301354 tn?1211810520 I hate insurance companies as well. Unfortunately what your friend is going through is not uncommon in the US. My insurance does not cover ANY fertility treatments. I've had to pay for mine all out of pocket (from oral meds to injectibles to IUI, plus all of the doctors visits). So now I have a pretty large amount of debt built up since it took us 6 years to conceive. However, I am now 31 weeks pregnant, and once I hold my daughter in my arms, it will all be worth it!
645800 tn?1466860955 Never could figure out whether insurance companies hired people to drive around and check out the houses or what. Only heard of this happening to her until now. We thought maybe some turned her in but how would anyone know who the insurance comany is? Very strange and I thought out of line. I hope all this gets worked out!
Avatar m tn You are on the wrong forum, this is eyes/vision
Avatar n tn My husband (40 y/o,healthy)and I (40 y/o, healthy) are looking to get our health insurance coverage from next present. Right now we are on cobra GHI( extension from my previous work place) but they are asking me to change to EMPIRE PPO or EPO since they will not have GHI. I did not have dental and vision coverage previously but even if I want it they are saying they cannot add it. They are also asking for a one year committment.
281219 tn?1219114914 I know what you mean Christina, along with just so many visits for Brayden, they also won't even look at him down here where I live if he is born before May 1, don't ask me why.. they just said they would have to transfer him up to a hospital 2 hours away because he wouldn't be *full term*.. I always thought after 37 weeks you were considered full term, but not with this insurance company.
1365830 tn?1277997291 If your pregnant you are already covered with your health benefits, but some insurance companies refuse to cover you or charge you more just because you have pre-existing condition.
4487186 tn?1362144662 They should approve it. Some insurance companies are just slow and booty 's. Keep us updated.
Avatar f tn I found out my insurance covers a breast pump & was given in network companies. They listed 9 of them & need honest opinions from those that may have used any of them. The list consists of: Byram Healthcare, Sterling Medical Services, Genadyne Biotechnologies, Yummy Mummy, Edgepark Medical Supplies, Sunmed,Edwards Health Care Services, Hygeia, & Medline Healthcare Company. Thanks in advance!
Avatar f tn Since diabetes is a pre-existing condition, insurance is very expensive. If anyone on here knows of any good prices on insurance for diabetics, please share--it would be greatly appreciated! Some great resources for locating free and low cost clinics are the two links I have listed below. These clinics usually require proof of income to be eligible for services (which can include doctor's visits and even lab work).
Avatar f tn - And perhaps most relevant to current discussion about insurance companies canceling substandard policies, your insurance company must cover what are called “essential health benefits.” What are “essential health benefits?” They are clearly defined on HealthCare.
290867 tn?1333569278 Something I learned from our insurance agent is that if you currently have health ins. MOST ins companies will pick you up if you choose to go with them. We were worried about not being able to switch because of pre-existing conditions, but she said we don't have to worry about that.

763297 tn?1281379425 Hi everyone I just went to my doctor who referred me to a fertility specialist. I need to get insurance that will help me pay for some of this because it looks like it's going to be very expensive. Can someone please tell me what some good companies are that aren't too expensive.
Avatar n tn The best thing to do with insurance companies is to stay off the radar screen.
10169340 tn?1415846161 We will see what happens I was told I should get an by the end of next week....at this point I am so beaten down and tired of these insurance companies I just. Am letting it go and putting it all in Gods hands.. Thanks ....I didn't know about the "surgery date thread" for Prayer Thread... Avatar m tn Insurance companies care about their bottom line today, not about saving money in the future. If curing your Hep C today will keep you from getting cirrhosis 10 or 20 years from now, this is not a big incentive for the insurance company. 10 or 20 years from now, you will probably have insurance with a different company or with Medicare, so your current insurance company is not going to see any future cost-savings benefit from spending thousands of dollars on Hep C treatment now.
Avatar f tn Has any of you mommies had to switch insurance companies mid pregnancy due to quitting a job or changing jobs? What was your experience like?
Avatar f tn So yesterday I got a letter in the mail from a third party company that my insurance had hired. The letter wanted to know if my recent visit to the surgery center where I had my injections had anything to do with an accident. They wanted to know so that if my injuries were cause by an accident they could file a claim against whoever caused it to get more money. I thought that was just ridiculous. My injections were about $1,500 each. My insurance only pain my PM center about $250.
Avatar m tn I don't know about the US policy but here in Australia some insurance companies refuse to insure you if you are Hiv+ or have cancer.Very sad indeed.
Avatar m tn No insurance companies do not cancel your policies if you test.
Avatar m tn Ophthalmic surgeons in the US and other countries are under intense economic pressure because payments from insurance companies and federal/government systems are going down. Thus many offices (not the one I work for) start pressure from the time you call to 'upgrade" to premium lens, ORA technology, femtosecond laser, etc. Recently I saw a patient paid $16,000 US out of pocket with the 'guarentee' that he would not need glasses for anything.
280299 tn?1216855676 Yes. Unfortunately there are key words in a doctor's report that automatically bump you into a high risk category for life insurance companies. It doesn't matter if the situation is completely benign and statistically insignificant, the terms and or episodes will kick you out of their "eligibility" guidelines. Insurance companies are there to make money.
3166940 tn?1346378707 Honestly, I don't think there is any insurance to cover infertility issues. From my understanding because TTC is a choice, insurance companies don't cover infertility treatment or meds. There may be some insurance out there that does, but I haven't come across it yet. Also the people that I know who have had fertility issues had to pay out of pocket. If you don't mind me asking, about how much was your IUI?
