all came back with pressures increased in both eyes left ranges 22-24 but right eye is 29-34. My eye DR. did a visual field test and it seems I have a blind spot in my upper right field in the right eye.
Avatar m tn s actually good that he has some peripheral vision. This peripheral vision will aid his good eye. There is no such thing as eye transplants currently. The main thing right now: Protect the Good Eye!!! He needs to wear protective eyewear when he is in any activity which could injure his good eye: sports, yard work, wood work, machinery, etc...good polycarbonate lenses. Sincerely, Timothy D. McGarity, M.D.
Avatar f tn I was thinking of giving my child 2 middle names and maybe putting my last name as the second name because I am not a fan of hyphenated last names. If anyone could help me understand the pro's and con's it would be greatly appreciated.
703821 tn?1231722095 I have had a severe fall resulting in amnesia, temporary blindness, vertigo, tinnitus, hearing loss, vision doubled. I was hospitalized when fainting spells, double vision, and migraines developed. We don't know what path to take as MRI and CT scan show nothing obviously wrong. Shouldn't we see any signs on the tests like swelling? What can and should be seen and what can we do?
Avatar f tn all this plus dizziness, faint episodes and blurry vision occur everytime. The doctor i went to told me to go get an MRI, but i havent done that yet, because another doctor, told me that this is just a migraine and that i have to deal with it, i just want to know if i should go do the MRI or just get through it and pray for it to go?
Avatar m tn Most insurance companies are cracking down on MRIs period. All insurance information without personal data goes to one big clearing house, where the industry studies it. They have found MRIs are the most used test or procedure in the country. At over $3000 a MRI the industry is trying to make sure they are necessary. Most insurance companies will now only pay a third. I have this information from sitting in on health care governmental meetings.
Avatar f tn I have Chiari Malformation and I had decompression surgery where they removed the bottom of my skull and the top half of the C1 vertebrae. I also still have chronic migraines and I don’t have vision insurance to go have a full work up at the optometrist. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The “magnification” of the left eye is pretty bothersome. I also have very frequent blurry vision that I can’t clear up by blinking or rubbing my eyes.
