Common Questions and Answers about Vision insurance cover lasik

insurance

Avatar n tn I had lasik surgery twice 8 years ago and now the cataract surgery. My vision is as bad or worse than before I had the lasik. My doctor said my insurance might not cover replacing the wrong lens he put in so he is looking at either doing lasik again or laser surgery to correct the nearsightedness. Is this a good procedure to do? My eye is still flickering also.
Avatar m tn t seem to get a straight answer on this, I did not have anything like this before the surgery, my vision is like being under water I was told to take ketoralac as a substitute for acular as my insurance did not cover the acular, went for a second opinion and this lasik surgeon agreed with CME, and thought it was better to use prednisolone along with nevanac, so my question is this permanent or will in most cases it will get better soon I hope this is terrible to live with one eye.
Avatar m tn Most eyes that have had macular hole surgery do not recover perfect 20/20 vision so it might be that the difference in IOL power will not be enough to consider IOL exchange. Generally insurance is NOT going to cover IOL exchange if glasses will correct the problem.
Avatar f tn however DDH is a disease of eye alignment so lasik will not help it either. Even if you had insurance it would not pay for lasik.
Avatar m tn What is lasik surgery and does it effectively help vision correction?
Avatar n tn 00) the second day after Lasik I developed blurred and double vision in my left eye, my right eye vision is good. when i cover my right eye i see double images, but when i open it my vision gets a little spooky, better but it feels like one eye is taking over the other or something. just weird! now my family pointed out that my eyes hasn't been perfectly aligned after my Lasik as they were before! my question is, how does all this come together? and should i be worried?
1164675 tn?1264270214 my prescription was (-L2.50 - R2.00) the second day after Lasik I developed blurred and double vision in my left eye, my right eye vision is good. when i cover my right eye i see double images, but when i open it my vision gets a little spooky, better but it feels like one eye is taking over the other or something. just weird! this happens particularly when i stare at the computer screen for a while, and it is hard to focus as well...
Avatar m tn but if they are paying, long-term wouldnt they be ahead, assuming lasik surgery, rather than the monthly $$ for contacts? is his vision post lasik as good as currently using the contacts. or is there some vision loss, offset by the conveniene of not contacts/glasses.
Avatar f tn I now had the same surgery in my left eye using the same technique and same doctor, but I now have blurry vision after removing the patch over six days ago. What could be the reason for the blurry vision? Is this part of the healing, or is it considered a complicaiton?I search the internet for "complications" after ptyerigium surgery and there isn't any info besides recurrence as the complication. What could I do to fix this? PLEASE HELP!
280369 tn?1316702041 If it is solely a cost factor, you might consider vision insurance. Most vision plans replace lens every year, frames every 2 years. It certainly is a cost saver for me in purchasing my glasses.
Avatar n tn I'll throw in some other things you might want to consider. There has been a new Crystalens model introduced every year or two, and my impression is that the newer model is always a big improvement over what used to be. It seems likely that there will continue to be major improvements in the technology of accommodating IOLs (what your doctor suggested using for your "clear" option).
Avatar f tn The Pentacam is good insurance in this situation since it can give very accurate readings despite previous LASIK - but I still tell my patients that there is a significant chance they will have to wear reading and distance glasses after surgery and also about a 1 in 10 chance of having to change out the IOL due to a problem with proper lens calcuation and a resultant unexpected refractive result.
Avatar n tn Are you saying that the light show in my eye, the loss of my night vision, the cloudiness and the halos might be fixable with PRK/LASIK or LRIs? Pardon my redundancy but I am really scared. I would gladly come to California for treatment.
Avatar n tn Yes lasik on the reading eye is one option. Waiting 3 months is not likely to be a problem and will give you longer to see if you can adjust.
Avatar f tn I told my doctor what I would like to achieve is the best possible distance vision and the best possible night vision. I do not mind wearing reading glasses. I had monovision with Lasik and would like to do the same with the cataract surgery. The plans was to have good distance vision in my right I and then put a Crystal Lens ($1500 extra) in my left eye for reading.(He was really pushing for me to upgrade to the multifocal lenses). I had cataract surgery 2/17/11 on my dominant eye.
Avatar n tn ) An alternative would be to get laser vision correction (LASIK, PRK) to reduce the myopia in your second eye (and your insurance might cover the procedure). Wearing a contact lens in that eye works for some people. I would not recommend targeting -6 for your cataract eye, but it's certainly an option, too. Although a 3 diopter difference between your eyes might (or might not) be tolerable, you'd be passing up a golden opportunity to have good uncorrected vision.
Avatar f tn I have the other eye done next week, which should be easier. The first eye had lasik and a prk touch up. The next eye only had lasik, so I hope the calculations will work well for the second eye. I have thought about cancelling the second eye, being afraid the hyperopia will happen to that eye also, which would render my eyes both basically useless without correction. What would you do? Wait on doing the second eye? Do the piggyback and the second eye at the same time?
Avatar f tn List cost of procedures/ discount to Medicare or insurance company, yearly deductibles that have not been met, and the insurance/medicare co-payment. If the person has secondary insurance (medicare) we estimate what that will be. The person leaves knowing exactly what the procedure will cost them. For medicare we even tell them Medicare does not cover the cost of glasses testing after the surgery is healed and we cannot legally write it off (right now we charge $40).
13008581 tn?1432432810 within the last week my vision has became very blurry . has anyone tried Lasik surgery and if so what was the outcome?
Avatar n tn m curious whether anyone has an experience with this, and whether I can reasonably expect my vision to change - and more specifically, develop good distance vision as anticipated - in the coming weeks? Is 9 days out too early to conclude that my vision - for whatever reasons; maybe bad lens power choice? - will remain as such, and need to be corrected in another way (glasses, or perhaps future sugeries)?. Thanks very much for any insights on this matter.
Avatar m tn Usually insurance will cover LASIK on healthy eye even if it does not have a cataract if you have tried glasses and contacts and cannot adjust. They will "precertify" to be sure you have coverage. 3. The image in your eye after a cataract IOL operation will be larger and not "fuse" with the smaller image from the quite myopic other eye. 4. The term for this is aneisometropia. 5. I would wait 2-3 months during which you can try your other options. 6.
Avatar m tn Infection and dislocation of the lasik flap are known complications of the lasik procedure but are not common. Work closely with your cornea surgeon to treat this problem and some time in the next week or two ask for a second opinion and see another ophthalmologist that does lasik surgery to see you. It is far too early to conclude that you vision will be permantently blurry.
1103574 tn?1257958576 Peter Hersh in NJ, where I live, suggested CK to try to make my cornea more of a normal shape so I may be fitted with a contact lens or maybe even Lasik. I considered this but it can be costly and insurance will not cover. If this is my only option I will try it. Would appreciate any insight.
Avatar n tn Thanks for the reply. Anything but glasses! My vision is 20/20. Its just when I cover my right eye my left eye is blurry. I have heard people in my case may need to cover the good eye to force the brain to use the weak eye.
Avatar n tn I have worked with an Eye MD that did lasik (paid for by insurance) on the -10 eye hoping to cut it down to say -3 to -4 where glasses would work. Bottom line she cannot wear glasses that are -3 and -10 and when you stop patching the vision will fall off unless she wears contacts and glasses.
Avatar f tn My orignial surgeon who I will see soon, wants to do YAG and lasik (at his expense) to repair the limited vision I have with the crystalens implanted almost 3 months ago - he admits his measurements were off and the power is too strong ( I can only see my fingertips clearly - no halos or other problems though) He wants to do crystalens in the other eye . I do not want lasik nor do I want a crystalens in other eye - I would like monofocal lenses after my experience with crystalens.
Avatar m tn Is Lasik done 1 1/2 years following Crystalens surgery to improve near vision usually successful or would it be better to wear glasses or contacts to be able to read? What is the success rate of Lasik following Crystalens?
